Friends Forever

It’s Wednesday and that means it’s sketch time with My Favorite Things.  🙂

This week I decided to dig a bit through my older Pure Innocence sets.  There are quite a few I haven’t used in ages, but today, this one caught my attention. I used A Cart Full of Friends along with Fishtail Flags and Small Scallop Border Die-namics, Hot Fudge heavyweight cardstock and X-Press It Blending Card.

After stamping and coloring with Copics, I pieced the shirt, adding shadow with W1 and W3 markers.

Adding shadow to paper-pieced parts is something that is often forgotten or overlooked, but I think it makes a big difference.  Here it looks as though I pieced in the sleeve and arm separately but I didn’t.  It’s all one piece.  I used a kraft knife to cut out the arm from the dotted paper, so the colored arm shows through.  I ran a black marker around all cut edges of the green dotted paper before adhering to the image then added the shadows with the grays.

On the inside I stamped the image a second time using Desert Sand ink and added the sentiment.  The word “Sending” is from Better Get Better with the remainder of the sentiment from A Cart Full of Friends.

<—Here’s the sketch if you’d like to play along. You can find direct links to more samples HERE.  And remember, if you upload your card to the SCS gallery using the keyword MFTWSC91, you will have the chance to win up to $20 in MFT money!  One winner is chosen at random each week.  More info can be found in the MFT Forum in SCS.

It’s So Nice Having a Friend Like You

I don’t seem to have much free time lately…time to stamp just for fun.  I’ve recently decided that I need that time, and so I’m going to make the time to do just that.  And here we go!  🙂

I absolutely adore Stamping Bella‘s Uptown Girls.  I equally adore the sentiments that come with each.  Some are warm and fuzzy, some are cute and quirky.  I ♥ them ALL.

This is Uptown Belinda and Bernadette The Bench Buddies.  Soooo sweet.  I truly love this image.  (Warm fuzzies.)   🙂

I colored with Copics then added in the white dots on the red shirt using Copic’s Opaque White (and a toothpick). The little tab at the top was die-cut using My Favorite Things Mix & Match Banner and the little layered heart is from Notched Tag Die-namics.

  • Tip:  If you have a favorite stamping paper that’s bright white (like X-Press It Blending Card) but want to use warmer patterned papers, sponge the edges of your white paper with a lightly toned warm ink .  Here I used Ranger’s Antique Linen Distress Ink to create an easier flow into the warmer patterns.

Thanks for visiting!   Have a great day:)

Stamps:  Stamping Bella “Uptown Belinda and Bernadette The Bench Buddies”   Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Ranger Antique Linen   Paper: My Favorite Things Kraft, X-Press It Blending Card, Echo Park For the Record 2 “Tailored” (6×6) Accessories:  Copic markers (E00, E11, E13, E15, E18, E31, E33, E35, E57, E40, E41, E42, E43, Y21, BG70, BG72, BG75, R05, R08, W00, W1, W3), My Favorite Things Mix Match Banner, heart from Notched Tag and Simply Scallops Die-namics, Melissa Frances pearls, sponge.  Finished size 5″ x 6 1/2″.

Just Wing It

It’s once again sketch time with My Favorite Things!

This week I used Fairy Dust Who’s That Girl along with fun new Echo Park paper, Circle STAX 1 & 2 and Little Open Scallop Strip Die-namics.

I pieced the dress, adding in some shadow using warm gray Copics, then around the wand I added bits of sparkle using Star Dust Stickles.  There’s actually a nice yellow glow around the image but it isn’t showing very well in this photo.

On the inside, I stamped just a wee bit of the image in the upper right corner, leaving plenty of space for a personal note.

MFT September Creative Challenge

Hi everyone.  I’m back today with the My Favorite Things September Creative Challenge.  The MFT Design Team Creative Challenge is a monthly feature where we are challenged to explore our creative side using a specific theme, product or technique.  This month we were challenged to create a card or project with no patterned paper.  Be sure to check out the MFT Blog for a list of all participating designers who have a project to share with you today.

I created a trio of cards…all using no patterned paper.  Whew.  🙂

This was indeed a challenge for me as the very first thing I choose (after the stamp) is the paper.

It’s Your Big Day

My first card uses MFT’s Whip Cream as the base, topped with Kraft.

I used Copic Opaque White and a toothpick to add dots to Tangy Orange cardstock. Once the dots dried, I die-cut several layers of Botanical Beauty Die-namics and added a couple of Royal Leaves cut from Gumdrop Green cardstock.

After layering the flower pieces, I stitched them together using Hemp Cord and a Whip Cream button.

The sentiment is from Big Greetings.  Underneath, I stamped a strip of dots from Lollipop Treat using Amuse Pumpkin ink.

On the inside, I stamped “Congratulations” (also from Big Greetings) and added another row of dots.

Thank You

My second card uses flowers from Pretty Pocket and the little bar of stitches from Lollipop Treat.  The trio of dots is from the Primitive Pumpkins set and the “Thank You” is also from Big Greetings.

After stamping the flowers and dots, I colored with Copics and stitched a Whip Cream button using Hemp Cord.

On the inside, I added another sentiment from Big Greetings and a couple more flowers.

Hello Pumpkin

My last card uses the dots and pumpkin from Primitive Pumpkins along with Highrise Alphabet Lowercase.

To add a bit of dimension to the pumpkin, I cut two thin strips of Gumdrop Green cardstock, wrapped each tightly around a bamboo skewer and then secured to the pumpkin with a tiny brad.

I stamped a couple of flourishes with the three little pumpkins along the bottom on the inside of the card.

Be sure to check out the MFT blog for more inspiration!

Thanks for so much for visiting today!  🙂

Boo

Hi everyone. 🙂  It’s sketch time once again with My Favorite Things.

This week I used lots of Die-namics and only a couple stamps.  The little pumpkin from Halloween Charms was used in the center with Circle STAX, First Place Award Ribbon and 1/4″ Rosette.  On the side I layered a Jumbo Fishtail Banner, and I used a tab from Mini Tabs Foursome for the Boo sentiment.

The “Boo” is from Spider Web and the little dotted border beneath the pumpkin is from Lollipop Treat.

I layered a black pumpkin beneath my lighter pumpkin and used a dark brown marker to dot over the embossed lines.  Around the pumpkin stem (which is just a free-hand cut piece of paper), I tied and curled a bit of hemp cord.

On the inside I stamped another sentiment from Spider Web and “hung” the web charm.

All cardstock is MFT’s Black Licorice.
