Best Day Ever (Masculine)

Hi everyone.  🙂  Just popping in today with a quick and easy card using a sketch from a recent Paper Crafts magazine.

Here I’ve used one of My Favorite Sentiments along with Textile Rectangle Die-namics from My Favorite Things.

To create the black mat for the die, I simply placed the die on my Black Licorice cardstock, traced around with a pencil and cut along the pencil line.

On the inside, I stamped a sentiment from Big Greetings using Black Licorice ink and adhered a scrap of patterned paper.

Sending Joy

Hi everyone.  🙂    I finished another of the images used in my Copic hair tutorial, found HERE.    This one uses Doodle Garden Hunny Bunny from My Favorite Things.

I stamped onto X-Press It Blending Card with Memento Tuxedo Black and colored with Copics.  The flowers were die-cut using Pretty Posies Die-namics and have Sweet Tooth buttons stitched to the centers using Hemp Cord.  After trimming around the ears, the image was die-cut using Circle STAX 1 and matted with Circle STAX 2.

Beneath the very bottom of the floral panel, I tucked a thin strip of Mini Scallop Edge Die-namics.

On the inside, I finished the inside simply (as always), using MFT Black Licorice ink and a second sentiment pieced together using “happy” from Party Time and “spring” from Springtime Wishes, two additional Doodle Garden sets.

If you’d like to see step-by-step instruction on coloring the hair in this image, be sure to check out my tutorial HERE.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Under the Weather?

It’s sketch time with My Favorite Things!  🙂  This week I chose to use Pure Innocence Under the Weather.

I paper-pieced much of the image, coloring the rest with Copic markers.  I used Circle STAX 1 and 2, a Fishtail Flag for the sentiment, Kraft Button with hemp cord and Kraft heavyweight cardstock as my base.

The inside was finished very simply, using a second sentiment from the set.

March Creative Challenge-Fave MFT Color Combos

Hi everyone!  It’s time for this month’s Creative Challenge with My Favorite Things!   The MFT Design Team Creative Challenge is a monthly feature where we are challenged to explore our creative side using a specific theme, product, or technique.  This month we are highlighting our favorite color combinations using MFT Ink, cardstock, buttons, ribbon, and felt.

Be sure to check out the MFT Blog for a list of all participating designers who have a project to share with you today.

I love the combination of Hot Fudge, Limeade and Razzle Berry.  So bright.  And fun.  🙂

Here, I’ve combined those colors with Doodle Garden Sweet Friend.  I stamped the image using Memento ink onto X-Press It Blending Card, colored with Copics, then framed the image using dies from new Blueprints 1 Die-namics.  The sentiment was divided to fit inside the circle, die-cut and matted using Circle STAX 1 and 2.

On the inside, I added a leftover strip of the green paper and stamped a simple silhouette using dark brown ink.

My second favorite MFT color combo is Kraft with Sno Cone.  I pretty much like Kraft paired with anything, but I especially like it paired with the pale blue. Here I combined those colors (along with a bit of red) using Doodle Garden Fluttering By.   I used white ink and Spring Backgrounds (Lisa Johnson Designs) to create a subtle pattern on the Sno Cone panel.

The sentiment was stamped using Black Licorice ink onto a Mini Tabs Foursome.  My flower was die-cut from Kraft and Sno Cone cardstock using Flower Medley with a Kraft button stitched into the center using Hemp Cord. The frame, scalloped panel and blue “stitched” strip were cut using Blueprints 1.

On the inside, is stamped a sentiment from Pure Innocence All Occasion Sentiments (in Black Licorice ink) and a partial silhouette in Sno Cone ink.

Be sure to check out the MFT blog for more clean and simple inspiration!

Thanks for so much for visiting today!  🙂

Happy Birthday

Hi everyone!  Happy Saturday!  (It’s happy for me, anyway.  Hopefully for you too!)   🙂

I’ve had this really cute Ava image from Saturated Canary lying around, colored, for quite a while.  I finally took a few moments to put it on a card.

I printed the image on X-Press It Blending Card, colored with Copics and added a happy birthday sentiment from Doodle Garden Party Time from My Favorite Things.

Beneath the musical pattern strip, I tucked half of a Scallop Ribbon Border Die-namics strip then stitched on two buttons die-cut using Button Border Die-namics.  (She’s sooo cute!)

Thanks so much for stopping by!  I’ll be back soon!

Copics:  E000, E00, E11, R20, BG13, BG18, BG70, R46, Y21, E31, E33, E35, E37, R81, R83, R85, YG03, YG05, YG17, YG67, E40, E41, E42, E43, YR23, W00, W1, W3.  Finished size 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″.

MFT Academy – Coloring Hair with Copic Markers

Hi everyone!  I’m excited today to be your  MFT Academy Guest Professor once again! This time my focus is on coloring hair with Copic markers.   I’ve used a few different images ranging from very basic to more complex with lots of tips and photos of each.  You can check out the full tutorial HERE.   I hope you find it helpful.  🙂

For my final (and most complex) hair sample, I used Far Out from the Doodle Garden line at My Favorite Things.

The image was stamped onto X-Press It Blending Card with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, colored with Copics and layered upon Tangy Orange cardstock.  I used Circle STAX 1 and 2 with Black Licorice ink for the sentiment.

On the inside, I stamped a second sentiment and silhouette using Black Licorice ink.  Along the bottom I placed a Little Open Scallop Strip, also used on the front.

Again, you can find my tutorial on the MFT Blog right HERE.  Thanks SO much for visiting!  🙂

Stamps:  MFT Doodle Garden Far Out    Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black and Potter’s Clay, MFT Black Licorice  Paper: MFT Tangy Orange and Sweet Tooth, X-Press It Blending Card, My Mind’s Eye Collectable “Notable” (6×6)  Accessories: Copic markers (E00, E11, R20, E13, E15, E18, BG70, BG72, BG75, YR16, YR18, E37, G21, G24, G28, Y21, E42, Y0000, Y000, E09-to color crystals), MFT Little Open Scallop Border, Circle STAX 1 and 2 Die-namics, Zva Creative clear crystals, X-Press It 1/2″ foam tape.  Finished size 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″.

A Poppy in the Hand…

Hi everyone!  My Favorite Things has yet another great sketch this week.  I used my favorite new Lisa Johnson set, Pretty Poppies.

I stamped the flowers onto Smooth White cardstock using Electric Red ink. Look at how fabulously the ink covers the Smooth White paper.  Love it!

After masking the lower flower, I stamped the stems and leaves in Gumdrop Green.

I tweaked the layout just a bit in order to accommodate the sentiment.  Circle STAX 1 and 2 provided a perfectly layered circle.  A Black Licorice button was stitched onto the panel using white string.

On the inside, I stamped a single poppy leaving plenty of room for a personal note.

hello

There’s another great sketch this week with My Favorite Things.  🙂

Today I’ve used Lisa’s new Pretty Poppies along with Poppies and Leaves Die-namics.

My poppies were die-cut from new Smooth White cardstock then stamped in Lemon Drop ink.  In the centers, I dotted a few different shades of green and bluegreen using Copic markers.  The leaves were die-cut from Gumdrop Green cardstock with the stems stamped in Gumdrop Green ink.

On the light pink background (behind the poppies), I stamped the script in Pink Lemonade.   And I used my favorite sentiment ink, Black Licorice, to stamp the hello.

On the inside, I stamped the script again in Pink Lemonade and the sentiment in Black Licorice.

MFT March New Product Tour – Party Time Four Ways

Hi everyone, and welcome to the My Favorite Things March New Product Tour. You can find direct links to design team samples HERE on the MFT Blog. Don’t forget to leave comments as you look!  One lucky winner will receive a $50 gift voucher to the MFT Boutique!    🙂

Tonight my focus is on the new Doodle Garden set, Party Time.   On each of my four cards, I used a card base of Kraft heavyweight cardstock along with X-Press It Blending Card, Copics and my favorite new patterned paper, American Crafts Dear Lizzy “Lucky Charm.”

On my first card, I combined Party Time with new Blueprints 1 Die-namics.

I love how the stitched lines emboss on the button and vertical strip.

On the inside, I used Black Licorice ink to stamp the sentiment and silhouette.

On my next card, I combined Party Time with Party Banner.

I poked holes to tie Hemp Cord at the ends of the banner and paper-pieced the girl’s jumper.

On the inside, I drew a border using a Copic multi-liner and stamped a second sentiment in Black Licorice ink.

Moving on with the redhead…  🙂

I die-cut a couple of tabs from Blueprints 1 and hung them using Hemp Cord.  Along the bottom, I die-cut the edge of the patterned paper using Wavy Edge Die-namics.

I finished the inside quickly and easily.

Lastly, I used a few Fishtail Flags, tied off with Hemp Cord, to add balance to the white panel.

The little gift was paper-pieced from a scrap of striped paper.

On the inside, I stamped a second sentiment and added a couple more flags.

All of the new products are now available in the MFT Boutique right HERE!  🙂 Be sure to check out the MFT blog for direct links to more samples using this month’s stamp and Die-namics sets!

MFT March Previews, Day 6

Hi everyone!  Today the  My Favorite Things team is sharing samples of two new Pure Innocence sets, Feeling Sassy and Under the Weather.

Today I used Feeling Sassy.  I love that little pose and, of course, this sentiment. (I say it all the time.)  Along with the little sassy cutie, I used Kraft cardstock and new Blueprints 1 Die-namics.  I used a sketch from it’s coordinating PDF (found on the MFT blog and on the MFT Boutique (at release time).

After stamping on X-Press It Blending Card and coloring with Copics, I die-cut the image panel then used Kraft ink to stamp some swirls from Finishing Flourishes and open circles from Lollipop Additions-Birthday.

The sentiment tag was tied using Hemp Cord.

On the inside I stamped a second sentiment from the set in Black Licorice ink and the silhouette, swirls and dots in Kraft.
