My Favorite Things New Release!

On August 1st, My Favorite Things will release FOUR new stamp sets and they are all awesome!  You won’t want to miss them!  Here are two samples from the first, Back to School.

For this card, I used Basic Grey’s new Infuse paper pad.  I thought this pattern mimicked fabric quite well and would work for a suit.  The desk is actually the chalkboard stamped upside down.  I used Chocolate Chip ink, then decided the desk should be black, so I used a discarded black chalkboard stamped in black, cut down a bit so the brown framed the three sides.

Just a side note, for anyone who has battled with the thinness of SU’s Whisper White cardstock (as a base) or if you don’t like the specks of Confetti White, Papertrey Inc.‘s white cardstock is fabulous.  It’s bright, it’s sturdy and no specks!  Thanks for the enabling, Trudee.  🙂

I had a dilemma with this second card.   I wanted the teacher to hold an apple instead of the pointer stick, but the way her hand was curled around the stick wasn’t going to work.  So I thought hmmm…..how can I get her hand to hold something….then I got an idea!  I stamped her right arm onto a scrap of vanilla cardstock, colored it on the back of the paper then cut it out.  When the ink was dry, I outlined her arm on the back side with a black marker.  It worked!!  Her elbow is bent just so that it works left or right!  I was so pleased with myself!!!  Hee-hee-hee!! 🙂
