Happy Birthday, Dad

It’s time for another sketch with My Favorite Things!  I decided to take advantage of this week’s challenge to create a birthday card for my father-in-law.

I’ve used Big Greetings, First Place Award Ribbon (for the “dad”), Circle STAX, Fishtail Flag STAX and Stacking Stars Die-namics.

I needed the card to be fairly flat and easily “mail-able” so I didn’t use any doo-dads.  I only popped up the one star.

I finished the inside using another sentiment from the set, a leftover strip from the front patterned paper and the third star from Stacking Stars.  (The die cuts three at a time.)  DONE!  🙂

You can find direct links to DT samples HERE on the MFT blog.  The info is also posted in the MFT Forum in SCS.  (Look for the most recent WSC thread numbered 70.)   And remember, if you upload your card to the SCS gallery using the keyword shown on the sketch, you will have the chance to win up to $20 in MFT money!  One winner is chosen at random each week.

Thanks for visiting!  Have a great day!  🙂

MFT New Product Tour – Hi

Hi everyone!  Welcome to the My Favorite Things May New Product Tour! You can find direct links to all posts on Kim’s blog HERE.  Don’t forget to leave comments as you peek!  Blog candy has been hidden somewhere along the way!

Today I’ve used Freckles and our new Pure Innocence All Occasion Sentiments. I stamped, colored and pieced the girl onto an oval die-cut from Oval STAX.  I then promptly dropped my black ink pad onto the side of the oval, leaving a big ol’ black mark beside the girl.  Soooo… I cut her out, cut another oval, redrew the grass, added the shading and plopped my girl onto the NEW, CLEAN oval.  :/

The simple “hi” was stamped onto a Fishtail Flag strip.  (I added the dots.)

If you look very closely, you can see that I also die-cut the left edge of the floral panel using our new Mini Scallop Edge Die-namics.

Once my girl was “reassembled,” I used a black Copic Multi-liner to add the dashed line around the border of the oval.

On the inside, I pieced together two additional sentiments from the PI All Occasion set.  It’s so nice to have commonly used PI sentiments all in one place.  I was doing a lot of digging, looking for specific phrases.  Now I don’t have to.  🙂

All of our new products are available right now, right HERE in the MFT Boutique.  Please refer back to Kim’s blog for direct links to more samples using this month’s releases.

Thanks for visiting!  Have a great evening!

My card today features Moka Bobby (as in Bobby Flay), illustrated by Nancy McKinney for the Whimsical Wishes collection at Taylored Expressions.

When I saw Moka Bobby, I knew I had to have him.  He’s so cute!  And we’re big “grillers” here, rain, shine, snow… it doesn’t matter.  🙂

After stamping and coloring Bobby with Copics, I die-cut the circles using Spellbinders Nestabilities (Large Classic Circles), added some stitching and “flagged” my sentiment.  I thought about paper-piecing Bobby’s apron but decided to complete the sentiment there instead.  Afterall, you can grill “any time.”  🙂

I used Train Track Border to create a “fence” along the bottom and papers are once again from this month’s Project Pantry Kit.

Be sure to check out what the Baker’s Dozen have created today!

Thanks so much for visiting!  Have a great day!
