Lizzie Anne news and Happy Holidays…a little bit Western

Did you know today is World Card Making Day, a holiday especially for cardmakers to “celebrate the creativity of handmade cards and the personal connection they create between family and friends.”  In celebration of WCMD, Lizzie Anne Designs has released a special set at a special price AND placed five other sets on sale ($12 each !! TODAY ONLY), four of which coordinate perfectly with the new release.  Details here.

Did you also know that Lizzie Anne Designs is having a card contest?  Design a card using LAD stamps (that’s the only requirement–any other products are fine).  The winner of this contest will win a $50 gift certificate plus the new WCMD release set, and the winning card will be featured in the November newsletter.  Additionally, TEN runners-up will win the new WCMD release set!  And the best part?  Every card entered into the contest will be donated to Cards for Cancer.  Get all the contest details here. (Note that all entries must be received by October 28!)

HHOI decided to give this LAD set, Merry & Bright, a bit of a different look by going western.  I used markers, coloring directly onto the stamps then stamping onto the vanilla cardstock.  I added a bit of sponging, then faux stitching with a Chocolate marker.

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you have a great weekend with lots of time for stamping/card making.  Don’t forget to check out that new Lizzie Anne Designs set and the contest!

Boo, Little Bug!

BSCD1

I’ve been having fun with my new C.C. Designs stamps from All That Scraps.  I’ve always loved these little Bitzy Bugs.  I’m so happy to have them now!

I was in a store shopping for something else and happened upon this bright green twill.  I  had to have it (along with the bright orange and purple.  If there had been other bright colors, those too would have been in my basket).

I stamped the little bug, colored him with Copic markers and scribbled in a little border.  I used the “Booooo!” stamp for the background and the “Pumpkin Wishes” on the box is part of one of the sentiments in the Halloween set.  The pattern for the box came from the Stampin’ Up! website.

Thanks for looking! Have a great day! 🙂

SU-Take Two!

TFSY2

Time for another Take Two with Lindsey, Trudee and Julia!  Our challenge was to use any new Stampin’ Up set and Stampin’ Up patterned paper.  I decided to go really simple with this one, but I did try to add an extra bit of detail.

After stamping the little hedgehog, I used a Close to Cocoa marker to trace (with the brush tip) each little pair of lines on his body.  Then I filled in a bit with a Creamy Caramel marker, leaving a little of the vanilla paper showing.  His face is Caramel as well, and the butterfly is Pretty in Pink with a Barely Banana body.

CU1I stamped him a second time and colored and cut out the ear and butterfly.  The ear is popped up on a rolled glue dot with the one end squished down to his face so the back of his ear only pops up.  I did the same thing with the butterfly, placing a rolled glue dot under its wings, then a dot of glue under its body. I used my scissors to push his body to the paper so that only his wings are elevated. Then I used a gray Copic to add a bit of shadow.

I used a super-simple layout, added some faux stitching and scalloped ribbon.

Be sure to check out Lindsey, Trudee and Julia‘s blogs to see their creations!  Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

A Toast to You

ATTY

Oh, gosh, I love this reindeer!  Her name is Cheer Deer and she is part of CC Designs new set, Reindeer Games available through All That Scraps.  (Also available individually here.)

This little gal is celebrating so I felt she should wear her fancy party skirt.  I pleated a small scrap of the dp, adhering the ribbon over the top.  (I couldn’t think of a “tactful” way to make a tiny top, so let’s just pretend that for reindeer parties, going topless is appropriate, ok?) Both ribbons are dyed using a Copic marker.  I love doing that! So easy!

I colored her using a water brush and SU reinkers.  I masked her then stamped the stars in the background, adding the red dots with a Stardust gelly roll pen.  They’re sparkly, but it doesn’t show in this pic.  I added the little “cherry” sticker and drew in the stem with a marker.  The focal image is raised on dimensionals.

Thanks for looking!!  Have a great day! 🙂  Tomorrow’s post…another Take Two with Trudee, Lindsey and Julia!

Just a Reminder

JAR

Today all five of the new My Favorite Things releases are available, including this one.  As many of you know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and what would be more appropriate than the  release of Think Pink, Minis on a Mission.  Hands down, this is my favorite of all five of the new sets.

In purchasing this set, you will not only have some really cute images with appropriate phrases, but MFT will donate 50% of the retail proceeds and 25% of the wholesale proceeds for each set sold to further breast cancer research.
