Wrapped in Love

**Until my blog issues are resolved, please press Ctl-F5 to “hard” refresh if you’d like to make sure you are seeing my latest post.  Thanks!**

Hello.  🙂  I decided to take a break from sitting on the couch (with my sick boy) to play along with Stamping Bella‘s sketch this week.

Wrapped in Love

I’ve had Wrapped in Love for quite a while and just now got around to using it.   She’s so sweet, wrapped in her heart strings.  🙂

I colored her with Copics then added a bit of ground with pencils.

Tip:  After attaching a button with lighter string over darker ribbon, use a matching Copic marker to color the string beneath the button.  No more stark white (or cream) string standing out against the darker ribbon.  🙂

I’ll be back tomorrow with MFT’s Weekly Sketch Challenge and then on Thursday, January Krafty Peeks begin with Kraftin Kimmie!

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Stamps:  Stamping Bella “Wrapped in Love”  Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black   Paper:  Papertrey Ink Dark Chocolate, White; Basic Grey Hopscotch (6×6)    Accessories:   Copic markers (E000, E00, E11, E33, E35, E57, Y21, R12, R14, R20, BG0000, BG01, YR0000), Prismacolor pencils, Spellbinders Nestabilities, ribbon, button/string.    Finished size 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″.

Getting Flowery with Flourishes

**Until my blog issues are resolved, please press Ctl-F5 to “hard” refresh if you’d like to make sure you are seeing my latest post.  Thanks!**

Hi everyone.  Happy weekend (or what’s left of it).  I’ve done nothing today but sit on the couch with a sick boy.  I guess we’re still deciding just how sick, but he has a sore throat and has been on the couch literally all day.  I hope he’s better tomorrow.  🙁

Last month I won this really pretty Flourishes set, Butterflies & Blossoms, from Danielle‘s blog.  Thank you again, Danielle!! 🙂  It’s been sooo long since I’ve gotten flowery like this, but once I got going, it all came together.

To My Wonderful Friend

I have issues with the bow but besides that, I’m happy with how this turned out.  (I may HAVE to change that bow before this goes anywhere…maybe it needs more loops. I don’t know…it needs something…)   I decided to add more loops to my bow.  Erin, you were right!  Thanks!  NOW, I like the whole card!  🙂

I colored with Copics, using wispy strokes and gray for shading.

I stamped and colored the butterfly twice, bent up the wings on each side of the body on the cut-out piece and glued over the first image.

Along the bottom, I used my Faux Crochet Die-namics die by My Favorite Things.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  I’ll be back soon!

Stamps:  Flourishes “Butterlies & Blossoms”  Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black   Paper:  Papertrey Ink Dark Chocolate, Vintage Cream; Basic Grey Capella (6×6)    Accessories:   Copic markers (R00, W00, W1, YG91, YG93, YG95, E43, E47, BG0000), MFT Faux Crochet Trim Die-namics, ribbon, button/string, sewing machine.    Finished size 5″ x 5″.

Unwinding with Kraftin Kimmie

Hi everyone!  We’re getting back into the swing of things with Kraftin KimmieWe’ve taken the last couple weeks off from challenges but it’s time to get back to it.

So how are we UNwinding if we’re getting back TO the challenges?  I’m your hostess this week and I am challenging everyone to create a card using no ribbon, no trim, no lace or string of any kind.  No wrapping.  No winding.  We’re UN-winding.

You can find all the details on the Krafty Blog HERE.   Should you decide to play along, be sure to post a link to your creation on the Krafty Blog for your chance to win the stamp I’ve used below.  🙂

Let’s Get Krafty!

Since this image is a little bigger than most, I kept my layout pretty simple.  And I used my new Basic Grey Hopscotch paper.  I wish I had ten sheets of that brown floral.  ♥ ♥ ♥

In place of string or cord in my button, I cut a very thin strip of the dark brown cardstock, threaded and adhered using a glue dot.

(And look!  My text wrap is finally working! YAY!)

Be sure to check out the other girls’ Krafty creations HERE.  I hope you’ll play!

Oh, and Krafty Peeks start on Thursday!  They’re very sweet!  🙂

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a great day!

MFT is Getting Sketchy!

**Please press Ctl-F5 to “hard” refresh if you’d like to make sure you are seeing my latest post.  Thanks!**

MFT is super excited to announce that Wednesday Stamp Club will now be centered around a weekly sketch.  If you’re like me, sketches are major time-savers.  I can color my image, choose the papers and embellishments, and then spend two days trying to decide what to do with everything.  I LOVE sketches.

A new sketch will be posted each Wednesday at midnight on the MFT blog.  You’ll also find the sketch in the MFT forum on SCS on Wednesday morning, as well as in the weekly newsletter.  Our talented Challenge and Design Teams will be on hand to provide plenty of inspiration to get you started.

We encourage you all to play along, and to enter your card in the weekly draw for a $15 gift voucher to the MFT Boutique.  Simply follow the sketch and create a card or other paper creation.  You may use any stamps and supplies that you wish.  Each week, a keyword is assigned to the sketch.  To enter, simply upload your card to the gallery at SCS and include the given keyword in the “keyword” box during the upload process.  After the deadline, we randomly choose a winner from that week’s entries and the winner will receive a $15 gift voucher.  If the winning card uses MFT stamps, the participant will earn a $5 bonus, for a total of a $20 gift voucher!  That is up to $100 per month in prizes, JUST for playing along.  We hope you’ll join us in 2011.

Thinking of You

For this week’s sketch, I used one of our new Pure Innocence releases, Thinking of You.  Along the top I placed two die-cut strips of striped paper, cut using MFT’s Jumbo Scallop Die-namics.   I layered and stitched a strip of red patterned paper then tied the twill.  …It’s like aJoannecard.  (I always love her bows.)

I colored with markers and paper-pieced her little dress and jacket.  (You wouldn’t believe the small pieces I used for that. Luckily I had saved them because my papers from Cosmo’s Togetherness paper pad are seriously dwindling.)

On the inside, I used a second sentiment from the set and stamped the girl using Memento Desert Sand.

You can find a complete list of sketch details and MFT participants HERE on Kim’s blog.  I hope you’ll play along!

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a great day!

MFT January Release Blog Hop & Shop

**Please press Ctl-F5 to “hard” refresh if you’d like to make sure you are seeing my latest post.  Thanks!**

Welcome to the My Favorite Things’ January Blog Hop & Shop!  If you’ve just popped in here, you may want to go back to the beginning with Kim.  If you’ve just come from Susan, then you’re right on track.  🙂

This month we have twelve new stamp sets and six new Die-namics dies.  And they’re all available right now!  But first, I hope you’ll continue on with the hop.  You never know…you might find one more thing you MUST add to that order!  🙂

Peek-a-Boo

I’ve used one of the adorable new Pure Innocence sets, Peek-a-Boo.

Her dress is pieced with two tiny brads added for buttons.

The red die-cut “trims” were created using MFT’s new Dainty Lace Border Die-namics.

On the inside, I stamped a second sentiment from the set, and the girl in the corner from Flower Girl.   It’s a bit of a “pattern-palooza” but I didn’t want to leave the sides blank…or just the top.  It looked funny to me.

To create a gatefold card, simply cut your cardstock to 10″ x 5 1/4″.  Score and fold 2 1/2″ in from each side and you will have a 5″ x 5 1/4″ folded card.  I used the “Peek-a-Boo” sentiment piece to help hold the card closed.

Your next stop along the hop is with JODY.  There’s no telling what she has for you, but whatever it is, you can count on it being FABULOUS!

Thanks SO much for stopping by!  Happy hopping… and shopping!  🙂

Stamps:  My Favorite Things “Peek-a-Boo” and “Flower Girl” (Pure Innocence)  Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black   Paper:  Stampin Up Real Red, MFT cream Perfect Paper Panel, October Afternoon Modern Homemaker (8×8)    Accessories:   Copic markers (E000, E00, E11, R17, R29, Y21, W00, W1, BG0000), Prismacolor pencils, MFT Dainty Lace Border Die-namics, Michaels and Stampin Up brads, McGill mini-flower punch.   Finished size 5″  x 5 1/4″ (closed).

Five…More…Minutes

The sentiment in its entirety reads “Five More Minutes and I Can Have That Cookie.”  But if this were me, I’d be thinking, “Five more minutes…

…Five …More …Minutes” (among other things, likely a prayer that I don’t drop dead before the five minutes is up).

Kelli’s fun and fabulous card HERE inspired me to use my Banner Day Die-Namics.  On the card front, I also used the Small Scallop Border along the bottom.

The bakers twine was a gift from my dear friend, Jody.  (Thanks, Jody.)  🙂

Today we’re previewing Frosty Fun and Inspired by Music.

Gliding By…

Today I’ve used Frosty Fun.  At least she looks like she’s having fun.  I am not a skater.  I’m an observer.  I much prefer to stand on the side and shiver.

I paper-pieced the outfit, drew in the little swish at her feet and added some tiny shoe laces (white string colored with a Copic).

The snowflakes were die-cut using MFT’s Snowflake Trio Die-namics.  I used the same “dyed” string in the buttons as I used for the laces.

I stamped the girl on the inside using VersaMagic Spring Pansy ink and added more zig-zag stitching.

Today we’re previewing FIVE new Pure Innocence sets… Because You’re Special, Ladybug, World’s Best Doctor, Peek-a-B00, and Carnation (a new monthly PI image featuring the flower of the month, great for calendars)!

Hope I’m Not Bugging You

This is Ladybug.  Isn’t she sweet?   I wanted to deviate just a bit from the standard red/black ladybug so I chose papers with a different “darker” color.

Along the bottom I used MFT’s Flower Border Die-namics die, adding a yellow-ish Dew Drop to the center of each flower.

After coloring, I added just a bit of sparkle to her wings using a Buttermilk Spica glitter pen.

On the inside I stamped the ladybug peeking out from the corner and used the remaining three flowers from the border, centered along the bottom.

Today we’re previewing Clearly Sentimental about Love and Flapper Doodles I Love Us.

I Love Us

I chose I Love Us from the Flapper Doodles line.  I don’t know why, but when I first saw this image, I cracked up.  I can’t explain it…sometimes things just hit me funny.  Hee, hee.

Along the bottom of my card, I used our new Dainty Doily Border Die-namics die.

After coloring with markers, I stamped little hearts across the top of my image panel, then added stitching as if the hearts were hanging.

I stamped the second sentiment on the inside and added the “hanging” hearts here as well.
