Smile, You’re Picture Perfect

It is finally time for the My Favorite Things August release!  All the new products are now available in the MFT Boutique, but first I hope you’ll take our New Product Tour.  You never know…you might see something you just can’t live without.  😉

I have two cards to share tonight, both using one of my favorites of the new Pure Innocence sets, Picture Perfect.

Is this not one of the cutest concepts ever?  She’s adorable!

I colored with Copics, then pieced her dress.  I used W00 and W1 markers to add the “pleats” to her dress.

One of the Mini Tabs Foursome Die-namics was used for the “smile” tab.

I used a second sentiment on the inside.  This was not the sentiment I *wanted* to use, however.  One of my hardfast rules of using acrylic stamps is to N-E-V-E-R remove a stamp from the plastic sheet without immediately adhering it to a clear block.  (Do you know where this is going?)  I pulled the sentiment I wanted to use, set it on my paper, did …something…I don’t know what.  And when I came back to stamp my sentiment, it was gone.  Nowhere to be found.  It’s stuck to something…somewhere.  I was so mad at myself.  I wanted to use “You’re picture perfect” but now can’t…until I order a second set.  Grrr…  (Still cute though.)

On my second card, I used the same set, the smallest of Traditional Tags and our new Layered Rose Die-namics.

Again, I used Copics to color, then paper-pieced the dress, adding pleats with the same gray markers.

To “hang” the tag, I poked a hole on each side of the frame, inserted string and tied.

Here’s a close-up of our pretty Layered Rose.  I placed a red die-cut on the bottom of the stack, slightly off center, to help the flower stand out from the same pattern behind.  (It’s a nifty little trick I often use.)

On the inside, I stamped the little head, minus the frame, along with a sentiment from Pure Innocence All Occasion Sentiments.

Don’t forget to head on over to the MFT blog for direct links to more samples using this month’s stamp and Die-namics sets!

Thanks for visiting! 🙂

MFT Preview 7 — Retro Squares

Now that you’ve been teased all week long, it’s almost time for you to shop for your favorite Brand Spankin’ New products from My Favorite Things.  But first we’re focusing on our new Die-namics!

I decided to do a little playing around with our new Retro Squares Die-namics and one of my favorite sentiment sets, Big Greetings. After die-cutting several strips of Black Licorice, Bubblegum, Razzleberry and Sweet Tooth cardstock, off I went!  🙂

On my first card, I used the die strip just the way it is presented, layered with pink and white squares inserted into the open spaces.

On my second card I simply used the frame strips.

Here I used the negative space from the solid die, placing alternating dark and light pink squares in the open spaces.

And here I did a little clipping/inserting with more open frames.

To create this look, I first adhered the left black strip to my paper.  I only applied the adhesive to the left edges of the strip.  Next I placed the darker pink strip.  To insert the left side of the dark pink strip into the openings on the black strip, simply clip the left side of each dark pink square.  Once inserted into the black, the black edges hide the clip of the pink.  Continue with light pink, black and finally the darker pink.  🙂

MFT Preview 6 — It All Comes Out in the Wash

It’s time to share this month’s Pure Innocence releases with My Favorite Things! Today we have EMT Boy, EMT Girl, Picture Perfect, Loads of Love and Piggy Bank.

Today I chose to use super-duper cute Loads of Love.   I also used Circle STAX, Fishtail Flag STAX and Faux Crochet Border Die-namics.

After coloring with Copics, I pieced the dress, then also pieced the apron, attaching the waist to the dotted paper and placing a foam dot beneath the bottom edge.

I really like this cute sentiment.  🙂

I finished the inside simply (as usual).

MFT Preview 5 — Don’t Worry, Be Happy

Today the My Favorite Things team is back sharing samples using this month’s new à la modes, Polished to Perfection and 80’s Girl.

Today I’ve used 80’s Girl along with Retro Squares Die-namics (and one of my 14 new paper pads…)   🙂

I used Copics to color my image, then colored over the sweater and leg warmers with a clear Spica glitter pen.  Remember the knits with the thin silver thread woven throughout?  No?  Lucky you!  🙂

Along the left edge I used new Retro Squares Die-namics.  I used random scraps of cardstock to fill each square.

A simple finish to the inside.  (I *really* like those squares.)

MFT Preview 4 — Happy BD Jersey

Today the My Favorite Things team is sharing samples of two fun new Die-namics/Stamp sets — Jersey and Bookmark.  I took this opportunity to make a card for my nephew’s birthday.

Today I’ve used Jersey Stamp/Die-namics set, new Retro Squares and Notched Tag Die-namics with Hot Fudge cardstock.

I used the Retro Squares strip to frame the “Happy BD” message.  The little star separating the words is from Lisa’s Circus Spectacular.

The star tab is actually a Notched Tag, upside down.  I die-cut the star from the “patterned” tag, then layered that tag atop a die-cut brown tag.

After die-cutting the jersey, I stamped the 16 (because my nephew is 16…wow) using Amuse Studio French Roast ink.  The brown lines were drawn in with a marker (by simply following the embossed lines from the die-cut).  I then layered the jersey atop two layers of die-cut tablet backing and adhered to the card using foam boosters.

I “borrowed” the idea from Lisa to use this sentiment from  My Favorite Sentiments.  She had used it inside a birthday card and I thought it was perfect.  (Plus it’s a nice, large sentiment.  And this is a rather large card.)

MFT Preview 3 — A Grandmother’s Love

It’s Day 3 of My Favorite Things August previews!  Today the team is sharing samples using Clearly Sentimental about Audrey Hepburn and Clearly Sentimental about Grandparents.

There are fabulous sentiments in both sets, but I just had to go with the grandparents.  Mine were all so very special to me.  I’m a lucky girl…with sooo many wonderful memories.

I decided to put a little bit of a different spin on this set, using one of the sentiments on the front but one from another set on the inside to create a sympathy card.  To be honest, I was thinking of myself when I made it as my very dear grandmother just recently passed away, but I’m sure the time will come, sadly, when I can pass the card on to a friend.

As I mentioned before, I’ve been trying to use my “older” My Mind’s Eye papers to make room for their new lines.  Here I used MFT’s Whip Cream as the base with MME Miss Caroline “Howdy Doody” patterns.

To create the flowers, I alternated two slightly different patterns using MFT’s new Layered Rose Die-namics.

On the inside, I used a sentiment from Clearly Sentimental about Sympathy.  (It’s a great, must-have set.)

MFT Preview 2 — A Little Birdie Told Me…

It’s Day 2 of previews of My Favorite Things August 7  release! Today we’re sharing samples using Inspired by “The Front Porch-Fall” and Mouse in the House “It’s Your Birthday.”

I used cute little Mouse in the House “It’s Your Birthday.”  Two pieces of our new Layered Rose Die-namics create a simple flower and a Sentiment Strip was used for the sentiment.  (I only ran the die through just far enough to cut the fishtail end and a bit of the sides.  I stamped my sentiment, then used my paper cutter to cut the strip to the needed length.)

Along the bottom I used the smallest of our Triple Scallop Border.  Base cardstock is nice, heavyweight MFT Kraft.

After stamping onto X-Press It Blending Card, I paper-pieced the shirt using a little scrap of gingham I had tucked inside the paper pad.  I used Copics on the image with colored pencils for the ground/grass.

A simple finish to the inside.

Hey, Sassy Pants

It’s time for another great sketch with My Favorite Things!

This week I chose Cute-a-Tude from the Pure Innocence line.  I have new My Mind’s Eye paper pads coming soon so I’m on a mission to use as much as I can from the last release.  My card today uses Miss Caroline Howdy Doody and Dolled Up (both 6×6).  Base is MFT’s Sweet Tooth heavyweight cardstock.

After stamping my image onto X-Press It Blending Card, coloring and piecing, I die-cut the circle using MFT’s Circle STAX.  The flower layers were cut using Pretty Posies, one of my favorite flower dies.  The button is from MFT’s Razzleberry button collection.

Since I spent two hours creating my card for this week using the wrong sketch (yes, I did), I finished the inside on this one even more simply than usual.  (I really like my other card so I’ll be sharing that once the previews are completed.)

<—Here’s the sketch if you’d like to play along. You can find direct links to more samples HERE.  And remember, if you upload your card to the SCS gallery using the keyword MFTWSC83, you will have the chance to win up to $20 in MFT money!  One winner is chosen at random each week.  More info can be found in the MFT Forum in SCS.

Thanks for visiting!  Have a great day!  🙂

MFT Preview 1 — Happy Birthday to You!

It’s time to begin previews of My Favorite Things‘ August release!  We’re especially excited today as one of our preview sets is Lisa Johnson’s first release with MFT, Circus Spectacular! What makes it even more exciting is that it’s a stamp/Die-namics duo!  Sooo many possibilities!  Also previewing today is our newest Who’s That Girl set, WTG Get’s Down to Business.

Today I decided to play with Lisa’s Circus Spectacular set and dies.  I also used our new Ticket Strip Die-namics, Mini Pennants and Simply Scallops Medium Border.  Base is MFT’s Black Licorice heavyweight cardstock.

Here’s a close-up of the vintage circus tent with the birthday sentiment stamped inside.

I stamped two tickets, popping the top ticket on foam tape.

On the inside, I stamped a die-cut elephant and added a row of stars.
