MFT Teasers, Day 1

Welcome to Day 1 of the August release teasers with My Favorite Things!  Through Wednesday the team will be previewing the new sets and products (leading up to the release Wednesday night at 10 p.m. EST), but we’re adding in some extra fun this month — TEASER PRIZES!

We will be giving away NINE new stamp sets this week!  For each day of teasers, there will be a prize hidden on one of the designer’s blog posts.  As you make your way through the Teaser Time posts, simply leave a comment on each blog for your chance to win a free new release set!   A winner will be chosen from the comments on the pre-selected blog before tomorrow’s teaser list goes live and will be posted on Kim’s blog HERE.   You can play along each day for your chance to win.  As always, you can find the master list of participating designers HERE on Kim’s blog.  Today’s prize is a How Does Your Garden Grow set.   Be sure to check tomorrow to see if YOU are the winner.

Today the team is previewing two new sets, Clearly Sentimental about Gardens and How Does Your Garden Grow.  My sample uses the second (and two fab new Die-namics die-cuts)!

You’re Quite Contrary

    MFTYQC

I stamped ‘Mary’ onto a cream MFT Perfect Paper Panel, paper-pieced her dress, placing a pop dot beneath the bottom edge of her dress.  The remainder was colored with markers.  I then cut her out and MFTYQCCUtucked her among her garden of pink blooms.

I cut out the blooms and leaves using one of the new Die-namics releases, Flower and Leaf Trio.

Along the bottom of my card, I used another of the new Die-namics dies, Small Scallop Border.  I cut three strips of the small scallops and alternately layered them.

             MFTDFLT                MFTDSSB

(You can click on the thumbnails to see the dies in a larger format.)

youre-quite-contrary-in.jpgOn the inside, I used a second sentiment from the set, a leftover scrap of the floral print and two more die-cut flowers.

My card is pulling double-duty today as it’s also a sample for this month’s Guest Designer Challenge hosted by Yours Truly and my (mostly) super-sweet friend and fellow DT member, Jody.  Click HERE to find all the details about becoming MFT’s next Guest Designer!  🙂

For a list of direct links to other designer samples for today’s teasers, check out Kim’s blog after 11 a.m. EST.

Thanks so much for stopping by! I’ll be back tomorrow…and the next day, and the next day…  🙂

It’s a Cupcake Kind of Day

I’ve been a huge fan of Christy Croll for quite some time.  She has such a cute/fun style.  I was so happy to see that she’s opened a digi-shop, Tiddly Inks, and so yesterday I did a bit of shopping.  🙂

It’s a Cupcake Kind of Day

    TICCKOD

I love this little girl…that curly hair…her sweet face.  She’s my favorite.  She’s a Curly Q

TICCKDCUI printed her onto a white Perfect Paper Panel (by My Favorite Things), colored her with markers and then paper-pieced the cupcake liner using a solid-“ish” paper from Basic Grey’s new Olivia paper pad.

The sentiment is from Christy’s Handwritten Sentiments which I also printed onto another solid-“ish” paper from the pack.

I can’t wait to see what else Christy does with these little cuties of hers.  🙂

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a great day!

JiFFy Time!

Hi everyone!  It’s time to get together once again with my JiFFy friends!  This month we have a special guest joining us, Dana Seymour.   (Check out her blog.  Her work is incredible!)

This month Julie sent each of us this cute plaid/pink paper by We R Memory Keepers.  Once the paper was on its way to everyone, Alli revealed that she had selected the chair from Papertrey Ink’s Chair-ished.  I used the chair and added in some elements from PTI’s On My Couch.  (What a great pair!)

Let’s Get Together!

   PTILGT

I paper-pieced my chairs and coffee cups, adding a bit of shading with a gray marker.  There’s a tiny brad in place of the tack holding the picture and the sentiment is clear embossed over black ink to help the words stand out a bit better on the pink paper.  Along the bottom of the card I layered the Jumbo Scallop Die-namics border die by My Favorite Things.

Be sure to check out what the other JiFFy girls did with this same paper and image!  (Lori is super-busy and taking a bit of time off.  Hugs to you, my friend!)

Have a Sizzlin’ Birthday

Time for a challenge with Kraftin Kimmie Stamps!  This week I am the hostess with the mostest (lol) and I am challenging everyone to make a Mostly Monochromatic card or project.  If you’d like to play along, you can find the details HERE on the Krafty Blog.  If you DO play along, be sure to link your creation there on the Krafty Blog for your chance to win a free Lounging Miles stamp as I’ve used here.  Also, this week’s challenge will run for two weeks instead of one as SOME of us will be attending CHA.  (Unfortunately, I am not one of them.  I’m only a wee bit jealous…)  So play as many times as you’d like.  The winner will be announced Saturday, August 7th.

Have a Sizzlin’ Birthday

   KKHASBD

With the 90+ degrees we’ve had here (we have a heat index of 110 to 115 today–what?!), we’re all sizzlin’.  It has been NAS-TEEEE!  Nothing like going to the mailbox (which is NOT far) and coming back drenched.

Anyway, I made this card for my brother’s birthday.  I hope he likes it.

KKHASSCUI created the sentiment by combining one part Kimmie’s Beachy Sentiments/one part Everyday Sentiments

After coloring Miles with markers, I paper-pieced his shorts and popped up his little sunglasses.

You can find more DT samples of Mostly Monochromatic on the Krafty Blog.  I hope you’ll play along!  🙂

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great day!

The card I’m sharing today is for a challenge hosted by Taylor VanBruggen and you can see the details here

I’ve used All Dressed Up from the Jolinne collection at My Favorite Things. (The set is currently out of stock but sure to be back soon!)

I stamped the girl onto a white MFT Perfect Paper Panel, drew in the bit of lace on her socks, paper-pieced her dress and colored the remainder with markers.

There’s a tiny crystal flower on her purse and she’s popped up on dimensional boosters.

MFTRFTo make the flower, I used MFT’s new Rolled Flower Die-namics die and pink felt (also found in the Die-namics category in the MFT store but also currently sold out.  I’m not surprised.  The felt is awesome).

Instead of beginning my roll from the outside edge (which I guess is what you’re SUPPOSED to do), I started with the inside.  The leaves were cut free-hand from olive felt.

On the inside I stamped a partial silhouette of the girl and a sentiment from MFT’s Essential Sentiments.

You’re Too Sweet

        MFTYTS

In looking through my pile of unused stamps I found this little cutie, Lollipop Girl from the Pure Innocence line at My Favorite Things (currently MFTYTSCUout of stock but I’m sure it will be back soon).

I kept my card pretty simple.  No layers other than the scallops along the bottom (using MFT’s Jumbo Scallop Die-namics border die).

The background was created using an image from the I Want Candy set.

I cut a strip of crocheted lace to fit the exact width of the card front (because I didn’t want anything wrapped around to the inside).  I placed the tiniest dots of glue along each cut thread to hold down the ends and keep them from fraying.  Then I layered on top one of my favorite lavendar plaid ribbons.  It isn’t anything fancy or expensive.  It came from Michaels, but that color is so hard to find and I just love it.  (I’ve been hoarding it.)

MFTYTSINThe inside is pretty simple too.  A couple more layers of scallops and the word “sweet,” repeatedly stamped along the bottom.

If you decide to play along with Kim’s challenge, don’t forget to list keyword DTGD10KimHughes so we can see everything in one spot.  🙂

I’ll be back tomorrow!

To go along with Who’s That Harvest Girl we have an additional release tonight of a Strawberry Carton and Strawberries Template for $3.95.  (I’m sure you’ve seen it along the way in tonight’s hop.  It’s SUPER cute!)  You can find it in the MFT store HERE.

That’s Just Rotten

    MFTTJR

I used my favorite sentiment from the set.  🙂   I love the play on words.

MFTTJRCUThe basket is actually empty, the set coming with several different items with which to fill it.  I chose apples.  I tried my best to make my apples look somewhat rotten without making them look like a bunch of dark brown blobs.  I didn’t want to add too much color though.

Once all of the paper-piecing was in place, I added the stitching and a bit of shading with gray markers.

On the actual stamp, the bottom left corner of the basket is cut straight across, even with the bottom of the image panel.  Since I wanted it to extend past the border a bit, I did not ink that corner of the basket (the straight line), stamped, then drew in that corner with a black marker.

MFTTJRINFor a coordinating finish to the inside, I used the same papers and a “thinking of you” type sentiment (from MFT’s Essential Sentiments set).
Your next stop along the hop is with my sweet friend, JODY.  I’m sure she has something amazingly creative to share!  (She’s like that.)

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Amber Ink Grand Opening!

Welcome to the Amber Ink. Grand Opening Blog Frolic! Today the Amber Ink. store officially opens its doors!  Amber invited me to join the celebration along with her Brilliant th(Ink)Tank Girls, and everyone is excited to show off the new products!

Hi!

      AIH

I’ve used “Oh What a Doll” and super-fun “Oh What a Doll Beach Clothes.” Both are available as clear stamps or in digi-form.  I also used “Make a Scene: Under the Sea” (available in digi form only).  And I used some of Amber’s AIHCU2new digi-papers, “Tiny Dolphin Paisley Blue,” “Pink Ombre Dolphin Paisley” and for the girl’s swimsuit and fins “Pink Ombre Tiny Dolphin Paisley.”

My underwater “tree” was cut out and partially adhered to the main image panel.  I applied adhesive only beneath the stems and trunk so that I could slightly bend up each leaf.  The coral was cut out and adhered using pop dots.

So not only do we have eye candy for you, but we’re giving away some secret hidden prizes along the way. You won’t know where they are hiding, so be sure to leave some love wherever you go. Winners will be chosen from the comments on the pre-selected blog posts.

Below is a list of everyone participating today.  Have fun!

Sadly, It’s Got to Go

Hi everyone.  With the closing of Cornish Heritage Farms, I’ve decided to clear out most of my stamp sets.  I can’t use them for publication work, and there are only so many stamps I can justify keeping.  I’ve saved out my faves, but there’s still plenty that, sadly, must go.

I’ve marked everything at less than 50%.  All sets are in the original packaging.  Most are used but a few are new and uncut.

You can find my list with prices HERE (or tab above my blog header).  If you’d like anything, please email to me your list and zip code (so I can calculate postage) and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can.  (“Contact Me” button beneath my photo.)  As things go, I’ll mark them as pending or delete them from the list.

Thanks!  🙂

You’re the Apple of my Eye!

   KKAOME

Here I’ve used Snow White.  Today she’s wearing one of her fancier gowns made from a Pink Paislee Queen Bee print.  After stamping the KKAOMECUgown onto the patterned paper, I used a couple shades of gray (Copic) to add depth among the layers and folds.

On the sentiment panel, I lightly stamped Snow White’s apple accessory image.

Your next stop along the way is with STEVEN LEARY, creator of our adorable little Miles the Mouse.  🙂

Here’s the hop list just in case something goes wonky along the way:
