MFT May Release Hop & Shop

Welcome to the May release with My Favorite Things! If you’ve just happened upon my blog, you may want to go back to the beginning here  If you’ve just come from Jodi, then you’re right on track.

How…is it going?

Today I’ve used Fred Bear Plays Indian along with Open Zig Zag Border Die-namics.

I used markers to color the bear and pencils to add in the ground.  (I like my card except for all that white space around the feather.  It’s really bugging me, but I didn’t have time to change it.)

On the inside, I completed the sentiment and stamped the little coordinating teepee image.

ALL of the new sets and Die-namics you’ve seen previewed this past week are NOW available (here).  But first I hope you’ll continue on with the hop.  THEN shop.   🙂

Your next stop is with WENDY

Thank you SO much for visiting!  Have a great night, and happy shopping!

MFTeasers, Day 5

Hi everyone!  The My Favorite Things team has one last day of previews before the big release tonight at 10 p.m. EST.

Today is the last day for teaser prizes, so be sure to leave comments as you look around!  You can find direct links to today’s samples HERE on Kim’s blog.  And don’t forget to check out the pre-release party (HERE) tonight from 8-10 p.m. EST for lots of fun, chatter, winners from today’s comments and the announcement of our next Guest Designer!   🙂

Today we’re previewing Clearly Sentimental about Friendship and Girls Rule (WTG).

Be Good to Yourself

I did something a little different with my girl this time.

I gave her a little stripey top and dotted skirt instead of the dress.  When I inked my stamp for paper-piecing the top, I carefully wiped away the belt line with a baby wipe, creating a longer top piece.

I rolled the ribbon flower onto a big glue dot and added the small flourish, which I cut in half, placing part above the flower, part below.  (The smaller flourishes are MUCH more manageable than the longer ones.  No fights this time.  🙂 )

On the inside I stamped my sentiment and a flourish from the Sassy & Sweet set.

Along the bottom on the front and inside, I used MFT’s Simply Scallops Die-namics die.

Just to recap:

  • Pre-release party HERE tonight from 8-10 p.m. EST.

Welcome to Day 4 of May previews with My Favorite Things!  Today we’re  sharing samples of Inspired By “Up, Up & Away,” Claire Keay “You Had Me at Woof” and “Just My Type” die and stamp set.

a little message for you

This is a bit of a different style for me so I struggled a bit as to what to do with this very cool typewriter from “Just My Type.”

I die-cut the typewriter from cream cardstock and the note paper from a lightly patterned paper.  I popped up the typewriter, then bent the paper around a thin rod.  I curved the middle down and the upper ends up so it’s a bit wavy.  As a finishing touch, I clipped a very tiny Tim Holtz mini-paper clip to the upper right corner.

Along the bottom (beneath the trim and buttons), I used our new Scallop Ribbon Die-namics.

On the inside I stamped my little message, and die-cut one strip of the Scallop Ribbon, cutting it in half and placing each piece along the top and bottom edges of the yellow dotted paper.

Here’s the whole “Just My Type” set with die.  Very cool, yes?  (I LOVE the “don’t make me use ALL CAPS…”  lol.  My fave.  (Next time…)

Welcome to Day 3 of May previews with My Favorite Things!  Today the team is sharing samples of the five new Pure Innocence sets:  Lily of the Valley, Roll With It, Skater Boy, Pucker Up and Fresh From the Oven.  I didn’t know which one to start with so I literally put them into a pile, closed my eyes and pointed.

Roll With It

I kept my card fairly simple (mostly because I still feel like I’m in that slump).

I paper-pieced the helmet, shirt and shorts, leaving the bottom edge of the shirt tipped up just a bit.

I did have quite the battle with the crystal flourish.  I love the look of them, but I don’t always have the patience for them.  I swear they have a mind of their own.  This one was flopping all over the place, folding and sticking to itself… I came very close to wadding it up into the ball it seemed to want to become and throwing it in the trash.  But I managed (somehow) to salvage it (and my sanity).  There has to be a secret to applying them. I just haven’t figured it out yet.

A simple finish to the inside.
