An Organized Crafty Stash, Day 2 of 5 – Stencils

It’s Day 2 of Five Days to Organizing Your Crafty Stash with My Favorite Things!  Today we are focusing on stencils.  They don’t take up a lot of room, but when you have quite a few, it’s better to have them organized than in one thick pile, hooking into each other.  🙂

I have lots of shelves in  my stamp room and quite a few baskets.  I use a small square one for stencils as well as stencil-related supplies.

I used Berrylicious card stock to create a few dividers for my stencils, using my handy label maker to label each. (Now available are free downloadable files to create your own labels for MFT stamps, dies, stencils, etc. HERE . YAY!)

I have some perfectly sized clear pockets on the way.  I look forward to using them as side-by-side stencils get hung up on each other and would be so much easier to browse and remove if “individually packaged.”

For now, they are at least organized.  🙂

Since there’s so much extra room in the basket, I’ve also placed inside modeling pastes, a palette knife, paint brushes and a few gift cards I sometimes use for spreading pastes.

Be sure to visit the MFT Blog for links to more stencil storage, and don’t forget to leave a comment for your chance to win one of two prize packages:

  1. I just love how simple it can be to organize our precious supplies!!
    Thanks for these great ideas!

  2. Thank you for your idea

  3. Thanks for showing how you store your stencils NOW. Sometimes I would rather spend my money on stamps, stencils and dies, rather than organizational products. I just love ideas on what works. Thanks for sharing.

  4. I know (as does any crafter) what you mean about the stencils ‘hooking together’, Grrr! I love how you store the paste, tools, etc in the same basket. THAT is a great idea! TFS!

  5. I like that your stencil supplies are all in one spot.

  6. Very handy storage idea!

  7. These are great storage ideas. I am ALL about organization!

Thanks Michele for sharing your ideas, it sure helps the rest of us to get our act together.

  9. I agree with an earlier post…….I would rather spend money to get more supplies than to spend it on organizational systems. So inexpensive methods are appreciated. That’s why I tackled my stencils first as they looked the easiest. Using the same packaging from MFT, I just barely cut off the top, left the MFT cardboard insert, and put in a vivid piece of copy weight paper to show off design. Printed out labels and have them in a photo box that cost $2.00 or less with lots of room to move in some mixed media supplies as I can get them. Thanks for sharing your ideas and thanks so much to MFT for doing this series!!! Greatly appreciated!

  10. What a great idea! Thanks so much for sharing! Probably sounds crazy, but sometimes, organizing my stash is almost as much fun as playing with it!

  11. Since I am in the process of organizing my new craft room, any ideas are welcomed. I am trying to use a lot of storage containers I already have and fine tune organizing my clear stamp sets, stencils, dies, etc. Right now they are just in an area waiting to be rescued!!!!

  12. I love using baskets for storage. I love the labeler. I need to get a new one.
