Just Believe (simon says stamp)

Hi everyone. Today I’m sneaking in one more card using Simon Says Stamp‘s new Secret Garden stamp set with coordinating dies . I also used their Believe die.

Michele Boyer - Simon Says Stamp

After stamping the fairy onto X-Press It Blending Card, I colored with Copics then added subtle sparkle to her wings and wand using a clear Zig Wink of Stella glitter brush.

Copic markers – BG10, BG11, C2, E00, E11, E31, E35, R01, R83, R85, RV32, Y21, YG03, YG07

I used the glitter brush over the sponged background as well as the Believe die-cut. (I just love that fairy. She’s so cute.)

Thanks so much for visiting today!

Hangin’ with my Gnomies (simon says stamp)

Hi everyone! Have you seen the latest Simon Says Stamp release? Oh my gosh, such cuteness! I just had to have Secret Garden with it’s coordinating dies.  (I also had to have one of the new wine themed sets. I’ll share that later.)

Michele Boyer - Simon Says Stamp

All of my images were stamped onto X-Press It Blending Card and colored with Copic markers. To “hang” the gnome from the sign, I cut a little slit around his hand to insert the bottom edge of the sign, and I cut off his feet (gasp!) so that I could extend them past the top edge of the sign. (That portion is raised on 1/2″ foam tape.)

Copic markers – E00, E07, E09, E11, E23, E31, E33, E35, E39, E41, E42, E43, E57, E59, G94, R01, W1, W2, Y21, YG63, YG99, YR23

To assemble all the pieces, I used X-Press It’s Medium Glue Pen and Wide Glue Marker. (My favorite is the wide marker.) Each dries strong and clear and can be used as either a permanent or temporary adhesive. If the nibs get dirty, they can be pulled out and rinsed or even reversed for a fresh nib. Super cool.  🙂

I’ll be using other elements from this super-cute stamp/die set very soon.  🙂

Thanks so much for visiting today!

Ellie loves phant (stamping bella) and New Copic Classes

Hi everyone! Time for another challenge with Stamping Bella! This week we’re using the {Mojo}Bella sketch found at the bottom of this post. I used Ellie Loves Phant from The Stuffies Collection.

Michele Boyer - Stamping Bella

I love their intertwined snouts. And the ear hug.  🙂

After stamping and coloring with Copics, I stamped the hearts onto a scrap of the dotted pink paper, cut out each and adhered. The sentiment was stamped in white and then white embossed.

New 2017 Copic Classes are now open for registration at CHA in Phoenix in January. In addition to Standard and Intermediate Certification and Flowers classes, three new workshops have been added to the schedule: Coloring Animals, Coloring Landscapes, and trendy Hand Lettering. I think they all sound amazing!

Thanks so much for visiting today!  🙂

Happy Thanksgiving (taylored expressions)

Hi everyone! I don’t know about you, but I’m (more than) ready for Fall…cool days, colorful leaves, hockey!  🙂  But in the meantime, we’ll just have to deal with these 90+ degree days. (Yuck.)

Today I’m sharing a card using new Bushel of Blessings stamp set now available from Taylored Expressions. I love the dainty tendrils coming from the pumpkin stems.  You can see all products from the latest release HERE.

After stamping my pumpkins onto X-Press It Blending Card, I colored with Copic markers, sprinkled a few new Harvest Sequins and mounted over new Playful Patterns-Harvest patterned paper.

Some Things Are Just Not Meant to Be (stamping bella)

Hi everyone! TGIF! Have you enjoyed this last week of Stamping Bella‘s holiday release previews?  There are a few more to see, then they will all be available tomorrow (right here)!  Eeee!  🙂

So it’s time for another challenge with Stamping Bella, AND it’s time for a new Stamp of the Month. This month’s image (and sentiment) is Peaches, 20% off through September 30. The challenge this week was to use stitching in some form so together with Peaches, I did a bit of faux stitching. I had to go “old school” and poke holes/draw stitches because I forgot to add the stitching and didn’t use a die with faux stitching… and I couldn’t get the papers apart. (It has been a long day. I will blame it on teaching my child to drive. It is exhausting. And frightening.)

I paired Peaches with bright pink papers from Doodlebug’s Hello Sunshine 6×6 paper pad. She was stamped onto X-Press It Blending Card and colored with Copic markers.

Shadows-and-Shading: A Beginners Guide to Lighting Placement

To help with my shading and contrast, I often refer to Shadows & Shading, A Beginners Guide to Lighting Placement by Marianne Walker available from Imagination International.  Years ago I assisted Marianne with a Copic Certification class and I remember quite a few students showing Marianne their work and asking what they could do to improve it. Her answer many times was, “Add more contrast.” In her book, Marianne clearly and simply explains contrast, light and shadow basics, light sources, shading basic and complex objects, and she discusses the color of shadows. If you are at all interested in learning more about shadows and shading, I highly recommend this book. (I’ve read it many times.) Included in the back are four clear lighting placement guides which help in determining postition of shadows and shading depending on your type of light source. (Marianne explains how to use them.) I cannot stress enough how excellent a resource this book is.

Taylored Expressions Sept. Release – Bold Balloons

Hi everyone!  It’s Release Day with Taylored Expressions!  You can find all of the new products now available for sale right HERE! I’m so excited for TE as it celebrates its 8th birthday this month. I wish for many, many, MANY more!  🙂

Today I’ve used new Bold Balloons with coordinating dies as well as new Pink Champagne and Mint Julep dye inks.

Michele Boyer - Taylored Expressions

I first used my MISTI and Oreo ink to stamp and align the balloon strings. Balloons were stamped in Pink Champagne, Mint Julep, Lollipop and Salt Water Taffy, all of which coordinate with Hello Happiness 6×6 patterned papers.  I die-cut each then attached over the strings. I stamped the “wish big” string, omitting the bow, and attached some shimmery sequins.

I just love how she’s plopped atop that big ol’ pumpkin.  I like her curly hair too. And the flower. She’s stamped onto X-Press It Blending Card and colored with Copic markers.
