Weekly Spotlight 06/10-06/16

MFTWSHi everyone!

This week’s spotlight with My Favorite Things is on Glitters for the Glitter.

Your Spotlight Savings

All glitter is 15% off!  I used Sparkling Ice on my card below.  (This glitter is also included in the Summer Collection.)

Hope Your Birthday is the Best!

    MFTFBB

I transformed Birthday Flopsey‘s cake into a stack of gifts by omitting the trim from the cake when inking the stamp.  For the dots, I punched 1/4″ circles from MFTBBCURose cardstock, applied glue to each circle using a Quickie Glue Pen and then covered the dots with clear glitter.   I used a little paint brush to brush away any stray sparkles.

To make my curly bow, I cut a thin strip of cardstock, wrapped it around a large needle, bunched it a bit and glued it to the top gift.

Joanne has posted a tutorial in the MFT forum on different ways to use glitter. Be sure to check it out here.  (Her samples are FABULOUS!)

Thanks so much for stopping by!  I truly appreciate your interest!  Have a great day!

Grab Your Sunglasses

Hi everyone!   We awoke to some pretty heavy thunderstorms this morning so I thought I’d try to cheer myself by posting the brightest card I’ve ever created.  I sent this to a very good friend last month.  I thought she might not have been very excited about her birthday so I tried to make it as bright and festive as possible.

yahoo

        WSYHJ

This Happy “Bird”-day image by Whipper Snapper was colored with Copics.   Since I didn’t have ribbon to match, I colored it with a Copic as well.

The inside sentiment (from Anna’s Happy Birthday cling set) simply says “yahoo.”  No uppercase letters, no exclamation points.  Just yahoo.  I thought it was just right. 🙂

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a great day!

A Sweet Hello

Here’s another of those stamps that has been collecting dust in my little basket.  Actually, it hasn’t been there all that long.  It’s fairly new (to me).

Hello

    SNHCF

I decided to keep it fairly simple, coloring with Copics, adding some stitching, twill and popping up the focal image and whole front panel.

Our Time Trials went well, but it was cold.  We’ve had so much rain in the last couple weeks (and it’s been in the 60’s until today), so we’ve had only a few actual swim (in the water) practices.  My little girl had no experience on deck with the buzzer (whatever it’s called) and she’s pretty shy.  We managed to get her in for her freestyle but she would have nothing to do with the backstroke.  She was so upset about it she was crying.  Awww…I felt so bad.  I’m hoping we have better weather this week for practicing and that she’ll have more confidence next weekend.  (And I hope it’s warmer!)  My son was a trooper. He complained a bit but did well.  🙂   ***yawn*** (lol)

I’m off to bed.  Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great day!

StampsSugar Nellie “Fingers Crossed,” Cornish Heritage Farms “Silhouette Blooms I” (Kim Hughes Collection)   Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black   Cardstock:  Stampin’ Up Barely Banana, Prism Natural Smooth   Patterned Paper:  Basic Grey Wisteria paper pad   Accessories:  Copic markers (E0000, E00, YR31, R20, B000, B00, E31, E33, E35, C1, C3), twill, sewing machine, pop dots.  Finished size 5 ¼” x 5 ¼”.

Swooning Anya

Hi everyone!  It’s just about Friday!  🙂

We have our first swim meet this weekend.  It’s actually Time Trials so it’s really a “kind of” meet, but we’re excited to see how well the kids do (ours and their friends).  This is our daughter’s first time on the team so we’re super excited to see her swim.  I’m not too excited to be at the pool by 6:30 a.m. though.  But who knows.  If our woodpecker is doing his usual pecking on the gutter, we might be up even earlier than necessary.  (Insert expletives.)

Here is another of The Greeting Farm’s latest (I think) Anya images, Rain, Snow, Shine

You Warm My Heart

     WSDOFP

I added a few little cross-stitches here and there and used a clear gel pen on her sunglasses so they’re nice and shiny.

Once I had taken the photo of this card, I decided the red ribbon was too thin in comparison to the card size so I added the wider lace underneath.  Unfortunately, I had stitched the button to the patterned paper so I cut the lace down the middle and glued each half just under the ribbon’s edges.  (Creative altering.)

I have one more image from this trio yet to be inked…Snow.   Soon…. soon. 🙂

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great day!

MFT June Release Hop

Hi everyone!  Welcome to this month’s My Favorite Things new release hop!  If you’ve just popped in here, you may want to go back to the beginning with Kim.

Girls Rock!

    MFTGR5

I started out with an MFT sketch for inspiration for my card, but that ended up taking on a life of it’s own, not looking much like the sketch at MFTGRCU3all in the end.

Using a craft knife, I cut away the center of the drum and turned it into a shaker.  I just happened to have coordinating microbeads that I had purchased years ago.  (Just another of those things I had to have that I figured I’d need some day.  I guess I was right for once. lol.)

I used a black Copic to transform the red heart brads into shiny black ones.

MFTGRT7The inside of the tin holds two packs of Pop Rocks and a gift card.

That bottom left side really is straight and even.  It was just pressed further down into the tin on that side.  I would retake the picture, but after two weeks of pestering, I finally let me children eat the Pop Rocks and the photo would not be quite the same without them.

Please join us tomorrow in the MFT Member Forum for the New Release Cocktail Party 8 – 10 p.m. EST.  During the party, two new MFT design team members will be announced (chosen from the MFT Staming Idol Final Four) as well as the winner of the One-Click Challenge.

Next up on the blog hop trail is mega-talented JODY!

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Let’s Party! (or get some sleep)

TGIM.  I’m not as chipper this morning as usual.  I’ve had a headache since yesterday and I was awoken this morning (5:34 a.m. to be exact) by a woodpecker pounding on something metal right over my bedroom window.  I must have a “Psychotic Birds Stop Here” sign on my house.  Remember the Cardinal that followed me around last year…and the year before… pecking non-stop on my windows?   (sigh)   Anyway…

My nephew’s birthday was yesterday.  I don’t have many stamps that work with a “teen boy” theme so this is what I came up with.

Let’s Party

       CHFLP

I used several Kim Hughes sets to create my scene along with Cosmo’s Mr. Campy paper.  I threw in a piece of Dutch Girl for the background.  CHFLPCUThe bluish-green is a pretty close match to one of the dots on the paper but of course I covered all of them so you can’t tell.

We bought my nephew a book from his Amazon list but wanted to give him a little extra something so I created a pocket on the inside to hold some money.  If I’d had more time, I would have added a brown matting to the pocket and a thin strip CHFLPISof brown paper across the top… like a teenage boy even cares…but I do.  🙂

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you’ll come back tomorrow for the My Favorite Things blog hop at 10 p.m. (EST).  We have some fun new releases to share!  (And don’t forget to check out that Bubble Bin!  Have a great day!

Finished size: 5 ½” x 5 ½”.
