Santa was Here (a little early)

Hello.  🙂

I was hoping to post a birthday card for my son today (he’s now 11) but he’s been home with strep and I haven’t had a chance to make a card.  Poor kid.  I think this morning I’ll tie a ribbon around his antibiotic, take a picture and sing.  🙁

Anyway, I’ll quickly let you know I made my decision about the brewer.  This pretty baby now graces my countertop:

Actually, I saw it in Costco.  Great price.  Now I’m on a mission to find the coffee I like.

I tried Newman’s Special Blend.  Shocked   If I had chest hair, it would have been zinging into the tightest of curls. Wow, that is strong stuff.  I tried Caribou.  It was good but their coffee always seems to bother my stomach a bit.  I liked the Donut Shop and I LOVE Chai Latte as a treat.  (Definately not a morning drink though.)  So far I think my fave is Tully’s Kona Blend.  Maybe it didn’t seem as strong as Newman’s because I used flavored cream?

So what’s your favorite?  Are there flavored coffees that are especially tasty?  How about a decaf or half-caf?  I wish you could pick one of this, two of that,  just as a first-time try.  I know you can order assortments from the Keurig website, but I don’t know which one (or two).  There are so many choices, it’s overwhelming.  I still need to try my Chock Full o’ Nuts (lol) in My K-cup too.

Anyway, I’m off to care for my little sickie.  🙁  Thanks for helping me to make my decision.  Now please help me with what to put in it.  🙂

Have a great day!

Political Campaigning, Just How Far Will They Go?

I’ll point out right here in the beginning that this is not stamping related.  If you’re browsing for cute, pretty pictures, you won’t find any today.  Those of you who frequent my blog know that I don’t often share much about my personal life.  You’re here, afterall, for stamping.  And those of you who really do know me, know that I do not like controversy.  I do not like conflict and I very seldom rock the boat.  I am not speaking as a Repulican or a Democrat today.  I am speaking as a mom.

My husband, son (10 yrs. old) and I decided to go out for dinner last night while our daughter (8) was having a sleepover with a friend.  My son chose Glory Days Grill, a popular sports restaurant.  It’s his favorite.

We sat down, ordered our meal.  While waiting, we’re watching different programs on the numerous tv’s all over the place.  The two screens in line of vision to my son and myself were showing an episode of Seinfeld (Fox network) and a hockey game.   My son was going back and forth between the two.  The speaker at our table was turned off so there was no sound other than the typically loud restaurant chatter surrounding us.  At one point I looked over at my son and he had a complete look of horror on his face.  Simultaneously, I hear other children seated nearby exclaiming, “Mommy!  Mommy!”  I look up at the large-screen tv showing the Seinfeld episode and right there, in full color, larger than life are pictures of aborted fetuses.   I COULD NOT BELIEVE MY EYES.  I quickly covered my son’s eyes but it was too late.  In the background I could hear other parents comforting and offering some sort of explanation to their children.  I was APPALLED.    It was SEVEN O’CLOCK, early evening (not that ANY time of day would be acceptable)  and here was some politician trying to win people over with this graphic mess.

My son spent 80% of the rest of the evening with his head on the table, not eating his food.  Honestly, I had a hard time eating as well.  Some of the customers complained to the restaurant management but it wasn’t their fault.  I blame the politician…and the network.

Yes, our children will eventually be exposed to this type of thing, but what gives politicians the right to choose the time?  Is ten years of age appropriate?  How about seven?  Four?  Ridiculous.

If tv programs are rated, with certain shows only being aired at certain times of the night due to these ratings, why are political ads not considered as well?   This was far worse than anything I’ve EVER seen on tv, ANY time of day.  It was completely over the line.

So I spent today’s Sunday morning breakfast with my 10-yr. old son, talking about political campaigns.  And abortions.  Isn’t that nice?

I’ll be back soon with something cute.  Or pretty.  I promise.

CHF — It’s REALLY Gotta Go

Hi all.  🙂

I still have a bit of my Cornish Heritage Farms stamps left and as much as I’d like to keep some of these, I just can’t.  I had previously marked each set at or below 50% of their retail value.  I’m grouping the different lines together and marking what’s left of each LINE (as a group) at an additional 50% off of my original asking price.

First come, first served!  Please leave a comment here on this post telling me which GROUP of stamps you’re interested in (so that it’s clear who is actually first in line), then send me an email indicating your interest.  Also, please send your zip code so I can let you know what the postage will be.  (Purchaser responsible for shipping.)

Please give them a good home.  🙂

Sadly, It’s Got to Go

Hi everyone.  With the closing of Cornish Heritage Farms, I’ve decided to clear out most of my stamp sets.  I can’t use them for publication work, and there are only so many stamps I can justify keeping.  I’ve saved out my faves, but there’s still plenty that, sadly, must go.

I’ve marked everything at less than 50%.  All sets are in the original packaging.  Most are used but a few are new and uncut.

You can find my list with prices HERE (or tab above my blog header).  If you’d like anything, please email to me your list and zip code (so I can calculate postage) and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can.  (“Contact Me” button beneath my photo.)  As things go, I’ll mark them as pending or delete them from the list.

Thanks!  🙂

What are YOU doing Saturday?

Hi everyone!  TGIM!  🙂

As I’m sure you already know, this Saturday is World Card Making Day, a holiday created four years ago by the Paper Crafts team to bring people together through card making and to help kick off the busy card making season.  It’s a great day to get together with friends, make cards, (eat junk) and just have fun!

I have a super-quick card to share today.

Welcome Baby

    CHF WBE

My cards usually take hours…sometimes even days (sadly, I’m not kidding) but this one came together very quickly.  And I think it’s really cute (if I may say so).  I added a tiny dot to the elephant’s eye using a black 3-d glaze pen.  It adds just a touch more interest to the card, I think.

I hope you’re able to enjoy some crafting time on Saturday…or today…or tomorrow.  🙂

Updated SU for Sale

Hi.  I’m back.  🙂

Just wanted to let everyone know I added a couple more sets to my “Stampin’ Up For Sale” page (here).

I also decided to sell all of my SU Classic ink pads (sold by color family) and my Craft ink Stampin’ Spots.  All classic ink pads have been freshly reinked, and all of the spots are either barely used or unopened.

Thanks!

STAMPIN’ UP! for Sale

Hi everyone!

I’m hoping you will help me clear out some Stampin’ Up! stuff I no longer need or use.  I’ve added a new page in the upper right-hand corner above my banner (or click here) where I’ve listed lots of stamp sets (some current, many retired) and some accessories.

Please let me know if you have any questions.  To send an email, click on the “Contact me” button to the right (under my photo).

A Big Thanks, Some Pics and a Sale

I needed two “Arizona-ish” thank you cards, one for my very generous and hospitable in-laws and the other for one of their friends who brought toys and games for the kids to play with while we were visiting.  It truly was a fabulous vacation and we’re looking forward to going back.

Muchas Gracias

MGInka

I used Inka’s Muchas Gracias which I purchased from Jacksonbelle Embellishments (whom, by the way, is having a 25% off EVERYTHING sale now through Monday.  Enter code SPRING09 -all uppercase- at check-out to receive your discount).  I popped up the little dog’s ears and paper-pieced the hat, cactus and pot.  I found the paper (by The Paper Loft) at a scrapbook store in Arizona.  I hope I can find more here!  I love that flower print (and you will see it again very soon on a different card).

Here are some pics from our trip.  You can click on the thumbnails for larger views.

Tagged (x3)

Hi everyone!  I don’t usually do these things, mostly because by the time I get it, everyone has already been tagged.  But I was tagged by three friends (all in one day–thank you Lori, Carole and Amy! lol) so I thought I better do this one. 🙂

I’m to post my sixth photo in my sixth photo folder and look what I found…my children acting like they actually like one another.

      JKD

We’d just spent a busy day in Disney.  Here we’re leaving the park.  I noticed this small moment of camaraderie and asked my husband to quickly take a picture so we’d have proof that they sometimes do get along.  Usually if one touches the other in any way, it becomes a big battle of name-calling, tattling and shouting.

I’m now supposed to choose six friends to tag…but honestly, I think everyone has already done it!  So I’m going to be a party-pooper and not tag anyone.  (I’m sorry.)

Thanks for stopping by!  I’ll be back tomorrow with our monthly JFF Challenge (I think…if not I’ll have something else for you to see.)   Have a great day! 🙂

Stamp It! Cards and Moxie Fab Give-aways!

Stamping HeavenI love stamping (obviously) and look forward to my paper crafting magazines making their way into my mailbox each month.  But one of my favorite publications is Paper Crafts’ new Stamp It! Cards because it focuses solely on stamping (and because it’s fabulous).

(Comment on this post by Sunday, March 22nd, for a chance to win 15–yes, FIFTEEN stamp sets!  Wow! Shocked )
