Hi everyone.  I have another Christmas card to share today.  🙂

I tried to keep this one somewhat simple…or at least “clean.”  🙂  I used Sending You a Little Christmas from My Favorite Things along with Rectangle STAX and Icicle Border Die-namics.  I used a tiny snowflake from Christmas Ornaments stamp set, and the little swirl on each side of the sentiment was stamped using Wild Cherry ink and Lisa Johnson’s Howdy set.

I used Couture Cardstock’s One Sheet Wonder for my card base.  Blending of Copics is not quite as nice on this paper as on X-Press It Blending Card.  But if you’re looking for a cardstock on which you can color with no bleeding to the other side, this paper fits the bill!

I’ve been admiring all of the window cards I’ve seen lately (on Pinterest), but I don’t have a window die so I faked my own.

I first cut the window from the front of my card using a rectangle die from MFT’s Rectangle STAX.  To create the window “frame,” I used the same rectangle die to cut a window from a separate sheet of white cardstock.  (I’ll call this second window Piece B.)  I then used a bigger rectangle die, centered it over the open space of Piece B, taping the die (using removable tape) to secure.  I then ran the piece through my Vagabond and I had a nicely die-cut frame.  The center window strips were cut to size and inserted behind the frame.

I cut a strip of Icicle Border Die-namics from a scrap of light blue dotted paper, trimmed it to fit the width of the window and depth of the frame and adhered before using foam tape to secure the frame to my card front.

Next, I used a pencil to very lightly mark the opening of the window so I’d know where to stamp my image on the inside of the card.

There’s room to stamp an additional sentiment in the upper left corner and room for signatures below the image.

I’ve mentioned before that I’m not a big fan of mass production so I’ve been trying to take every available opportunity to complete holiday cards.  One more down today (and another tomorrow)!  🙂

On my card today I used one of my favorites of the winter/holiday Pure Innocence sets from My Favorite Things, Sending You a Little Christmas.  Along with the set, I used MFT’s new Jumbo Snowflake Die-namics along with Let It Snowflake, Snow Drifts and Dainty Dots Border.

After coloring my image with Copics on X-Press It Blending Card, I dotted in snowflakes using a clear Stardust gel pen.  I dotted sparkles onto the girl’s various trims and added lines of shine on the snowflakes.  The tree was decorated with a Baby Blue Spica glitter pen with the clear Stardust dotted over the star.

In the center of the snowflake, I stitched a shiny Sno Cone button.

On the inside, I stamped the image and sentiment, then added some Snow Drifts. Before adhering the drifts, I sponged the edges with Antique Linen Distress ink to add definition.

This week I used Pure Innocence Holly Girl, Mix & Match Banner Die-namics and Paver Red cardstock.

After stamping and coloring with Copics (onto X-Press It Blending Card), I pieced her dress, adding the the little red band as a separate piece.

The Gumdrop Green buttons were stitched on using Hemp Cord.

On the inside, I stamped the image again and added another sentiment from the set.

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!  I’m so glad Black Friday is over.  We ventured out yesterday and holy moly.  I couldn’t believe the crowd.  I think it was worse than I’ve *ever* seen.  Maybe that’s a good sign for the economy.  (I know it was a good test of our patience.  Sheesh.)

Anyway, we had quite a bit going on last week (aside from Thanksgiving).  It was my husband’s birthday and my father-in-law was in the hospital for emergency surgery.  Actually, he’s still there but he’s improving so for that we are very thankful.  I hope he’s able to go home soon.

I felt a bit bad giving this card to my husband on his birthday as his dad had been to the hospital just the day before.  It actually was not the best day ever, but we made it the best we could under the circumstances.

I used My Favorite Sentiments, Wild Cherry ink, Nightshift Blue and Sweet Tooth cardstocks as well as Fishtail Flags STAX Die-namics, all from My Favorite Things.

The flags were cut from Pebbles “Walnut Grove” patterned paper, with the flag ends bent slightly forward to add a bit of dimension.

The sentiment was stamped in two parts, first inking only the stripes using Wild Cherry ink.  (I used post-it notes to cover the words.)  I then stamped the sentiment in black, using the red lines as a guide for placement.

After stamping, sponging and layering, the sentiment panel was adhered using foam tape.

On the inside, I stamped a sentiment from Big Greetings, using Wild Cherry ink to emphasize the word “BIG.”

It’s sketch time with My Favorite Things!

This week I’ve used cute, new Pure Innocence Angel.

After coloring with Copics, I used a clear 3-d glaze pen to add some dimension (which, of course, you cannot see) to the wings .  They aren’t entirely glossy.  I added little scooped lines above each of the stamped “scoops.”

On the inside, I stamped a sentiment from Pure Innocence All Occasion Sentiments and used already cut scraps from the patterned paper.

Sometimes you just need a very simple card.  I struggle with these.  I admire other designer’s clean and simple designs, but when I make something I’d call “quick and easy,” I feel like it’s unfinished…or sad.  (I know sometimes it’s just “me,” but CAS is *not* my strong suit.)  My card today was SUPER quick.  And SUPER easy.  But this time, I actually like it.  🙂

I used Big Greetings from My Favorite Things.  That’s all.  One simple sentiment.

Using hemp cord, I stitched a Kraft button over the patterned paper, using a Kraft card base and corner rounder punch on the bottom corners only.

I finished the inside even more quickly than the outside, stamping a sentiment from More Essential Sentiments.

Time for another fun sketch with My Favorite Things! (I really like this one!)

I used new Pure Innocence Elf Girl along with Seasonal Sentiments, Circle and Rounded Banner STAX.  I placed a strip of Simply Scallops border along the bottom and layered two small strips from Accent It Flags & Tags Die-namics to create the little tab in the upper left corner.  (Lots of fun dies!)

After stamping and coloring with Copics onto X-Press It Blending Card, I cut out my little elf and adhered her over the circle and banner dies using foam tape.

Base cardstock and ink are both Jelly Bean Green.

I created a quick finish to the inside using another Rounded Banner die-cut, Simply Scallops border and a sentiment from Clearly Sentimental about Christmas.
