Happy Birthday, SCS Fan Club!!

DTGD MegIn case you didn’t know, the Splitcoast Fan Club turned three this week!  A special forum has been set up where fan club members can participate in challenges hosted by past and present Dirty Dozen designers.  The challenges run through Tuesday, July 31st.  Be sure to check it out!  My challenge will be posted tomorrow (Monday, July 30th)!!  Come play!!  If you aren’t yet a Fan Club member, what are you waiting for?  Get the details here.  There is a WEALTH of creative inspiration at Splitcoast and what better way to show your support than to join.

I had never heard of “Vintage Values” until I saw Meg, aka,  WAXYO’s challenge for today.  The idea is to stamp an image and color it as desired.  (I inked my image in Marigold ink, used a marked to color the green areas, spritzed the stamp with water, then stamped onto watercolor paper.)  Then choose three shades of the same color, first sponging the lightest value over the entire image. Then sponge from the edges in with the middle value, and lastly use the darkest value to sponge the edges.  I used Barely Banana, Apricot Appeal and Marigold Morning.  The last step is to use a light brown (I used Creamy Caramel) to lightly sponge over the entire image.  Very interesting techinique!

Thanks for looking!  Check here for all challenges for today!
