Take Two (x4)

HT1A1These challenges are so much fun!  Lindsey, Trudee, Julia and I have chosen Fancy Pants Aged Florals (from Jacksonbelle Embellishments) and Stampin’ Up’s Happy Everything.   Hop on over to their blogs to see their designs!  Since I have a nine-year anniversary at the end of this month (!), I thought I’d get ahead of the game and make my card now.

I first sponged all the edges of the patterned piece with Ranger’s Walnut Stain Distress Ink. It’s the perfect ink for “dirtying up” anything!  Next I distressed the edges.  (I tried SO hard not to do that here. My husband thinks distressed cards look like they’ve been in the road, driven over and stomped upon, a.k.a. “road card”.  –But he says he still likes them.)  To me, the edges of this paper begged to be shredded. The floral design in the corner is one of the Fancy Pants Aged Florals rub-ons.   When I first laid the rub-on onto the patterned  paper, I thought it looked pretty.  Now I’m wondering if it isn’t too busy… The Fancy Pants rub-ons are gorgeous (imo) and so easy to use. (If I have to work up a sweat to apply a rub-on, it’s going in the trash.) I used Basic Brown ink and my Stamp-a-ma-jig to stamp “happy” and “together” on vanilla cardstock.  I sponged and distressed the edges then mounted onto chocolate.  I adhered a strip of chocolate cardstock across the bottom  of the patterned piece and tied the ribbon–I “heart” this ribbon– (from Anna’s Sassy & Sweet Crafts), then adhered the sentiment using dimensionals.  Lastly, I used Stampin’ Up’s mat pack to evenly space the brads.  I use the mat pack so often I don’t ever bother to put it away (along with a lot of other things-lol).  Finished card size is 5″ x 5″.

Thanks for looking and happy Friday!!  🙂
