A Kraftin Kimmie Challenge

Hi everyone! Time for another challenge with Kraftin Kimmie!  This week Vicki is our Hostess Extraordinaire and she is challenging us to make a birthday card for a boy.  That usually is a challenge for me, but luckily Kimmie has these really cute pirate stamps…  🙂

It’s Yarr Birthday

      KKIYBD
This is Billy Blyth.  I colored him with markers and added the ground with pencils.  I tried to make his pants look kind of dirty because, well, I’ve never seen a clean pirate.

IYBDCU2I added some stitching and then placed the three brad-ish stickers in the lower right corner.  I love those because after I’ve glued everything together, I sometimes decide I need to add something in a corner and I just canNOT bring myself to have brad prongs (or anything else) on the inside of my card.  (Just one of my own crazy rules.)

Be sure to check out the Krafty blog for more design team samples for this challenge. If you’d like to play along, don’t forget to post a link there to your creation so that you’ll have a chance to win a free stamp from Kraftin Kimmie (the cute Miles stamp Vicki used)!

Oh, and the August previews begin Thursday!  Yipee!!  🙂

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great day!

CHF — It’s REALLY Gotta Go

Hi all.  🙂

I still have a bit of my Cornish Heritage Farms stamps left and as much as I’d like to keep some of these, I just can’t.  I had previously marked each set at or below 50% of their retail value.  I’m grouping the different lines together and marking what’s left of each LINE (as a group) at an additional 50% off of my original asking price.

First come, first served!  Please leave a comment here on this post telling me which GROUP of stamps you’re interested in (so that it’s clear who is actually first in line), then send me an email indicating your interest.  Also, please send your zip code so I can let you know what the postage will be.  (Purchaser responsible for shipping.)

Please give them a good home.  🙂

MFT’s August Blog Hop & Shop

Hi everyone!  Welcome to this month’s release hop with My Favorite Things!  If you’ve just popped in here, you might want to go back to the beginning with Kim.  If you’ve just come from Sherrie, then you’re right on track.

We have lots of fun new sets available tonight as well as four new Die-namics dies, four new templates, a digi-paper pack and new colors of felt!  Whew!  Lots of fun stuff.   🙂

Sometimes You Pick Your Friends…

   MFTSYP

Here I’ve used one of the three new Pure Innocence sets, Bunches of Flowers.  I paper-pieced the girl’s dress, added grass/ground with Prismacolor pencils and popped up the butterfly’s wings.   Oh, and I drew in the little socks.

I split the first line of the sentiment into three lines and clear-embossed over the ink to help the words stand out better on the patterned paper.

Along the top and bottom of the sentiment panel, I used our new Small Scallop Die-namics border die, placing a double layer along the bottom.

          MFTSSDLrg

As tempting as it was to change the remainder of the sentiment , I behaved and kept things nice and sweet.  (**adjusting halo**)

    MFTSYPIN

All of the new sets and products are available right here, right now, but FIRST, please continue on with the hop to see what sweetness CINDY has for you.

Thanks SO much for stopping by!  Happy hopping and shopping!  🙂

MFT Teasers, Day 5

It’s the last day of teasers with My Favorite Things!  I hope you’ve been leaving comments along the way as two new sets will be given away today!  You can find direct links to more samples HERE on Kim’s blog after 11 a.m. EST.

Today we’re previewing (or reviewing) Who’s That Harvest Girl, Garden Goodness and Clearly Sentimental about Harvest.    My harvest girl’s children had sleepovers (as in ‘more than one’) at her house last night.  So when she went to the market, she had more than fruit on her mind (which you can’t see because this morning she lost her head).

Hand Picked

           MFTHP390

I decided to keep the layout simple since there was a bit of work in the image.

I stamped the image onto an MFT cream Perfect Paper Panel then masked in the wine bottle from MFT’s Time for Bubbly (currently out of MFTHPCU2stock).  Next I masked the strawberries then paper-pieced the shirt and basket.  I omitted the line at the bottom of the basket (as I did here) because I like that corner extending past the border.  After stamping the basket portion onto the “patterned” paper (which I ended up covering with marker), I drew in that bottom corner and then cut around it.

Along the bottom of my card, I used one of my favorite of MFT’s Die-namics die-cuts, Jumbo Scallops.

                       MFTJS250

After coloring the strawberries, I used a clear glaze pen to add lots of shine and a bit of dimension.

            MFTHPGIN

On the inside of my card, I added a bit to the sentiment.  The top line is from Garden Goodness and the second line was computer generated.

MFT Teasers, Day 4

Back again.  🙂  Today the My Favorite Things design team is previewing the new Jolinne set, Sprinkles on Top, along with a brand new line called Flapper Doodles.   Since Jolinne is close to my heart, I chose to preview her.

All The Cupcakes You Can Hold

   MFTATC2

First let me say that I hope I don’t burn any of your eye parts with this photo. I could not get the “blush red” to photograph to true color.  It’s honestly not this bright.

MFTATCCUI stamped Jolinne onto an MFT cream Perfect Paper Panel, colored with markers and then added some sparkle with glitter pens… Blush on her shoes and hair bows, Buttermilk on the icing and Mint on the cupcake liner.

In place of the “stamped” sprinkles, I added some mini brads.

On the inside, I used the second sentiment that comes with the set and “sprinkled” a few more mini brads around the edges.

You Make My World Happy

  MFTYMMWH

I’ve used Being Cute is What I Do.  I paper-pieced the little girl’s outfit, including the tiny flower on her shirt.

                      MFTYMWHCU2

To add a bit of dimension, I placed a small pop dot beneath the bottom edge of her shirt.

    DF2      MFTDRF      MFTFLT

(Click on the thumbnails above to see in a larger format.)

To create the flower, I used MFT’s Rolled Flower Die-namics and a scrap of denim.  To be certain the die cut all the way through the fabric, I rolled it through my Cuttlebug several times.   To create the leaves, I used MFT’s new Leaf Trio (which comes along with the new flower die and the new tree die to be release 8/4).

            MFTWHIN

On the inside I used a second sentiment from the set and stamped part of the girl, a little tilted, in the corner.

MFT Teasers, Day 2

The My Favorite Things design team is back today to preview three new sets, Fred Bear Goes Camping, Emma With Her Backpack and Wyatt and His Wagon.  As I mentioned yesterday, we have teaser prizes this month so be sure to leave comments as you visit each blog.  You can find the complete list of participating DT members HERE after 11 a.m. EST.  Today there is an Emma set hidden along the way as well as a Wyatt set!  🙂  Fun, right?  Two free sets!

Happy Camper

    MFTHC

I just love Fred Bear.  He’s so cute…and fun to color.  I pulled out my Mr. Campy paper by Cosmo Cricket, a little on the “older” side, but perfect nonetheless.
              MFTHCCU

The tree was die-cut using a new Die-namics Tree and Leaf Trio set (which works perfectly with our Sheltering Tree set).  If you look closely, you can see that the bark is embossed into the die-cut.  I only ran the die through my Cuttlebug once and still achieved that degree of embossing.  That’s a plus in my book!   As a little extra, I used two of the smaller leaves to create the knotted end of a “bandanna” tied around Fred’s neck.

I also used the new Small Scallops border along the bottom of my card front.

                   MFTTD          MFTSSD

(Click on the thumbnail for a bigger pic.)

On the inside, I lightly stamped a silhouette of the image and repeatedly stamped part of the sentiment, leaving a bit of space for a note.
