M is for Masking and MFT with 2Peas

Have you checked out the stamping event that’s been going on at 2Peas?  They are showcasing different stamping techniques and companies corresponding with each letter of the alphabet.  They’re up to ‘M’, and I was asked to create a sample using masking.  (Eeeee!)  You can find their post HERE with additional photos and instructions on how I masked my Pure Innocence girl over the stamp image.  Be sure to scroll to the end of their post for info on a special challenge and the chance to win a GREAT prize! 🙂

On my card I’ve used Popping By (Pure Innocence), Just the Ticket Stamp and Die-namics set, Mini Film Strip and Retro Rolled Flower Die-namics, all available from My Favorite Things as well as 2Peas.

I die-cut the flower from My Favorite Black Felt then placed a red candy dot in the center.

On the inside, I stamped the girl and “hi” again, and used another mini film strip.

Head on over to 2Peas to check out today’s post …and A through L as well!

Thanks for visiting!  Have a great day!  🙂

KKS October Moonlight Whispers Previews

It’s also challenge day.  Pam has created a fab sketch which you can find here on the Krafty Blog.  The focal panel can be as wide as needed so it’s perfect for KKS images!   If you’d like to play along, be sure to post a link to your creation there on the Krafty Blog for your chance to win a free Julie image (as used by Pam today).

Meet Winnie.  This was the perfect image for me yesterday.  My son had a mountain of homework, my daughter had a Girl Scout meeting after school then book club at the library, then in the rush to make dinner in between, the grill caught on fire…sigh.  But today is a new day.  🙂

I decided to pair cute Winnie with Echo Park’s retro Happy Day paper.   I like it.  🙂

More samples of the new Moonlight Whispers images (using this week’s sketch) can be found HERE.    I hope to see you back tomorrow (Sunday, October 23rd, 1 a.m. EST) for KKS’s October Release Hop!

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great day!  🙂

Frosty Winter Friends

Hi everyone!  It’s time to begin previews for Kraftin Kimmie’s October 23rd release!   You can find a list of participating DT HERE on the Krafty Blog.

Today the team is sharing samples of Cheryl Alger’s new images — three super-cute snowmen!  🙂  Be sure to leave comments as you look!  One lucky winner will receive all three of Cheryl’s new images!

Today I’m using Frosty Winter Friends which, of course, comes with the sentiment I’ve used here.

I first had six mini brads in place of the snowman’s buttons, but after adhering the “wood” button with my jute string, I heard this little voice in the back of my head whispering “don’t mix wood and metal…don’t mix wood and metal.”  (I know who the voice was, do you?  Hee, hee.)   So anyway, I removed the brads, colored a piece of white string with a brown Copic and stitched in some quick french knots.  Then I was much happier.  And the whisper quieted.  😉
To see more samples of Cheryl’s adorable snowmen, check out the Krafty Blog here.

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great day!

p.s.  Only two more days to sign up for my give-away.  Info HERE.  🙂

It’s time for a sketch with My Favorite Things!   This week I pulled out another of my uninked Pure Innocence sets, Astronaut Girl (which I think could also work for a boy).

I paired my little astronaut with Cosmo Cricket’s Rocket Age paper.  Perfect!

If you look closely, you’ll see that I placed a clear pebble sticker over the helmet.  It’s just a wee bit smaller than the helmet but I think it works perfectly.  As long as I didn’t have to mess with clear glue, I was happy.  🙂

You may also notice that I have a new obsession with Tim Holtz’s mini stapler. I LOVE that thing.  I just need to keep it away from my daughter… the staples are not cheap.

On the inside I stamped another sentiment, part of a silhouette and added a few more staples.

You can find direct links to DT samples HERE on the MFT blog.  The info is also posted in the MFT Forum in SCS.  (Look for the most recent WSC thread numbered 42.)   And remember, if you upload your card to the SCS gallery using the keyword shown on the sketch, you will have the chance to win up to $20 in MFT money!  One winner is chosen at random each week.

Thanks for visiting!  Have a great day!

Stamps:  My Favorite Things “Astronaut Girl” (Pure Innocence)  Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black   Paper: Papertrey Ink Enchanted Evening, X-Press It Blending Card, October Afternoon “Rocket Age” (8×8)   Accessories:  Copic markers (E000, E00, E11, R20, B93, B95, Y21, YR23, E35, R05, R27, R59, E0000, W00), MFT File Tab Die-namics, Tim Holtz mini stapler, clear pebble sticker.  Finished size 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″.

MFT VIP New Product Tour

Hi everyone!  It’s VIP time with My Favorite Things!  This month’s Who’s That Girl is getting warm and cozy with cocoa!   The following items are available HERE for $29.90:

  • Who’s that Girl Gets Cozy with Cocoa stamp set
  • Cozy with Cocoa Sentiments mini (VIP exclusive stamp set – will never be offered for sale or be available again $9 value, FREE)
  • Loopy BloomDie-namics Die

As always, the VIP package is available in limited quantities, while supplies last, and gives you the opportunity to have the new set and Die-namics die in hand two weeks before the actual release!

I thought it might be fun to have two friends on my card front instead of just one.

I pieced the scarves and the one mug, then colored the rest with Copics.

And check out this new rolled Loopy Bloom!  I *love* it!  I die-cut one piece from Chocolate Fudge felt, adhered a strip of double-sided sticky tape along one long side then folded the piece in half.  Then rolled, securing the end with a glue dot!  So fun!

On the inside, I placed a pieced/colored mug and added just a bit of shadow.November VIP Collection Who's that Girl Gets Cozy with Cocoa

As many of you know, it’s Krafty Day with Kraftin Kimmie Stamps.  Those who are able to attend will have a super-fun day of crafting and cropping and will receive a KKS goodie bag full of stamping goodness, including a special stamp created just for Krafty Day.  But since we all can’t be there, Kimmie has a special treat for her long distance fans.  Beginning today (through Friday, October 21st), every order over $75 before shipping and taxes will receive this commemorative stamp for free!

This year’s stamp is called Best Friends and comes with the sentiment I’ve used here.  (The sentiment is actually positioned in two lines, but with the help of my handy dandy Stamp-a-ma-Jig, I split it to fit my design.)

Best Friends was created by Annie Rodrigue, twisty artist extraordinaire.  She’s there at Krafty Day and I can’t begin to tell you how sad I am, not being able to meet her in person.  Maybe some day…

To see more samples using the new Best Friends image, check out the Krafty Blog HERE.

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great day!  🙂

Kraftin Kimmie Stamps, Challenge 100!

It’s time to celebrate with Kraftin’ Kimmie Stamps!  Today is our 100th Challenge, AND it’s our birthday!  This month KKStamps turns TWO, and we’re doing something special to mark the occasion!

Have you ever wanted to be a Krafty Girl?? Here’s your chance!  Our challenge this week is to use your favorite KKStamp! That’s it…nothing fancy.  Just make a card or project featuring one of your favorite KKStamps and share it on the KKStamps blog. Link it with the little blue froggie and leave a message in the comment section telling us you’re applying to be our next Guest Designer.  The winner will receive a package of new release stamps and join us for the challenges and krafty peeks for the month of December! You have until October 31st to apply.  (You can still play along with the challenge if you’re not applying to be a Krafty Girl and we’ll still have our regular weekly winner.)

Drucilla has to be my absolute favorite of KKS images.  I just love her.  Although my daughter thinks Drucilla is really cute, she says the “needles” “freak her out.”   I kind of like them.  Smiley from millan.net

For the pinheads, I inserted tiny brads.  I didn’t like all the white space around Drucilla so I dotted in some lines with a brown marker and sponged some VersaMagic Wheat ink.  I also left a lot of the little straggly strings on the trim for a somewhat scrappy feel.  (You could WIN Drucilla…and more…if you enter my give-away HERE!)

You can check out the other Krafty Girls’ favorites HERE and this week’s Frugal Friday Specials HERE

Also, tomorrow is KKStamps’ annual Krafty Day.  Kimmie is doing something special for her online krafty friends who are unable to attend, but you’ll have to come back tomorrow to find out what she has goin’ on.  🙂

Thanks for visiting!

Stamps:  Kraftin Kimmie Stamps “Drucilla” and “Sassy Sentiments”   Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black and VersaMagic Wheat  Paper:  Papertrey Ink Dark Chocolate, X-Press It Blending Card, Simple Stories “Baby Steps” (6×6)  Accessories: Copic markers (E000, E00, E11, R20, E13, E15, E18, Y21, YR23, YG03, YG05, YG17, B000, B0000), My Favorite Things File Tab Die-namics, Webster’s Pages trim, Favorite Findings wood heart button, cream jute string.  Finished size 5 1/4″ x 5 1/4″.

A Pencil and a Dream (and TWO Ways to Win!)

Hi everyone!  It’s been a while since I’ve had a give-away!  I have compiled two bundles of some of my favorite stamping goodies.  Two bundles means two chances to win.

One person will be chosen from my blog readers who comment on this post.  Another will be chosen at random from those who “like” my new “Paper Cuts” Facebook page, found HERE.  (You do not need to comment on the FB page to qualify for the give-away.)  If you’re a FB user and want to continue seeing my posts, you will need to “like” my Paper Cuts page.  No more crafty posts will appear on my personal page (saving my non-stamping friends and family from the bombardment of likely-boring-to-them posts.  And I just feel better keeping the two separate.)  🙂

My first (blog) package includes this adorable à la modes set, Talk Nerdy to Me, from My Favorite Things

Everyone, collectively tilt your heads to the left so you can read the sentiment. lol.

Also in this prize package is the File Tab Die-namics used on my card above, a 6×6 Lost & Found2 Rosy paper pad, and two of my favorite Kraftin Kimmie stamps — Angie and Drucilla.

Again, to win the above package, simply leave a comment on this post.

For my SECOND give-away, simply “like” my Paper Cuts FB page HERE for your chance to win the package below.

My FB page giveaway includes more of my favorite images and products:  a Simple Stories Happy Day 6×6 paper pad, My Favorite Things Feeling Froggy Pure Innocence stamp set and Woodgrain Fence Die-namics, and Kraftin Kimmie Stamps’ Charlotte and The Krafty Stamper

I will choose both winners the evening of Saturday, October 22.  The blog winner will be posted here on my blog, and the FB winner will be posted on my FB page.

Just to clarify, I WILL still be posting here.  But my FB posts will go to my Paper Cuts page, not my personal page.  That’s the only change.

Big thanks to my fellow MFT’r Joanne for her guidance and for coming up with the idea to set up a dedicated page.  🙂

As always, thank you SO much for visiting.  I appreciate it very much!  🙂

I Never Want to be Without You

Hi everyone!  It’s time to get sketchy with My Favorite Things!  This week I’ve used another of my favorite sets from our latest release, Have Hope.

I really like this week’s sketch BUT it has that tilted panel.  So to make myself feel better (hee, hee), I decided to stamp my girl, color/paper-piece, then cut out and attach her over the tilted panel…not tilted.

To piece the dress, I cut out the each piece, ran a black marker around the edges and adhered.  For that tiny triangular area beneath the heart, I simply colored with a blue/green marker.

I used our new Oval Tab Die-namics and placed a strip of the Little Open Scallop Border along the bottom (and on the inside as well).

On the inside, I used one of the journaling prints from Simple Stories’ “Baby Steps” (6×6) paper pad, stamped the silhouette and added the sentiment.

You can find direct links to DT samples HERE on the MFT blog.  The info is also posted in the MFT Forum in SCS.  (Look for the most recent WSC thread numbered 41.)   And remember, if you upload your card to the SCS gallery using the keyword shown on the sketch, you will have the chance to win up to $20 in MFT money!  One winner is chosen at random each week.

Thanks for visiting!  Have a great day!
