What Time is It? It’s JiFFy Time!

Yep, the Jiffy girls have another challenge to share!  This time around Lori chose this adorable (and very popular) Daisy image by Sugar Nellie.  And before she revealed her image to us, I mailed to everyone “Sun Dress” and “Strawberry Patch” patterned paper from Basic Grey’s new Lemonade collection.

It’s Been a While

I used a combination of Copic markers and Prismacolor pencils to color my image.  The girl’s hair, skin and the background were colored with Copics and the rest was done with pencils.

I shredded the paper edges a bit and then used my psychotic sewing machine to add some stitching.  Normally if my machine is acting wonky,  I would murmur some choice words and start over, but since the card is kind of scrappy, I decided the stitching could stay kind of cr@ppy.

Be sure to check out what the other JiFFy girls have done with this same image and paper:

Julie, Carole, Lori and Alli.  (Kim has a lot going on this month so she had to sit this one out.  She’ll be back though! 🙂 )

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a great day!

A Sweet Hello

Here’s another of those stamps that has been collecting dust in my little basket.  Actually, it hasn’t been there all that long.  It’s fairly new (to me).

Hello

    SNHCF

I decided to keep it fairly simple, coloring with Copics, adding some stitching, twill and popping up the focal image and whole front panel.

Our Time Trials went well, but it was cold.  We’ve had so much rain in the last couple weeks (and it’s been in the 60’s until today), so we’ve had only a few actual swim (in the water) practices.  My little girl had no experience on deck with the buzzer (whatever it’s called) and she’s pretty shy.  We managed to get her in for her freestyle but she would have nothing to do with the backstroke.  She was so upset about it she was crying.  Awww…I felt so bad.  I’m hoping we have better weather this week for practicing and that she’ll have more confidence next weekend.  (And I hope it’s warmer!)  My son was a trooper. He complained a bit but did well.  🙂   ***yawn*** (lol)

I’m off to bed.  Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Getting Krafty

Today’s Ways to Use It challenge is to use kraft cardstock.  Now there’s a color I do not use often enough.  I like it, I just never think to use it for whatever reason.

Sending Love

CHFOFP

I paired kraft cardstock with Basic Grey’s new Wisteria patterned paper, using kraft as my card base, matting and stone wall.  To create the stone wall, I used a Fiskars texture plate with my Cuttlebug. I then rubbed over the raised design with a sponge dabbed into white craft ink.

I cut out the bottom portion of the image so that the girl’s legs could dangle over the “wall,” and I placed a thin strip of a pop dot beneath each leg.

My little white cross-stitches over the sentiment were inspired by my friend Carla.  🙂  She often adds hand-stitching to her cards (which are always amazing).

Thanks so much for visiting!  Have a great day!

Same Paper Different Look

Here it is again…the same paper I used on my last post.  I used quite a bit of it here.  The image itself is somewhat large so my card ended up being 5 1/2″ x 6 1/2″.  The “jacks” pattern you see is the reverse side of the floral.  Had I planned ahead (which I hardly ever do), I could have cut that partial circle from the one “card size” piece and just added the layer of brown cardstock beneath the curve to hide the cut line.  Nonetheless, I’m happy with the result.  (And I really hope to find more of this paper somewhere.  So far though, I’ve had no luck, not even on-line.  Is it old?  Discontinued?  I’ve never bought paper in a store then not been able to find it on-line.  Strange.  **shrugging shoulders**)

Hello

    SNH

I looked at this image from Sugar Nellie so many times, trying to decide if I wanted it.  The only thing that held me back was it’s size (about 4 3/8″ x 5 1/8″) but I decided it was just too cute to pass up.

I’m off to enjoy this glorious weather (finally)!  Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Happy Birthday to “My Girl”

TGIF!  I’m in a bit of a funk today…don’t know why.  It’s just an “eh” kind of day, so this will be short (and maybe a little sweet).   🙂

Happy Birthday

      HBL

This is the card I made for my girl’s birthday.  I say “my girl” because she and I have this little thing…  I say “My girl” and she says “My mommy.”  It’s so cute.  And I know it won’t last, so I’ll take it while I can get it.  🙂

HBLVCUI used Luvvie by Leanne Ellis, popping up her hands and the heart. The flower in her hair is popped up as well.

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Yet Another Favorite

I had to make time today to play with my new Gorjuss Girls from Sugar Nellie.  I  them!  I do, I do, I do!!!  They are SO cute!

Hello

     HGG

I colored her with Copics, used a Copic to color the flourish and embossed the sentiment so it would show up better on the patterned paper.

I’ll be back soon! Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a great night/day!
