Star light, Star Bright

Hi everyone!  Time for the Saturday challenge with Kraftin Kimmie!  This week our very sweet Krafty Girl Diana has challenged us to brighten our cards with stars!  If you’d like to play along, be sure to post a link to your creation on the Krafty Blog for your chance to win a free stamp from Kimmie!

If the Broom Fits…

I used Witchypoo from Kimmie’s fabulously fun Halloween release (my favorite so far)!

“If the broom fits…” is from Kimmie’s new Halloween Sentiments set.  Hee, hee, hee…love it.

After coloring her, I added some sparkle to her hair, dress and broom using a Buttermilk glitter pen.  I then cut her out and adhered her over the ‘full moon,’  popping her up on dimensional boosters for added depth.

The stars are tiny self-adhesive crystals by A muse.  (I really had to dig through my “stuff” to find them but thankfully they were still there.  I think I’ve had them for years.)

To see more samples for this challenge, please check out the Krafty Blog HERE.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Dude — U Rock

Hellooo.  🙂

I needed a birthday card for my “young teen” nephew and thought Christy‘s U Rock digi-image (from Tiddly Inks) might be perfect.  If you haven’t checked out Christy’s digi-shop, you must.  CUTE stuff there!

Dude — U Rock

       TIUR

After printing and coloring my image, I ran the paper back through my printer to print the “dude” in the corner.  (It was a little scary but turned out ok.)  The font, from Scrap N’ Fonts, is called SNF Goody (designed by my sweet friend, Kim Hughes).

       TIURIN

I finished the inside by printing our message using the same font.  (I hope my nephew “gets” the front or the inside won’t make a bit of sense.)

I’ll be back soon!  Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Digi Image:  Tiddly Inks “U Rock”  Font:  SNF Goody (Scrap n’ Fonts)  Cardstock:  Papertrey Ink Dark Chocolate, Stampers Select  Patterned Paper:  October Afternoon Ducks in a Row 8×8 paper pad  Accessories:  Copic markers (E50, E51, E57, R20, B000, B01, Y21, C1, C3), Prismacolor pencils, brads, dimensional boosters.  Finished size 4 ¼” x 5 ½”.

   MFTWBFF

I love this set.  Reading is one of my favorite pass times (although usually I’m sitting in a carpool line at school with my book in hand, not lying on the couch).

    MFTWBFFCU

I paper-pieced the entire image, layering everything on top of the image stamped on the pink paper.  I wanted to “decorate” the book cover but since everything was already put together, I was afraid I’d ruin it.  Right now, that book would be Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins.  I’ve already read it but am skimming through once more as the third installment of the Hunger Games will be on its way to me very soon.  (Can’t wait!)

         MFTWBFFIN

On the inside, I completed the sentiment and, as usual, used some scraps and the Small Scallop Die-namics border die.  (I used it on the front as well.)

Your next stop along the hop is with our fabulously talented Guest Designer, JENNIFER ROACH.  Check her out! 🙂

Thanks SO much for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Stamps:  MFT WTG “Well Read,” “Mud Buddies” (Pure Innocence—small flowers in “frames”)   Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black   Cardstock: Papertrey Ink Stampers Select, pre-fab white card base by thinkhothues.com (Target), Prism Intense Teal   Patterned Paper: Basic Grey Olivia 6×6 paper pad  Accessories: Copic markers (E000, E00, R20, G99, W00, W1, W3), Spellbinders Nestabilities, MFT Small Scallop Die-namics border die, Michaels mini-brads, sewing machine.  Finished size 6 ½” x 5”.

August à la modes, Preview 2

Hi everyone! I’m back today with a preview of the second new à la modes set by My Favorite Things!  I just love this new line!  So cute and so much fun!

Time to Celebrate

         MFTTTC

This is Time to Celebrate.  The set is a bit different from the others in that it comes with the image of the girl holding the cake and several sentiments, but also the candles and hat.  Those two images are separate so you can include them if you’d like…or leave them out.

The layout is based (a little bit loosely) on one of Jen‘s older SFYTT.

              MFTTTCCU

My girl is holding a big ol’ chocolate cake.  The chocolate in the cake just wasn’t enough so I added “chocolate chips” to the pretty pink icing (tiny adhesive brown pearls).

               MFTTTCIN

On the inside I added a second sentiment and, again, used a scrap from my paper.  (Envelopes and the insides of cards are the best places to use those pieces.)

MFTSSDNOn the front and inside, I used my favorite border die, MFT’s Small Scallop Die-namics.

For more design team samples using this set, please check out Kim’s blog HERE after 11 a.m. EST.

I’ll be back tonight at 10 p.m. for MFT’s WTG VIP hop!  The VIP package, as well as the two new à la modes sets will also be available!  See you then!

Thanks for stopping by!

Stamps:  My Favorite Things “Time to Celebrate” (à la modes)  Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black  Cardstock:  Papertrey Ink Dark Chocolate, MFT white Perfect Paper Panel  Patterned Paper: Echo Park Life is Good “Simple Stripes” and “Brown Floral” and “Seeing Dots”  Accessories:  Copic markers (E000, E00, E18, E31, E33, E35, E57, Y21, R00, R27, YG11, C1 B0000), Prismacolor pencils, MFT Small Scallop Die-Namics border die, Stampin’ Up mini library clip, SU ribbon, Michael’s adhesive pearls, dimensional boosters.  Finished size 4 ¼” x 5 ½”.

August à la modes, Preview 1

Hi everyone!  It’s time for the My Favorite Things design team to preview this month’s à la modes releases!  We have two new sets this month and they’ll be released Tuesday night (8/17, 10 p.m. EST) along with this month’s VIP WTG package.   Fun!  🙂

You’re Groovy

          MFTYG2

This is Groovy Girl and she certainly is groovy!   The set comes with the image I’ve used here and several really fun sentiments.

I  wanted to use this groovy ball trim that I’ve had forever, but I had a bit of a hard time getting the balls to all hang in the same direction.  (I don’t like crooked balls.  Rolling Eyes)  There are still a couple of wonky ones doing their own thing, but overall, they’re cooperating.

               MFTYGCU

I’ve colored with Copics, added ground and grass with pencils then colored over the peace sign with a clear 3-d glaze pen to add some shine and a bit of dimension.  I used the glaze pen on the flower centers and ladybugs on the patterned papers as well.

MFTYGINI kept the inside simple (as always) using leftover scraps of the paper and stamping the image slightly tilted in the corner.

For more MFTeasers using this set, please check out Kim’s blog HERE after 11 a.m. EST.

I’ll be back tomorrow with a sample of the second set, and then again tomorrow night for our WTG VIP release hop!

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Stamps:  My Favorite Things “Groovy Girl” (à la modes)  Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black  Cardstock:  Papertrey Ink Dark Chocolate, MFT white Perfect Paper Panel  Patterned Paper: Doodlebug Design “Little Lady” and “Fresh Cut”  Accessories:  Copic markers (E000, E00, E33, E35, R81, R83, BG05, C1, B0000), Prismacolor pencils, Sakura 3-d clear glaze pen, 1” and 1¼” circle punches, brad, Webster’s Pages trim, dimensional boosters.  Finished size 4 ¼” x 5 ½”.

Mum’s the Word!

              KKMTW

Meet Mitzi the Mummy.  I love her.  She reminds me a bit of my little girl.  Not that she looks or dresses like a mummy…nor does she have red squirrely hair.  But one night as I stopped in her room to kiss her goodnight I noticed she was lying in her bed with her arms up in the air (like a mummy).  I asked what she was doing and she said it made her tired and helped her to go to sleep. (hee-hee-hee)  I’m not sure where she got this idea but whatever works….  🙂

KKMTWCUI colored Mitzi (just a bit) with markers, added some ground with pencils and then snipped off two flowers from some felt trim I picked up somewhere…long ago.  I drew in the tiny eyelashes and skinny flower stems then added the little brads in the flower centers.

Your next stop in the hop is with MISS KRAFTIN KIMMIE herself.  I hope you’ll stop by to tell her just how spooktacular she and her stamps are.  🙂

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Kraftin Kimmie Previews, Day 3 (and a Challenge)

Hi everyone!  It’s Day 3 of August previews as well as Challenge Day with Kraftin Kimmie.  This week Krista has a card recipe up her sleeve.  She’s challenging us to use scallops, buttons and bling!

I’m Batty for You

Is this image cute or WHAT?  I LOVE her!  She’s dainty…yet just a wee bit twisted (lol).  I was so excited to see that Annie had turned her Little Batty Princess into a stamp.)

After coloring sweet Little Batty with markers, I added lots of sparkle using Clear, Black and Buttermilk Spica glitter pens.  (I had a hard time getting a good picture of the sparkle.)

You can find direct links to more design team samples on the Krafty blog HERE.  Then I hope you’ll come back tomorrow (or late tonight actually, 8/15, 1 a.m. EST) for the August release Hop & Shop!  See you then!

Kraftin Kimmie Previews, Day 2

Hey Ghoulfriends!  *snort*  I’m back today with another preview from Kraftin Kimmie’s August release (Sunday, 8/15).

Hey Ghoulfriend!

         KKHGF

Meet Hattie, another of the fabulous new Moonlight Whispers images.  (Don’t you just love that little spider?  …maybe not, hee, hee.)   Hattie has a boyfriend (or “suitor”) named Horace.  I’ll have a sample using him later.

KKHGFCUI colored Hattie with Copics, cut around the image with a Nestabilities die and sponged the edges (with the die still in place).

I just picked up the (top) floral paper from my ‘kind of local’ scrapbook store this weekend.  It’s from Echo Park’s “Life is Good” collection.  (Kind of funny, huh? …maybe just to me.)  The (bottom) brown floral paper is my first shot at Core Impressions.  LOVE that stuff.  I used a sanding block to reveal the color beneath.  Very cool.

Don’t forget to check out the other Krafty girls’ samples (direct links HERE)!  I’ll be back tomorrow with my favorite of my samples.  🙂

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Kraftin Kimmie Previews, Day 1

It’s time to begin the previews for Kraftin Kimmie’s August release!  They’re creepy and they’re spooky, mysterious and ooky!  And oh so cute too!   There are lots of new images this month so be sure to check out the Krafty blog each day (after 7 a.m. EST) for direct links to more design team samples!

You Keep Me in Stitches

          KKYKMIS

Meet Zelda the Zombie.   She’s cute in her own creepy kind of way, don’t you think?  I like the stitches.  She’s one of the many new Moonlight Whispers images available Sunday, August 15th.

KKSCUThe new Halloween Sentiments set comes with many fun and quirky sayings.  I thought this one was perfect with Zelda.  (I cleared embossed after stamping to help the words stand out against the patterned paper.)

After coloring her with markers, I dabbed my colorless blending pen over her clothes, more so on her pants, to give them a faded, blotchy kind of look.

Lastly, I added the black zig-zag stitches and screw brads.

I’ll be back each day between now and then with previews.  🙂

Thanks SO much for stopping by! Have a great day!

Stamps: Kraftin Kimmie Stamps “Zelda the Zombie” and “Halloween Sentiments”  Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, VersaMagic Wheat  Cardstock: Papertrey Ink True Black, Vintage Cream  Patterned Paper: Pink Paislee Twilight Collection “Sunset”  Accessories: Copic markers (E000, E00, E31, E33, E35, E57, V12, V15, V17, YR02, YR04, YR07, YG03, B0000, G0000, YR0000, W00, W1, W3), Prismacolor pencils, clear embossing powder, Karen Foster screw brads, sewing machine, dimensional boosters.  Finished size 4 ¼” x 5 ½”.

Keeping it Simple

Where do the days go?  I can’t believe summer is almost over.  During June and July, we are overwhelmed with swim team practices, meets and associated events.  Then before we know it, it’s August, summer swim is over and we have just a few short weeks before school starts again.  It’s a whirlwind.

I was asked by our swim team B.O.D. President to make thank you notes again this year.  She needed 16 so I tried to keep it pretty simple.

Thank You

    MFTVLPTY

I used the new Die-namics Banner Day die along with Banner Day Alphabet by My Favorite Things.  The two work pefectly together and, in my opinion make great “team” cards.

Since the letters are cut so close and individually, it was very easy to layout the “thank you” on my acrylic block then stamp all at once.  The “thank you” panel is raised on dimensional boosters (because I can’t make a flat card) and I did not adhere the tips of the banners so they could each be tipped slightly up on the ends.

The most cumbersome part of the process was running the banner die through my Cuttlebug nine times for each card.  (In case you’re curious, that’s 144 times.)  But I did it in bits and pieces and I was happy with the final design.  So was the B.O.D. President and that’s what matters most.

We had a great season. So very exciting!  But like every other year, we’re enjoying our break.  🙂

BIG thanks to our B.O.D. and coaches for their countless hours of dedication to another fabulous year!

2010 Red Division Champions!  WOOHOO!!!  🙂

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a great day!
