MFT June Release Hop

Hi everyone!  Welcome to this month’s My Favorite Things new release hop!  If you’ve just popped in here, you may want to go back to the beginning with Kim.

This month’s stamp releases include the new WTG set Let’s Picnic, a Who’s That Grillin’ Guy set and these adorable Poppies.   All are available tomorrow at 10 p.m. EST.

Girls Rock!

    MFTGR5

I started out with an MFT sketch for inspiration for my card, but that ended up taking on a life of it’s own, not looking much like the sketch at MFTGRCU3all in the end.

Using a craft knife, I cut away the center of the drum and turned it into a shaker.  I just happened to have coordinating microbeads that I had purchased years ago.  (Just another of those things I had to have that I figured I’d need some day.  I guess I was right for once. lol.)

I used a black Copic to transform the red heart brads into shiny black ones.

MFTGRT7The inside of the tin holds two packs of Pop Rocks and a gift card.

That bottom left side really is straight and even.  It was just pressed further down into the tin on that side.  I would retake the picture, but after two weeks of pestering, I finally let me children eat the Pop Rocks and the photo would not be quite the same without them.

Please join us tomorrow in the MFT Member Forum for the New Release Cocktail Party 8 – 10 p.m. EST.  During the party, two new MFT design team members will be announced (chosen from the MFT Staming Idol Final Four) as well as the winner of the One-Click Challenge.

Next up on the blog hop trail is mega-talented JODY!

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great day!

MFT Hop…Changing the way you gift

Welcome to this month’s mid-release hop with My Favorite Things!   If you’re just popping in here, please head over to Kim‘s blog (the very beginning) so you don’t miss anything.

Tomorrow, May 20, MFT is releasing two new mini sets, Time for the Bubbly label and Teacher label.  Other products being released include jars sized to fit the label stamp sets (sold in packs of four, 16 oz. each), Stephanie Fizer Papers – School Collection digi paper pack, Eclipse Masking Sheet packs and Adornments Shimmer brads (8-10 each pink, 8-10 cream, and 16-20 white).

Each of the design team members have filled a jar with their own “something special.”  I turned mine into a little calendar for a special teacher.

MFTTLI stamped the label twice (onto patterned paper and cardstock) then placed two magnetic strips between the layers.  The months and dates were printed from my computer onto cardstock, punched out, matted and adhered to inchies.  On the back of each square is a strip of magnetic “tape.”

MFTFTCHere’s a closer pic of the card.  (The apple and books die-cuts are on the lid of the jar as well.)  The apple is raised on a pop dot and I bent up the edges of the “note” just a bit for added interest.

Weekly Spotlight-New Release Sets

MFTSPTGIM!  🙂

The spotlight this week with My Favorite Things is on the May new release sets.  Last week I shared a sample using the new Who’s That Girl set, Girl’s Day In.  Today I have Flopsey… Birthday Flopsey, that is.  He’s so cute holding that great big cake.  And the sentiments in this set are adorable.  I used my favorite here, splitting it between the bag and the card.

Ready…Set…BLOW!

I colored Flopsey with Prismacolor pencils, blending with Weber Natural Turpenoid.  I paper-pieced the cake and added separate strips of “icing” to the layers (cut from scraps of white cardstock).

MFTRSBCUHere’s a  closer shot of the little gift card. (It’s 3″ x 3″).

Also available on Wednesday (May 6th, 10 p.m. EST) is an owl set and another set of cute little bunnies.  I’ll have samples of those tomorrow night (Tuesday) at 10 p.m. (EST) when the MFT New Release Blog Hop takes place.

Don’t forget to check out the Bubble Bin this week for some great savings!

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a great day!

One More Gift Tin

Hi everyone.  I have my last gift tin to share today.  Actually, I shouldn’t say that since the season has not yet passed.  I may have to whip up one more.

O holy night

    OHNR2

This is another tin I like to have on had.  A couple places to find these “almost” square CD tins are Eclectic Paperie or All That Scraps.  The stars and reindeer are 3-d stickers.   For a bit more dimension and sparkle, I added a dot of Diamond Stickles in the center of each snowflake on the patterned paper.

           OHNEBCUR1

After stamping the sentiment, I felt it didn’t stand out as much as I wanted it to so I quickly dumped some clear embossing powder over and heated.  That’s one thing I really like about the Adirondack inks–they dry quickly but not as quickly as some of the others so you have time to grab that powder…assuming you know where it is.  😉

        OHNISR1

Inside is another small tin of gum and two gift cards.  (The gum slid down when I tilted the tin for the photo.  Maybe I should have added a bit of tape underneath.)

Thanks for stopping by!  I’m off to enjoy my last few hours of silence before that holiday vacation begins.  🙂   Have a great day!

A Quick Gift Card Idea

Hi everyone!  I hope your week has gone well.  I’ve been scrambling to get some things done before the kids begin their holiday vacation.  So in honor of scrambling, today’s WT challenge at Splitcoast Stampers is to make a quick gift.  (Just for the record, I made this for a friend and it was not a last minute thing.  It just happens to fit today’s challenge.)

A while back I picked up some of these business card tins from Eclectic Paperie for $1.49 each.  They’re great to have on hand as they are quick to decorate.

I attached a piece of patterned paper to the front of the tin, cut slightly smaller and corners rounded.  The snowman was paper-pieced using Prism Natural cardstock with the heart paper-pieced from a scrap of the patterned paper and raised on a piece of a pop dot.  I colored the nose with a Copic marker, glued down the trim (which is SOOOO soft) and stamped the sentiment.

NGCISFor the inside top, I cut a block of striped paper to fit, punched two slits for the card, added a Dew Drop on each slit and glued the piece inside the lid.

The bottom is no more complicated than the top.  The only thing you might not be able to see from the picture is that I popped up the dripping wax part of the candle.  I added a few pop dots beneath the bottom panel as I felt the tin looked a bit empty.

Next…another (but different) gift/gift card holder.  (I suppose it may not be all that helpful to present these ideas so late, but I’ve fallen behind this year.  Sorry about that!)

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Holiday Wrap Part I

Along with creating coordinating envelopes as we did yesterday, I really enjoy designing gift bags, gift card holders, etc.  Here is my first of this holiday season.  (Probably the first of many!)  I don’t know if they will all be this easy, but this one came together in a snap!

Merry & Bright

              M&BGS4

The Thomas Kinkade Christmas papers made this one an easy task.  The papers are 8″ x 8″ and my bag just happened to be 8″ wide.  It’s so nice when things work out like that!

I repeatedly stamped “Silent Night” onto a piece of white snowflake patterned paper from M&BCU5the pack, then added the velvet ribbon along the seams.

I applied Diamond Stickles to the trees, ground and house.   You can see the sparkles a bit better in this smaller picture.  (Still not as sparkly as in person though.)

To mat the sentiment on the card, I punched two ovals (the same size as the white sentiment piece) and overlapped them behind the sentiment.  It works well enough if you don’t have the next size up punch for matting.  (Note to self:  MUST get more Nestabilities!)

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a great day!
