Happy Birthday…Penguin Style

**Please press Ctrl-F5 to “hard” refresh if you’d like to make sure you are seeing my latest post.  (Blog issues.)  Thanks!**

Hi everyone.  🙂  Last week’s TCP Tuesday challenge (with The Cat’s Pajamas) is a sketch.  Talk about waiting until the 11th hour.  I’m barely getting this in before the challenge changes tomorrow.  I found the info HERE on Leigh’s blog.  I needed to make a birthday card anyway, and I had already chosen the stamp set so the sketch made things just a bit easier for me.  (Actually a lot easier.)

Happy Birthday

This card is going to someone who lives in the southwest so I chose to use TCP’s Hola Tequila.  I haven’t finished the inside yet, but there will be a margarita and a cactus in there.   🙂   The birthday sentiment is from TCP’s Birthday Bunny.

I kept the colors nice and bright (and festive) and used the three strips from the sketch to create a Mexican blanket of sorts.  I’ve never seen one in these colors but that’s ok, right?

I’ll be back soon with MFT’s Wednesday Stamp Club sketch as well as Day 1 of February previews with Kraftin Kimmie.  Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Stamps:  The Cat’s Pajamas “Hola Tequila” and “Birthday Bunny”   Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black  Paper:  Stampin’ Up Old Olive, Papertrey Ink Vintage Cream and Black, My Mind’s Eye Quite Contrary Mary Mary “Sweetie Pie” and “Best of Friends”   Accessories: Copic markers, various twill,  Michaels mini brads, black jute string, Spellbinders Nestabilities, dimensional boosters.  Finished size 4 3/4″ x 4  3/4″.

Love You to My Core

Hi everyone.  I have another card to share today using the new Falling For You set from Paper Smooches.

Love You to My Core

Love this apple with it’s little heart seeds.  And the hearts in the sentiment…too cute.  🙂

I stamped the row of apples, beginning with the one on the right.  A post-it-note made for a quick and easy mask, then I stamped the apple again onto dotted paper, using a kraft knife to remove the inner section.

It’s so nice to make a quick card.   And like it.  🙂

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you’re having a great weekend!

Stamps:  Paper Smooches “Falling for You”   Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black and Rich Cocoa   Paper:  Papertrey Ink Vintage Cream (base), Bazzill, October Afternoon Campfire (8×8)   Accessories:   Webster’s Pages trim, cream jute string, button, R59 Copic.   Finished size 4 1/2″ x 4 1/2″.

Seeing Red

**Please press Ctrl-F5 to “hard” refresh if you’d like to make sure you are seeing my latest post.  (Blog issues.)  Thanks!**

Hi everyone.  🙂   It’s Krafty Saturday which means it’s time for a challenge with Kraftin Kimmie.  Remember that the contest for our April Guest Designer begins with this week’s challenge.  You can find all the details HERE on the Krafty Blog.

This week Tracy has challenged us with using red.  Eek!  You know my fear of red.  I think my problem is that I just don’t have many red markers.  And, of course, I need a range of cool red, warm red, plain ol’ red…. Must go shopping soon!  hee, hee.

Aw Nuts!

For my card today, I used Andrea Acorn from Kimmie’s latest release.    I used part of her coordinating sentiment on the front…

…and the remainder on the inside.  Down in the corner, I stamped the little acorn which comes along with the image and sentiment.

On the acorn leaves, I added a bit of sparkle using a Buttermilk Spica glitter pen (my favorite).  I used it on the leaves on the front as well but was unable to get a photo of those.

To see more samples of this week’s challenge, head on over to the Krafty Blog.  And if you decide to play along this week, be sure to post a link to your creation (on the Krafty Blog) for your chance to win a free stamp from Kraftin Kimmie!

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Stamps:  Kraftin Kimmie “Andrea Acorn” (Moonlight Whispers)   Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black   Paper:  Bazzill, Papertrey Ink White, October Afternoon Campfire (8×8)    Accessories:   Copic markers (E000, E00, R20, E17, E18, E31, E33, E35, Y21, YR23, YR24, R12, R14, R24, R17, R89, YG93, YG95, B0000, W00, W1), Prismacolor pencils, Melissa Frances trim, brown jute string, button.    Finished size 5″ x 5″.

Paper Smooches Co-Hop

**Please press Ctrl-F5 to “hard” refresh if you’d like to make sure you are seeing my latest post.  (Blog issues.)  Thanks!**

Hi everyone!  I’m so excited today to be helping my friend, Kim Hughes, kick off her new business!  If you know me (at all), you know that I adored Kim’s images when she designed for Cornish Heritage Farms.   In case you haven’t heard, she is back to illustrating and has started her very own stamp company, Paper Smooches.  (When she told me, I literally squealed with delight.)

On the first day of each month, Kim will release three new whimsical and fun clear stamp sets hand drawn by Kim herself.    She asked me to create a card using one of her February sets.  I chose Falling for You.

Love Monster

Oh, how I’ve missed Kim’s style, her sweet fonts.  **happy sigh**

After assembling my card, I decided to add a little extra pizzazz by stamping the monster a second time and popping him up on foam boosters.  Before adhering, I gave him a little heart brad so he’s just full of love.

Kim offers high quality photopolymer clear stamps, shaped card templates, a design center and so much more.  There will be a monthly challenge on the The Paper Smooches Blog  (where free digi-stamps will be involved).  Participants will be eligible to be a guest designer for the following month.

Here is a list of some of Kim’s friends who are also playing with some Paper Smooches stamps today:

Please help us welcome Paper Smooches Stamps!   I’m so excited, I could do cartwheels… but then we’d have to call the paramedics and this day would end on bad note instead of a super-excited mega-happy one.  So I’ll just smile (really big).

Today we’re previewing My How You’ve Grown (WTG) and Clearly Sentimental about Parenting.

Always Watching You

My card uses Clearly Sentimental about Parenting.  The layout (and style) was inspired by one of Melissa Phillips’ masterpieces.  (Her work is so elegant, so beautiful.)   I decided to (attempt) a vintage/elegant style… with a somewhat scary quote.

Yes, you are always being watched.  Isn’t that comforting?  lol.   And not only are our children always watching us, but they’re always watching everyone else as well.  We have had battles about licking dinner plates, burping, leaving clothes all over the floor (no matter the room), the use of certain words and phrases…  (I’m not mentioning names to protect the guilty. The guilty visit my blog.  lol.)  We could all add to that list and never stop.  Parenting is a tough job (but so worth it).

The flowers I used here came from Michaels.  There were six in a pack (four in this print, two in another), all the same size.  I wanted a smaller flower on each side of the bigger one so I cut one of the flowers in half then rounded  down the shape to resemble a smaller blossom.  The cut side is tucked under the larger flower so noone will ever know.  (Well, now everyone knows because I just told the world-lol).  I also replaced the center pearls with buttons.

The flourish was split to make room for the flowers, and all paper edges were sponged with distress ink.

As I mentioned earlier, the release is tonight at 10 p.m. EST, as is our Release Hop and Shop.  Before the release and hop from 8-10 p.m. EST is the Release Party in the MFT Member Forum at SCS.  We hope you’ll stop by!

Thanks so much for visiting!  I’ll see you tonight!
