MFT September New Product Tour

It’s finally time to share My Favorite Things‘ newest releases!  The new products are now available in the MFT Boutique right HERE.

You can find direct links to all samples HERE on the MFT Blog.  Don’t forget to leave comments as you look!  One lucky winner will receive a $50 gift voucher to the MFT Boutique!

I have a trio of cards to share using new Prehistoric Girl from the Pure Innocence collection.  To go along with one of my cards, I created a coordinating treat jar.

All base cardstock is MFT heavyweight cardstock and all stamping was done on X-Press It Blending Card (my favorite for coloring with Copics).

Here I’ve paired my Prehistoric Girl with MFT’s new Steel Grey cardstock and My Mind’s Eye The Sweetest Thing “Bluebell” patterned papers.

I created a “window” affect by die-cutting layers with Oval STAX 1 & 2 and then popping up the frame on foam tape.  After coloring with Copics and stamping the background pattern, I used a sponge to daub in a bit of added color.

The flowers were die-cut using Steel Grey cardstock, dotted paper and new Flower Medley Die-namics. Steel Grey buttons were stitched into the centers using Hemp Cord.

The sentiment was stamped onto a Fishtail Flag, ends trimmed and then matted onto Steel Grey cardstock.

On the inside, I stamped a second sentiment (from Pure Innocence All Occasion Sentiments) and added another die-cut flower.

For my second card I’ve created a totally different look using MFT’s Red Hot cardstock along with fun gingham and flower prints.

After coloring with Copics, I added a little gingham “cave dress.”

On the inside, I stamped the sentiment and the little Prehistoric Girl upside down.  After all, she is silly.  🙂

On my third card, I used MFT Hot Fudge cardstock and another of my favorite new My Mind’s Eye collections, Gnome Sweet Gnome.

This time I gave the girl a cute little flower print dress.  🙂

The sentiment was stamped onto a Mini Tabs Foursome which was then layered atop a dark brown die-cut to provide more definition against the gingham paper.

I die-cut and layered Flower Medley Die-namics atop a Hot Fudge Vine Border then stitched/tied a button using more Hemp Cord.

On the inside, I used another sentiment from Pure Innocence All Occasion Sentiments, another vine and flower.

To go along with my third card, I created a treat jar filled with chocolate rocks. (They look VERY real, don’t they?  They were purchased at Wegman’s, in case you’re curious.)

Below are all of the Die-namics used on my projects.  (Clicking on each one will take you directly to that product in the MFT Boutique.)

Be sure to check out the MFT blog for direct links to more samples using this month’s stamp and Die-namics sets!

Hoot, Hoot, Hooray!

Hello again!  I’m back with a preview of one of My Favorite Things‘ September Pure Innocence releases.  🙂

Today I’ve used super-cute Owl Costume, MFT’s Hot Fudge heavyweight cardstock and X-Press It Blending Card.

I colored with Copics, adding grass/ground with colored pencils.  The little sentiment flags were die-cut using Mini Wavy Pennants Die-namics.

Along the bottom, I used Simply Scallops Small Die-namics, placing a different colored mini brad between each scoop.  (The different colors match my “much-crazier-than-usual” combo of patterned papers.)

On the inside, I stamped my sentiment in black and the owl using Amuse Studio Cocoa ink.  To add a bit more color on the sentiment panel, I inserted a row of tiny brads as used on the front.

h(appy) b(irthday)

Hi everyone!  The My Favorite Things team is back today with samples of our new à la modes set, Big Birthday Wishes.

I’ve paired this fun set with MFT’s new High Rise Alphabet Lowercase, Fishtail Flags STAX and Open Zig Zag Border Die-namics.

My h and b were die-cut from tablet backing then the striped paper. The thicker letters were then layered atop the blue die-cuts to create a shadow.

After coloring the girl’s shirt with Copics, I used a Wine Copic 0.1 Multiliner to add the dots.

On the inside, I used scraps of patterned paper and the negative edge of the Open Zig Zag border beneath the blue patterned strip.  Waste not, want not.  😉

Open if You Dare

We’re moving on to Day 4 of previews with My Favorite Things‘ September release!  Today the team is previewing two super-fun new stamp/Die-namics duos — Spider Web and Lollipop Treat.

I created a card and matching gift bag using Spider Web.  I LOVE this set!  Also, along the bottom of the bag and card, I used border strips die-cut using our new Harlequin Die-namics.  Base cardstock (as well as spiders and webs) were die-cut from MFT Black Licorice cardstock.

Above is a close-up of the bag.  After die-cutting the spiders, I adhered a small piece of the green patterned paper behind the eyes so they “glow” green.  When adhering my spiders, I popped each one up using foam tape then gently bent up each leg for added dimension. (Ick.)  🙂

I mimicked the layout of the bag for my card front.  As with the bag, I placed a glittery green brad between each diamond of the Harlequin border.

On the inside of my card, I used the other half of the spider web used on the front.   That worked out perfectly.  🙂

A Garden of Love

Today the My Favorite Things team is sharing samples of Clearly Sentimental about Grandparents and Clearly Sentimental about Coffee.

I’ve used MFT’s NEW-this-month Steel Grey cardstock and ribbon along with Clearly Sentimental about Grandparents.  (There are gorgeous new Steel Grey buttons and felt as well, but I didn’t use them here.)

I used the Polka Dot Greetings label die for my sentiment, layering two die-cut grey labels beneath.  After tying my ribbon, I inserted a grey Medium Leafy Flourish.

Along the bottom, I placed a strip of Simply Scallops Small Die-namics, inserting a pewter brad between each scallop.

I finished the inside simply, taking advantage of the patterned paper and stamping a sentiment from Inspired by Flowers Set #1.

Cheer Up, Friend

It’s sketch time with My Favorite Things!

This week I looked through my older à la modes sets for inspiration.  I wanted something that would fit well into the circle of this week’s sketch and decided the umbrella from The Rainbow Will Come would work perfectly.

After piecing the umbrella, I added shadow using cool gray Copics.

Base cardstock is MFT’s Red Hot with my image stamped and colored on X-Press It Blending Card.

The sentiments I used are from WTG Puddle Jumper.  (Perfect for mixing with this à la modes.)

On the inside, I used more sentiments from Puddle Jumper (and added more rain.)  🙂

<—Here’s the sketch if you’d like to play along. You can find direct links to more samples HERE.  And remember, if you upload your card to the SCS gallery using the keyword MFTWSC88, you will have the chance to win up to $20 in MFT money!  One winner is chosen at random each week.  More info can be found in the MFT Forum in SCS.

Thanks for visiting!  Have a great day!  🙂

A Special Boo to You!

It’s time to begin teasers for My Favorite Things‘ September release!  Today we’re sharing samples using WTG Fairy Dust, Lisa Johnson’s Primitive Pumpkins, a stamp/Die-namics duo, and Distressed Diamonds, a trio of backgrounds.

I used Lisa’s Primitive Pumpkins to create a card and matching treat can.

I stamped and die-cut one of the cute pumpkins then popped it up on foam boosters.  My string was colored with an orange Copic to add a little pop of color. Cardstocks are MFT’s Black Licorice and Kraft.

On the inside, I stamped a little sentiment from the set and added one of the cute flourishes.

To decorate the treat can, I adhered strips of patterned paper, adding a strip of stamped/lined stars.  The smallest of the Traditional Tags was used on the handle with some hemp, a small button and star pin.
