Kraftin’ Kimmie Previews, Day 3

Hi everyone.  I’m back with another pirate preview.  Since it’s Saturday, that also means it’s time for a challenge on Kimmie’s Krafty blog.  This week Melanie has challenged us to “Stash the Booty.” We’re incorporating a hidden or secret component on our card.

You Are a Treasure

  YAAT

This is Billy Blyth.  Isn’t he cute?  I think so.

I got the ‘double row of stitching’ idea from my friend, Lori

For my hidden component, I decided to hide a thank you gift card behind Billy.

X Marks the Spot

        XMTSGC

I adhered a double thickness of foam tape behind the focal image on the top, bottom and left sides (except where the twill runs beneath the image), so the gift card slides easily behind and won’t fall out the other side.  It also helped to mat the gift card onto black cardstock cut just a tad shorter than the open space between the foam tape (measuring from top to bottom).

BBCUThe colors I used on Billy’s face are a little darker than those I usually use as I wanted his face to look just a wee bit rugged.

I traced a thin line of black glitter onto his earring and used a black 3-d glaze pen on his buttons.

You can check out the challenge details here.  If you play along, be sure to post a link on the challenge blog as one random stamper will receive a free Cutthroat Lizzie image!

You can find links to other design team previews on the challenge blog or under my “Kimmie’s Krafty Girls” category on my right-most sidebar.

I’ll be back tonight (tomorrow…1 a.m. EST) for Kimmie’s February release blog hop!  Thanks so much for visiting!  Have a great day!

Kraftin’ Kimmie Previews, Day 2

I’m back today with another preview from Kraftin’ Kimmie’s February releases.  This time I’ve used a new image from Crissy’s Cuties called “Puppy Love.”

Just Wanted to Say Hello

    JWSH2

I think this little girl is so sweet.   As usual, I colored with Copics and added in ground with pencils.

I used a black 3-d glaze pen on the puppies’ noses and eyes and added two Hero Arts “Metallic Decor” stickers on the wagon wheels.  (They’re flatter than brads and self-adhesive.)

Kraftin’ Kimmie Previews, Day 1

It’s that time again!  Today is the first day of previews from Kraftin’ Kimmie’s February release to take place Sunday, February 14th.    This is one of my favorite releases yet!  🙂

Yo, Ho!

   yo-ho.jpg

My first sample uses one of the new pirate images from the Moonlight Whispers line. Meet Cutthroat Lizzie.  Isn’t she…somethin’?  lol. (I love her.)  There’s a fabulously fun new pirate sentiment set too. I used part of one of the sentiments here.  I left off a couple of the ho’s.

KKYHCU4I colored with Copics, added a bit of stitching and added lots of subtle sparkle with black and clear Spica glitter pens.  I used black on her eye liner and earrings, and drew in a few bangle bracelets.  The clear pen was used on her eyelids, shirt, sword and belt buckle.  And I dotted in a little belly button.

Be sure to check out Kimmie’s Krafty blog for links to other design team samples!

I’ll be back tomorrow.  🙂

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Another big snow storm? Seriously?

About 32 inches last weekend….10-20 (?) more today and tomorrow?  At least it isn’t as much as the last time but it’s still a significant amount.  I just don’t want to shovel more.  (I really shouldn’t complain…at least we’ve had power.  Many still don’t.)

We never get this much snow in one winter.  And we still have more than a month to go.  I’d like to make my “UGH” from yesterday BIGGER.  This is insane.  **sigh**

I thought I’d quickly post another spring-ish card before I make my first trip out on the road since last Thursday to look for some coffee cream and a coat for my son.  His zipper broke and we don’t have a spare.  (I’m hoping they haven’t all vanished along with the snow shovels, snow blowers and milk.  We shall see.)    ETA:  Found a coat!  (But no milk.  That’s ok.  The coat was more important.)  And I made it to Starbucks!!  WOOHOO! lol.

Make a Wish

   MFTMAW

This is one of the new Jolinne images by My Favorite Things.  Isn’t she sweet?  I used Copics and pencils for coloring, one of my favorite flowers from my friend, Jody and another of those perfectly sized Zva Creative crystal flowers on her necklace .

          MFTMAWCU

I colored over her eyes with a black 3-d glaze pen to make them dark and shiny.  And I used a clear Spica glitter pen over her wings for lots of subtle sparkle which, of course, you cannot see here.

MFTMAWINA simple finish to the inside completed the card.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Stamps:  MFT “Fairy Sweet” (Jolinne)  Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black  Cardstock: Stampin’ Up Sage Shadow, Prism Iced Teal, MFT Perfect Paper Panel  Pattterned Paper: Basic Grey Lemonade 6×6 paper pad  Accessories: Copic markers (E000, E00, E31, E33, R20, R81, R83, R85, B0000, B01, B02, BG0000, C1, C00), Prismacolor pencils, Prima Homespun Bittle, button/white string, Zva Creative crystal flower, ribbon, black Sakura 3-d glaze pen, clear Spica glitter pen.  Finished size 5” x 5”.

In Need of a Little Spring

I’m getting so sick of winter.  We had over 30″ of snow Friday and Saturday, a plow finally came through tonight so we can get out.  Mind you, the plow was not exactly “industrial-sized.”  There are still quite a few inches of packed ice on the road, but at least we can get out…with four-wheel drive.  But more snow/rain/ice mix (who knows) is predicted for Tuesday/Wednesday.  This is way more nastiness than we usually get here.  U-G-H.  I am just not a winter person.  So I’m posting something a little more springy today.

Have a Blooming Good Day!

    MFTBGD

I’ve used Have a Blooming Good Day, one of the new Pure Innocence sets from My Favorite Things.  (The set must have sold out already as it isn’t showing in the store, but I’m sure more will be in soon.)

As I did previously, I drew in little socks and colored with Copics.  The little girl’s dress is paper-pieced, and I added a tiny brad in the center of the flower.

MFTBGDINI kept the inside very simple, carrying over the little flower portion of the focal image.

Next up is a new Jolinne.  🙂  Thanks so much for stopping by!   Have a great day!

Stamps:  MFT “Have a Blooming Good Day” (Pure Innocence)  Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black  Cardstock: Stampin’ Up Close to Cocoa, MFT Perfect Paper Panel   Patterned Paper:  October Afternoon Farm Fresh 8×8 paper pad  Accessories:  Copic markers (E000, E00, E31, E35, R17, R20, Y11, Y0000, YR23, YG03, BG0000), Spellbinders Nestabilities, Prismacolor pencils, Recollections mini brad, Fiskars Apron Strings border punch, sewing machine.  Finished size 5” x 5”.

It’s JiFFy Time!

My JiFFy friends and I are back for another challenge!  This one was pretty easy though.  Julie chose this fab Henna paper from Basic Grey’s Origins collection.  Once the paper was on it’s way to everyone, Alli revealed that she had chosen Charlotte from Kraftin’ Kimmie‘s Moonlight Whispers line.  (You probably already know how much I adore Charlotte so using her for this challenge was a treat.)

Sending You Smiles

   KKCJFF

I didn’t do anything extraordinary here.  Just colored with Copics and Prismacolor pencils as usual.

KKCJFFCUI don’t know why, but I really like to color her hair.  Today she’s blonde with some darker “low lights.”  🙂

I added a few tiny brads in the upper and lower corners of the patterned panels but they’re hard to see.  And I popped up the whole front panel (again, as usual).

I placed the sentiment on the inside of the card, finishing it simply with some sponging and leftover scraps of the patterned paper.

Be sure to check out what the other JiFFy girls did with this same image and paper!  Can’t wait to see for myself!

A Blog Hop & Shop with My Favorite Things

Hi everyone!  Welcome to the My Favorite Things February release blog hop!  If you’re just popping in here, you may want to go back to the beginning with Kim.  We have lots of new sets this month so I don’t want you to miss anything.  If you’ve just come from Barbara, then you’re in the right place.

Also remember, there is blog candy hidden somewhere along the way so be sure to leave lots of comments to increase your chances of winning!

You Make the Grade

    MFTOFP

Today I’ve used this sweet, sweet new set, You Make the Grade from the Pure Innocence line.  I stamped the image onto a cream MFT Perfect Paper Panel (love those!) paper-pieced an argyle sweater onto the girl and drew in little socks.

To add a bit of dimension, I inserted two tiny brads on the easel.  I popped up the focal panel as well as the entire front panel.  Popping up the whole front panel allows me to wrap twill or ribbon and accommodate other items on the back without the card bulging in weird places.  Plus I like bulky cards.  🙂

This adorable set comes with the image and sentiment shown as well as an A+ (shown on the inside of my card) for only $9.

You can find all of the new releases (including some new products) right HERE, right now.  But first hop on over to see what fabulousness FRANCES has to share!

Thank you so much for all of the comments on my preview cards for this release.  I really appreciate it!

Thanks for stopping by!   Have a GREAT night/day!  🙂

MFT Previews – Day 5

It’s the final day of previews of My Favorite Things February releases!  Today we’re sharing samples using the last three new sets, Lovin’ from the Oven (WTG), Clearly Sentimental About Food and Clearly Sentimental About You

I don’t know that I’ve ever used a sentiment as my focal point (maybe once?) so I’m not sure if I even pulled this off, but I chose to use Clearly Sentimental About You.  I am not a mushy/romantic person …at all.  Ask my husband, poor guy.  But I especially loved this sentiment.

Perfectly Imperfect Person

  MFTIPP

I used my favorite of this year’s Valentine paper, Be Loved by My Mind’s Eye and I created three smaller versions of “Mercy Flowers.”  (That’s what I’m calling them.)  She (Mercy) has a great tutorial found here.  She used SU’s scalloped circle punch but I wanted my flowers a bit smaller so I used her same instructions but McGill’s Multi Flowers (previously “Baby Blooms”) and Petite Flowers (previously Petite Petals) punches. MFTIPPFL

The flowers were very easy to make (thanks to Mercy’s tutorial).  I’m sure I’ll be making more.

I used a second sentiment from the Clearly Sentimental About You set on the inside leaving plenty of room for a pukey love note (lol).  (I say that “semi-” jokingly.  😉 )

Today the My Favorite Things design team is excited to introduce a new line and illustrator.  Is this girl totally adorable or what?

There are three new sets in the Jolinne line this month, Birthday Balloon, Miss You Much and Fairy Sweet.  All three will be available Wednesday, February 3rd at 10 p.m. EST.

Today I’ve used Birthday Balloon.

Very Happy Birthday

   MFTVHBD

I colored my little birthday girl with markers, added ground and grass with pencils and adhered a perfectly sized (tiny) Zva Creative crystal flower onto her necklace.

Here’s a quick finish to the inside:

I kept my layout fairly simple, paper-pieced the little girl’s dress and used markers and pencils for the rest.
