Happy Father’s Day

Hi everyone.  I almost forgot to post this card today.  (I’ve been a little busy…)

As soon as I saw Papertrey Ink‘s Southwest Style, I knew I must have it.  With relatives living in Arizona, what could be more perfect? I added in Keep It Simple: Father mini stamp set to create the perfect card for my father-in-law.

Before stamping, I did a bit of watercolor smooshing to create a soft background. The border strips were stamped and I added a sprinkling of the tiniest brown pearls.

Wishing all the dads the best of days.  ♥

JiFFy Time!

Hi everyone!  It’s time to get together once again with my JiFFy friends!  This month we have a special guest joining us, Dana Seymour.   (Check out her blog.  Her work is incredible!)

This month Julie sent each of us this cute plaid/pink paper by We R Memory Keepers.  Once the paper was on its way to everyone, Alli revealed that she had selected the chair from Papertrey Ink’s Chair-ished.  I used the chair and added in some elements from PTI’s On My Couch.  (What a great pair!)

I paper-pieced my chairs and coffee cups, adding a bit of shading with a gray marker.  There’s a tiny brad in place of the tack holding the picture and the sentiment is clear embossed over black ink to help the words stand out a bit better on the pink paper.  Along the bottom of the card I layered the Jumbo Scallop Die-namics border die by My Favorite Things.

Be sure to check out what the other JiFFy girls did with this same paper and image!  (Lori is super-busy and taking a bit of time off.  Hugs to you, my friend!)

40 Christmas Cards = Tingly Wrist

My cards are finally done.  I still need to sign and address them, but I’m so glad the mass production portion of the task has ended.  Unfortunately, my left wrist has taken the brunt of it.  I have this annoying tingling sensation.  I’ve had it before and it eventually goes away, but in the meantime it drives me nuts.  But the cards are done and that’s what matters most (right now).

Because I needed to make 40, my goal was to keep the cards fairly simple.  They ended up being not quite as simple as I had planned, but that’s ok.   Since I wanted to use Papertrey Ink’s Holiday Button Bits (and because I was running out of time), I decided to check their gallery for some inspiration.  In my search, I found this card by Niki Estes.  Obviously I changed some things, but I thought her card was cute and went from there.

PTISWCUAs Nicki did, I used Liquid Applique for the “icing” on the gingerbread man.  And although it goes against my own personal  rules to use buttons without string of some kind, I could not bring myself to thread 80 buttons (!), so they’re naked and I’m fine with that.  🙂

These will mostly go to family and family friends.  I have some others I’ll be sending out as well.  (…Others of which I did NOT make 40.)

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a great day!
