Happy birthday to…fill in the blank

Hi everyone! It’s time for another challenge with Stamping Bella! Last week’s challenge was to create a tag.  I actually a tag plus a coordinating birthday card.

Michele Boyer - Stamping Bella

I used two of Stamping Bella’s latest releases from the new Stuffies line. (I love Stuffies. ♥) The image is from The Stuffie Gang and the sentiment is from Kitty and Mousie.

Michele Boyer - Stamping Bella

I like that there’s a blank space within the sentiment to hand write the recipient’s name. (I’ll do that later.)

I stamped the smaller “happy birthday”  sentiment onto the bear’s flag, carefully positioning with my MISTI and the clear imaging sheet of my Stamp-a-ma-jig. I could have just used the Stamp-a-ma-jig for positioning, but I love using the MISTI so much more. If I don’t get a perfect ink impression the first time, it’s so much easier to just re-ink the stamp and flip the lid of the MISTI. Best tool ever!

You Only Live Once, Lick the Bowl (Taylored Expressions)

Hi everyone! Today I’m using a fun new set from Taylored Expressions‘ most recent release, Life is a Kitchen. I love the vintage/retro feel  but I especially love this sentiment.  🙂  All images I’ve used here are from the set except the rolling pin which is from Flippin’ Awesome, also from the latest release. (You can find all November products here.)

Lick-the-Bowl-500

The bowl was stamped then die-cut using it’s coordinating Life is a Kitchen die, popped up on clear foam squares and a tiny brown pearl adhered to the center of the flower.

Three Quick and Easy DIY Bookmarks

Creating a bookmark to coordinate with a handmade card can be quick and easy as well as a nice surprise for the recipient.  I chose three previously designed  cards and created a matching bookmark for each using three different styles.

1a-Intro-Final-Magnet

The bookmark above includes a hidden magnet to snugly hold the place of the marked page.

3-Elephant-Final

To use this bookmark, the page is inserted between the longer panel and the elephant so the elephant appears to be floating or peeking over the top of the page.

2a-Final-Intro

The quickest and easiest of the three was designed with elements pulled directly from the card.

You can find step by step tutorials for each HERE on the Craftsy blog today.

you’re pretty darn awesome

This week Jennifer McGuire’s Sharing Handmade Kindness campaign is focusing on the community. Thank a fireman, a policeman, your local baker. Today I am thanking a librarian. Can you imagine the number of questions she answers each day, how many people she helps to find the information they seek?

Michele Boyer - Saturated Canary

I’ve wanted to color this Saturated Canary image for quite some time. What the Librarian Reads… This gave me the perfect excuse.

I colored with Copics, and used some tips from Coloring Faces & Hair to color the glasses.  If you look closely, you can see that I left a tiny bit of white around the inside rim of the lenses. I never would have thought to do that before reading the book, but it definitely creates a more realistic look. You will find many helpful coloring tips in Coloring Faces & Hair. I highly recommend checking it out!  🙂

thanks friend (paper smooches)

Hi everyone! Today I have an easy watercolor card to share using products from Paper Smooches‘ latest release.

I first used my Zig Clean Color brushes to create the background. I scribbled onto an acrylic block then used a water brush to transfer the color to watercolor paper.

Thanks-Friend-500

Once dried, I adhered a couple Dainty Flowers 2 then a white embossed sentiment from Natural Beauties. The tiny x’s, which I love to add to many of my cards, are from Stitched Dies.

you mean the world to me

Today I decided to do a bit of Copic coloring on a Saturated Canary digital stamp I’ve had for a while. I actually purchased it with the intention of coloring during Kathy‘s recent 30-day color challenge but it turned out I had waaaayyyyy too much going on in October and was only able to play along a few days. (To be honest, I did color pretty much every day but was unable to share pretty much all of it.)

Michele Boyer - Saturated Canary

Along with coloring Beautiful World, I used a new product found in the Copic store, Paper Deco Tape.

X-Press It Paper Deco Tape

Each package contains ten 15 ft. rolls. It’s super easy to tear or cut and is easily repositionable, leaving no tacky residue behind. It’s available in the collection of ten rolls shown above as well as a set of ten glitter paper rolls.

X-Press It Paper Deco Tape - Tape holder

As an extra little bonus, the package”post” pulls out so tape can easily be removed for use then replaced for convenient storage.

Michele Boyer - Saturated Canary

I used three of the colors to create a striped pattern above my colored image. With the colored image secured over grid paper, it was easy to apply the tape in perfectly straight lines.

Next step, printing the sentiment.

Michele Boyer - Saturated Canary

I printed the sentiment onto a piece of printer paper. I held the sentiment up to a window, then placed the colored panel on top. I could easily see the sentiment through the colored panel so I carefully positioned the sentiment where I wanted it to print then used the Deco Tape to hold the colored panel in place while traveling through my printer. For extra stability, I added shorter strips of tape to the left and right sides.

Michele Boyer - Saturated Canary

The tape held my colored panel perfectly in place with no shifting at all. Once printed, I carefully removed the tape and finished my card.

Copic – B21, B23, BG10, BG13, BG18, BG70, E00, E21, E23, E31, E35, E40, E41, E43, E50, E57, G28, R20, R29, R83, RV32, RV34, W00, W1, W3, W5, Y21, Y35, YG17

I have a few other uses in mind for X-Press It Deco Tape. I’ll share those soon! Thanks so much for stopping by!

warm and fuzzy wishes (stamping bella)

It’s Bellarific Friday!  Today the Stamping Bella team is using November’s Stamp of the Month, Valerie with Snowman by Mo Manning. She’s super cute and 20% off until November 30th.  This week there was also a sketch to follow, which I did.  🙂  (Sometimes I don’t…)

Michele Boyer - Stamping Bella

After coloring with Copics, I added falling snow using a Kirarina Wink White Pearl pen. (It’s awesome.)

The (partial) sentiment, from Warm and Fuzzy Penguins, was white embossed and then stapled across the front with my Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher.

Copic -BG11, BG13, BG18, BG70, BV02, E21, E23, E31, E33, E35, E40, E41, R20, R29, R39, Y17, Y38, YR24, W00, W1, W2, W9, W10; Kirarina Wink White Pearl

I’ll be sending this card out (along with some others) following Jennifer McGuire‘s amazing Share Handmade Kindness campaign. (You can read about it here.) What an incredible gesture. I have always been a big fan; my admiration just grows. I seriously do not know how she does everything she does. And it’s all amazing.  Always.

Next week’s challenge is to create a tag using any current Stamping Bella image. Then email your card to Emily by next Thursday to be entered to win some Bella Bucks!  (All challenge details can be found HERE.)

Taylored Expressions November Release — Now Available!

It’s Taylored Expressions November release day! You can find all of the new products now available for sale right HERE!

Today I’m sharing two cards using new Flippin’ Awesome. I love the retro feel. Be sure to check out Life’s a Kitchen too, a perfect companion set!

On my first card, I used the crock pot, stamped onto new Stitched Rectangle Stacklets. The sentiment (which I love, haha) was stamped onto a Stitched Circle Stacklet.

Michele Boyer - Taylored Expressions

I covered a Maya Road What’s Cookin’ chipboard spoon then added a bit of shadow with a Copic marker. In the center of each flower on the crock pots, I placed a teeny tiny dark brown pearl.

Copic marker – W00

Next, I stamped the whisks (in two steps, one for the whisk, one for the colored handle), then die-cut and layered atop two Stitched Rectangle Stacklets. I added Glossy Accents to the handles for a bit of dimension and shine.

Take-Whisks-500

The sentiment was stamped onto a scalloped panel from new Mini Colorblock Cutting Plate.

Calendar Critters, a Taylored Expressions Preview

Hi everyone! Today I’m sharing a sneak peek of Taylored Expressions‘ November release which takes place tomorrow, November 5th at  7 a.m. PST.

I’ve used new Calendar Critters with Critter Correspondence and new Mini Colorblock Cutting Plate. Calendar Critters is a complete set of critters, one for each month of the year. They can be combined with cute little scene building elements which fit perfectly onto these 3×4 calendar sheets or can be used on notecards as I’ve done here.

Michele Boyer - Taylored Expressions

After coloring the turkey with Copics, he was die-cut with the corresponding Calendar Critters die, then placed with grass and a sun cut from new Build a Scene Calendar and Build a Scene Trees. I used Little Bits Leaves, also colored with Copics then sprinkled around.

Next, I used the cute moose Calendar Critter with Build a Scene Christmas (6×6) patterned papers and snowdrifts from Build a Scene Calendar. Once colored, I added Glossy Accents to the ornament for dimension and shine.

Michele Boyer - Taylored Expressions

After adhering Little Bits Snowflake Confetti, I adhered tiny gold rhinestones to the centers of each.

love you (paper smooches)

Today I have another card featuring new releases from Paper Smooches. I’ve used new Bookplates dies along with cute birds from Natural Beauties. (Sentiment from Hip Hands.)

Michele Boyer - Paper Smooches

I first stamped and colored the birds and twig, The bookplate was cut from tablet backing then kraft card stock and colored over with a Copic marker. In the center of the flowers, I added slightly sparkly dots using a Dandelion Kirarina Wink pen.

To create the open scallop border, I first die-cut white card stock using the scalloped Borders 2 die, then taped the die very close to the first die-cut, aligning the scallops, and cut again. Super easy.  🙂
