Hello, hello! I finally had the chance to play with a “new to me” watercolor medium, Karin Brushmarkers. I LOVE them! I don’t have a lot of watercolor experience, but these markers are so very easy to use!
The ink is very vibrant. I scribbled just the smallest bit onto an acrylic block then dipped in a watercolor brush. The markers can be used directly on paper and then diluted with water, or even used tip to tip to get a blend. I’ve not yet tried that. The markers are similar to Zig Real Brush Markers but the tips are firm. I like them so much better! I can’t stress the vibrancy!
I stamped Purple Onion Designs‘ Birch onto Arches 140 lb. cold press watercolor paper using Taylored Expressions Oreo ink, then used Henna, Lilac, Cerise and Black Karin Brushmarkers. The markers can be purchased individually or in sets. I have the Basic and Flowers sets. (There is also a Skin Tone set on my wish list!) As for brushes, I used a Silver Black Velvet #4 round brush.
Once the image was stamped, painted and dried, I added a Sweetest Season sentiment and die-cut a stitched frame.
If you’re also new to watercolor, I highly recommend Karin Brushmarkers. Try just a few to start! I think they’re fabulous!
