Hoppin’ with Kimmie’s Tea Party

Hi everyone!  I’m back today for a hop using Kraftin’ Kimmie’s new Spring Tea Party kit.  If you’ve just come from Tara’s fantabulous blog, then you’re right on track.  If you just popped in here, you might want to go back to the Challenge Blog where it all begins.  Be sure to leave comments along the way as two lucky winners will receive some free Tea Party images and accessories!  🙂

It’s been so much fun sharing samples of these new images.  Even though I just posted a card yesterday using Gabrielle, I decided to do another.   Afterall, I like her the best!

Make it a Grande

   KKGMIAG2

This might be my favorite of the cards I have made using these new releases.  I love the “Cold Raspberry” patterned paper by Jillibean KKMIAGCU2Soup.  I love the circle… the brown pearls.  I just love brown.  And I love Gabrielle’s grande cup!

In the actual image, she is holding a dainty little tea cup.  But I replaced it with one of the accessory images that comes in the kit, a “grande” tea cup.  The smaller image is still there beneath the larger one.  I just colored it in right along with the hair so the bits that you can see through the cup handle pretty much blend in.

I used a kraft knife to carefully cut around Gabrielle’s thumb, then inserted the larger cup handle and placed a pop dot beneath the cup.  A tiny dot of glue holds her thumb down onto the handle once the cup was in place.

For even spacing of the pearls along the edge of the circle, I used the larger holes on my SU piercing template.  The pearls fit perfectly and made the equal spacing very easy.

The Spring Tea Party Kit is only available from the Kraftin’ Kimmie store, it’s only available for a limited time, and right now you can get it at a discount.  You can see all the images and sentiments included in this kit here.

Your next stop along the hop is with DONNA, one of my (many) stamping/coloring idols.  🙂

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a GREAT day!  (And now, I am going to take a short break.  I’ll be back soon!)

Kraftin’ Kimmie’s Spring Tea Party, Day 5!

Today the Krafty team is introducing the fifth image (my favorite) from the Spring Tea Party kit.  It’s also  challenge day for us Krafty girls and this week Kimmie has asked us to use something old.  It can be anything.  Since I can’t even remember how long I’ve had this ribbon, I’m calling it old.

Life is like a cup of tea…

  KKGCOT

This is Gabrielle.  Isn’t she pretty?  I just love her!  (You’ll be seeing her again very soon!)

KKGCOTCUShe started out as a blonde, but then I refilled a brown Copic just a bit too much and a big ol’ plop of ink landed right on top of her head.  So…now she’s a brunette.   Hopefully you can’t see the plop.  I did my best to hide it.

From the Tea Sentiment set, I used “Life is like a cup of tea, it’s all in how you make it.”  That is true.  🙂

If you’d like to play along with this week’s challenge and have a chance to win a free stamp from Kraftin’ Kimmie, you can check out the details HERE.   You’ll also find more samples of Gabrielle!

I’ll be back tomorrow with a final Spring Tea Party Krafty hop!  Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Kraftin’ Kimmie’s Spring Tea Party, Day 4

Hi everyone.  I will be super short today.  I have one whopper of a headache and really need to get away from this computer.

Today the Krafty girls are sharing samples using the fourth main image from the new Spring Tea Party kit.  This is Lisette.

Savor the Moment

   KKSTMR2

Again…I love her hair.  🙂

KKSMCUSame as usual…I colored with Copics and pencils.

I used a clear 3-d glaze pen to add a bit of shine to the cherry and dotted icing along the bottom of the cake.

Please check out what the other Krafty girls have done with this same image.  (Blog links to the right under “Kimmie’s Krafty Girls.”)

I’ll be back tomorrow with my favorite image from this set.  🙂

Kraftin’ Kimmie’s Tea Party, Day 3

Today the Krafty girls are introducing the third image from the Spring Tea Party kit.  (There are two images left to be revealed.  Are you excited?  We’re saving the best -in my opinion- for last!)  🙂

Java Great Day!

    KKJGD

I’d like to introduce Henri.  He’s one dapper dude, isn’t he?

I colored him using a combination of markers and pencils.

My coffee cup and steam were created using a bowl from Maya Road’s mini What’s Cookin’ chipboard set, and the handle and steam are from a Making Memories flourish pack.  All pieces were colored with markers.

I hope you’ll check out what the other Krafty girls did with Henri.  You can click on their links from my right-most sidebar (Kimmie’s Krafty Girls).

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Kraftin’ Kimmie’s Tea Party, Day 2

Hi everyone!  I’m back today to share the second image from Kimmie’s Spring Tea Party kit.  Meet Giselle.

Care for a Spot of Tea?

  KKGSOT

Isn’t she fancy?  Once again, I really like the hair.  I don’t know what it is about Twisty hair, but I love it.  (Not that I want MINE like this, but on HER, it’s fabulous!)

KKGSOTCUI colored Giselle with Copics, then cut her out.  This is something I haven’t done much in the past, but I seem to be on a “cutting it out” kick lately.

After cutting the circle(s) with my Nesties, I adhered Giselle, allowing parts of the image to extend past the border.  To add a bit of dimension, I placed a small dimensional booster beneath her tea pot.

I cut several strips of the tiny pearls and adhered them around the edge of the circle, omitting the areas where Giselle extends past the border.

          KKGSOTIN

I placed the sentiment on the inside of the card, used the little teapot accessory stamp in the corner and added more tiny pearls on the doily/scalloped border.

The kit is available now (only from the Kraftin’ Kimmie store) HERE, for a limited time only.

Want to see more of Giselle?  Check out my fellow design team members’ blogs.  Links are on the right sidebar under “Kimmie’s Krafty Girl.”  🙂

Buttons and Bows, Oh My!

Hi All!  Are you ready for the whirlwind of posts?  I have something to share everyday for the next seven days.  Some days two posts, one day I even have three.  Sorry!  Hopefully you’ll like them!  🙂

It’s time for another challenge with Kraftin’ Kimmie.  This week Andrea has challenged us to use our buttons and bows.  If you’d like to play along, please post a link on Kimmie’s Challenge Blog so you’ll have a chance to win a free Puppy Love stamp!  (Speaking of the challenge blog, did you see the little snippets of previews for a special Kraftin’ Kimmie release?  We’ll be posting samples beginning Tuesday!  Stay tuned!)

I Am Woman Hear Me ROAR

   KKIAWHMR

Is she a sassy thing or what?  I thought I’d sweeten her up a bit with some delicately patterned paper and pretty ribbon.  Did it work? lol.

KKHMRCUI colored her with Copics and added ground/grass with pencils.

I wanted to add a tiny bow to the back of Polly’s dress.  (That’s Polly the Bar Wench…hee, hee…cracks me up!)

I first tried to tie the bow myself but it didn’t look that great.  So I used the smallest ‘setting’ on my Bow Easy.  The bow is just a tad bigger than the bow on the actual stamp, but it works.

The sassy sentiment to go along with this sassy lassy is on the inside of the card.

            KKHMRIN

Be sure to check out the other design team samples on the Krafty Blog!  I’ll be back in a bit with this month’s JiFFy challenge!

A Kraftin’ Kimmie Challenge and a Button Wrap How-to

It’s Saturday and that means it’s time for a challenge with my Kraftin’ Kimmie friends (and stamps).  This week Vicki has us using two or more KK images to create a scene.  I decided to use the boy (minus the dog) and the girl (minus the wagon) from Kimmie’s latest release.

Forever Friends

   KKFFBG

It wasn’t difficult to omit the wagon from the Puppy Love image or the dog from the Gone Fishin’ image, but removing the dog leash was a bit KKFFCUtricky.  After inking the image, I soaked the tip of a pointed q-tip in baby wipe solution (pooled at the bottom of the wipes container) and then wiped away the leash lines from the stamp.  After stamping, I then drew back in the missing lines from the overalls and bucket handle using a fine tip black marker.

To make things easier, the boy was stamped, colored and cut out, then adhered over the girl.  There was no way I was going to try to mask this.  (Plus I like that the ends of the boy’s hat are lifted a bit.)

Be sure to check out the other design team samples on Kimmie’s Challenge Blog HERE.  And if you’d like to play along, please post a link on the challenge blog and you’ll have a chance to win a free stamp from Kraftin’ Kimmie!

Button Wrap How-to

I’ve had quite a few requests to post a tutorial on how I tie string around my buttons as I’ve done on this card, so I took a few extra photos along the way to show you how I do that. It’s very easy.

     KKBW1KKBW1KKBW1

First I mark my button holes with either a pencil or the tip of a paper-piercer.  Punch through the marks with the piercer, inserting the piercer as far as it will go so the holes will be large enough to slip a large threaded needle through without tugging.

       KKBW2

Beginning from the back, stitch your button to the card front, leaving the two long tails of string hanging behind.

     KKBW3

Bring the two ends from the back and begin tying the string around the button.   At this time you can adjust the distance between the two strings on the right side of the button.  Tie tightly once.

       KKBW4

And then tie again, knotting the string.  Use sharp scissors to nip off the ends of the strings just beneath the edge of the button.  Done.  🙂

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Kraftin’ Kimmie’s February Release Hop

Hi everyone!  Welcome to Kraftin’ Kimmie’s February release blog hop!  If you want to start from the beginning, just head over to the Kraftin’ Kimmie Challenge Blog.  As you hop from blog to blog, be sure to leave a comment at each and every stop because three lucky stampers will win packages of stamps from the new release!  And when you’re done hopping, be sure to head over to the Kraftin Kimmie store, because all the new images are available NOW!

This month’s releases include four new fantastic Emmylou images from Crissy Armstrong, two adorable Cindy and Mindy images from Jean Grant, five new swashbluckling pirate images from Annie Rodrigue (Moonlight Whispers) and a new set of coordinating Pirate Sentiments.  And you’ll get to check out all the new stamps throughout the hop!!

Gimme that Booty!

   KKGTB4

This is Alicia, the Strawberry Pirate.  She’s the first release of one of Annie’s original works of art.  And guess what?  Each and every order placed at Kraftin’ Kimmie Stamps from Sunday, February 14th to Monday, February 15th will be eligible to win a free 5″ x 7″ print of Alicia!  (You can see it here.)  So one random winner will be receiving this illustration in with her (or his) package!  Exciting?  I think so!

KKGTBCU2Once I had colored the image, I added dots of black glaze pen to the strawberries, her sword and dress.  If my daughter hadn’t “misplaced” my clear glaze pen, I would have added dots of that onto Alicia’s hair beads.  (Hopefully it will turn up soon.)

Your next stop along the hop is with our very sweet and talented DIANA.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Kraftin’ Kimmie Previews, Day 3

Hi everyone.  I’m back with another pirate preview.  Since it’s Saturday, that also means it’s time for a challenge on Kimmie’s Krafty blog.  This week Melanie has challenged us to “Stash the Booty.” We’re incorporating a hidden or secret component on our card.

You Are a Treasure

  YAAT

This is Billy Blyth.  Isn’t he cute?  I think so.

I got the ‘double row of stitching’ idea from my friend, Lori

For my hidden component, I decided to hide a thank you gift card behind Billy.

X Marks the Spot

        XMTSGC

I adhered a double thickness of foam tape behind the focal image on the top, bottom and left sides (except where the twill runs beneath the image), so the gift card slides easily behind and won’t fall out the other side.  It also helped to mat the gift card onto black cardstock cut just a tad shorter than the open space between the foam tape (measuring from top to bottom).

BBCUThe colors I used on Billy’s face are a little darker than those I usually use as I wanted his face to look just a wee bit rugged.

I traced a thin line of black glitter onto his earring and used a black 3-d glaze pen on his buttons.

You can check out the challenge details here.  If you play along, be sure to post a link on the challenge blog as one random stamper will receive a free Cutthroat Lizzie image!

You can find links to other design team previews on the challenge blog or under my “Kimmie’s Krafty Girls” category on my right-most sidebar.

I’ll be back tonight (tomorrow…1 a.m. EST) for Kimmie’s February release blog hop!  Thanks so much for visiting!  Have a great day!
