Kraftin Kimmie Previews, Day 2

Hello.  🙂  The girls are back today with more previews of Kraftin Kimmie’s July releases.  Today I’ve used Little Red from the Moonlight Whispers line.  Along with the image comes a basket accessory stamp and two sentiments.  🙂

Oops!

    KKOOPS

It’s been a while since I “dirtied up” a card but since Little Red’s cape is a bit worn, I thought it could be a bit dirty as well.

KKOOPS CUAfter stamping and coloring my image, I cut it out with a Nestie, then left the die-cut in place while I sponged some Walnut Stain distress ink around the edges.  I sponged around the edges of the patterned papers as well.  Before (and a bit after) tying the ribbon, I sponged it also with the distress ink.

The sentiment was heat embossed to help it stand out against the gingham print.

Kraftin Kimmie Previews, Day 1

Hello!  Today begins previews for Kraftin Kimmie’s July releases!  We’ll be sharing previews through Saturday, the 17th, with a Release Blog Hop on Sunday, the 18th.

This month in the Moonlight Whispers line, Annie has created the CUTEST fairy tale images!  And there are three new mouse images by Steven Leary as well!  All are really cute and we’ve been eager to share.  🙂

Let Your Hair Down!

    KKLYHD

My sample today uses Rapunzel.  I’ve always loved her, and how fun to actually have a stamp of her!  Of course my daughter had to point out the fact that Rapunzel’s hair is blonde, not brown.  When we went to see “Despicable Me” yesterday afternoon, didn’t I pay KKLYHDCUattention to the previews of Disney’s new movie “Tangled”?  Well, yes, I did pay attention (I wasn’t asleep yet), and yes, I do know that Rapunzel’s hair is blonde.  But I didn’t feel like coloring her hair blonde and I think she’s just as pretty as a brunette.  So there.  🙂

I colored the tiny pearls with a pink Copic, and the layout was inspired by an older Mojo Monday sketch.  It’s difficult to see in the photo, but I also stamped the tiny bow at the end of her hair an extra time, cut it out and glued only the center over the bottom bow, bending up each side just slightly.

I’ll be back with more over the next three days.  Thanks so much for stopping by!   🙂

Kraftin Kimmie — Pretty in Pink

Hi everyone!  It’s time for another challenge with Kraftin Kimmie!  This week Andrea has challenged us to “Pink it Up.”  So I did.  🙂

Yes You Can-Can!

   KKYYCC

Suzette (from the Moonlight Whispers line) is dancing up a storm, providing some needed encouragement for a friend in need.

KKYCCCUI colored her with Copics and then added some glossy shine to her lips and heart hair clip using a clear 3-d glaze pen.

To see more samples for this challenge, you can check out the Krafty Blog.  If you’d like to play along, be sure to link your creation there for your chance to win a free stamp from Kraftin Kimmie!  And fyi–Kimmie’s July previews begin next Thursday!  🙂

A Cup of Love and a Sketch

Hi everyone.  Time for another challenge with Kraftin Kimmie.  This week Donna has a fantastic sketch for us.  I (very) often struggle with layouts so when that part is done for me, I’m a happy camper.  You can find the sketch and challenge details here.  Be sure to post a link to your creation on the Krafty blog so you’ll have a chance to win a free stamp from Kraftin Kimmie!

A Cup of Love for You

    KKCOLFY

Here I’ve used Nadine from the Moonlight Whispers collection. She was part of the coffee/tea kit but is now available separately.

KKCOLFYCUIn place of Nadine’s cookies, I used Gabrielle’s tea cup accessory stamp, then filled the cup with two punched hearts, adding a bit of highlight to each with an opaque white pen.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a great day!  🙂

A Kraftin Kimmie Saturday Challenge

This week with Kraftin Kimmie my fellow krafty girl, Melanie, is challenging us to make a shaped card (anything but square).  Since my brain is in multiple places at the moment, I decided to go with a simple circle.  If you’d like to play along with the challenge, be sure to post a link to your creation HERE on the Krafty blog for your chance to win a free stamp from Kraftin Kimmie.

Sandy Wishes

    KKSW

I used all Nestabilities to create my card.  The card base was cut into a circle using my biggest round Nestie with the layered scalloped circle attached to the circle base.

KKSWCUAfter coloring Sandcastle Miles, I added lots of sparkle to the sand using a Buttermilk Spica glitter pen.  A black 3-d glaze pen added a bit of dimension and shine to Miles eyes.  And the layout was inspired by an older Mojo Monday sketch.

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Something’s Fishy….

Hi.  🙂   This week Kraftin Kimmie is sponsoring the sketch on the Cute Card Thursday blog.  I was a bit of a rebel and changed the layout a little bit so hopefully that’s ok.  The original sketch is a great one.  I just felt the need to tweak it just a tad for my design.

Something’s Fishy

   KKSF

I used another of the super-cute mermaids from Kimmie’s Summer Mermaid Kit.  This is Arianna.   I believe those little seahorses have been up to something and she’s going to get to the bottom of it.  🙂

The sentiment is from the Mermaid Sentiments which comes as part of the kit.

     KKSFCU

After coloring the image with markers, I used Buttermilk, Melon, Lavender and Sky Blue glitter pens to add lots of sparkle.

ETA:  I’ve had several questions on how I colored this image so I’ll address them here, now, rather than later.  Please know that I’m not Copic certified, there may be easier/better ways to achieve certain looks, and that I have learned from other bloggers and by trial and error.  This is just how *I* do it (which doesn’t mean it’s the “right” or “best” way).  🙂

  • To color the blue shadow around the mermaid and seahorses, I used a B0000 marker.  I began at the edge of the image, dragging the marker out and away from the image, lifting off the paper as I drag away.  I then went back and added more color closer to the image (using the same method but shorter strokes).  Once I was satisfied with the shadow, I used a marker filled with Copic Colorless Blending Solution, sweeping the marker in circles over the edges of the color.  Doing so softens the edges, blending the color out into the paper.
  • Beneath the fins, I *lightly* colored the body area with YG03, only adding extra color along the bottom edge.  I then added the Y21 and YR31 to the fin area, concentrating the color in the bottom and top corners and along the left side  of the top (layer) fin.

 I hope that helps!  🙂

I’ll be back tomorrow with two teacher “thank you” cards.  I can’t believe it’ll be the last day of school.  That year went by FAST.  Sniff-sniff.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Swimming By to Say Hi!

   OFP

I love Tubing Miles.  🙂

I used my Fiskars Rotary Trimmer with the wave blade to create the alternating blue/ivory “waves”.

I stamped the tube twice, popping up the bottom edge with dimensional boosters.  Miles’ mask is also popped up.  I stamped the mask portion a second time, colored it, then used a kraft knife to cut out the center.  I cut out the oval along the outer edge, adhered the piece to a scrap of acetate and cut out the oval again.  Thin strips of foam boosters were placed around the edge, giving the mask just enough of a lift.

Your next stop along the Krafty hop is with super-crafty JENN BALCER!  Woohoo!  Can’t wait to see what she’s come up with!  🙂

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Happy hopping (and shopping)!!

I have one more mermaid before tomorrow’s big release!  This is Marina

Best Fishes

   ofp

She’s so pretty.  And skinny.  🙂

As with the rest of my mermaids, Marina is covered with sparkles.  The fish is as well.  I had a hard time capturing the glitter this time…maybe it was the time of day.  *shrugging*

To attach the sentiment, I linked together several jump rings and hung them from the fish’s tail.

To see more samples using the Summer Mermaid kit and two Miles images, please check HERE.  I’ll be back tomorrow with Miles and Kimmie’s release hop!  🙂

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Kraftin Kimmie Preview, Day 3

Hello.  🙂  Today I have a sample using one of Kraftin Kimmie‘s new Miles the Mouse images.  I think he’s totally adorable but I’ll admit, I seem to have fallen into a bit of a hole with my creativity.   Hopefully, I’ll be happier with the next one (on Sunday).

Have a Beachin’ Day!

    KKBD3

I had a hard time matching the greenish/blue color for Miles’ swim trunks so I paper-pieced them.  I even cut out the tiny flowers after stamping KKBDCU3them onto the gold print paper.

After coloring Miles, I colored over his eyes with a black 3-d glaze pen for some added dimension and shine.

To see more samples of Kimmie’s June releases, please check HERE.  The Summer Mermaid Kit and both Miles images will be available Sunday, June 13th.

I’ll be back tomorrow with another Moonlight Whispers mermaid!  Thanks for stopping by! Have a great day!  🙂

Kraftin Kimmie Previews, Day 2

Hi everyone! I’m back with another sample using Kraftin Kimmie’s June Mermaid kit (available Sunday, June 13th)!  Meet Cordelia!

Eat My Bubbles!

    KKEMB

While I was coloring her, I was trying to decide which of the new Mermaid Sentiments to use and I thought, “She sure looks like she’s KKEMBCUthinking that others can eat her bubbles.”  Hee, hee, hee.

After coloring the image with Copic markers, I dotted colorless blending solution over the seashells in Cordelia’s hair and along her body.  (A tip I picked up from my friend, Lori.)

I also added some tiny adhesive pearls to the string of pearls in her hair.

These mermaids really are fun to color.  🙂

Once I was finished with my markers, and just like my mermaid yesterday, I colored over parts with KKEMBSP3the same Melon and Buttermilk Spica glitter pens.

For direct links to more samples, please check out the Krafty blog HERE.  I’ll be back tomorrow with Miles the Mouse.  🙂

Thanks for stopping by! Have a great day!
