An Exciting MFT Annoucement!

Hi everyone! The My Favorite Things team has a b-i-g announcement today. We are thrilled to be adding another team member, not only as a fellow designer, but also as an illustrator.  I’m sure you know her, we all know her.  She’s super sweet and we couldn’t be happier.  Please help us welcome LISA JOHNSON! Her first stamp set will be available for purchase on August 7th along with the rest of the August release.  You can read the official announcement HERE on the MFT blog.

My card today uses Groovy Girl (because I think Lisa is groovy).  🙂

I stamped my girl onto X-Press It Blending Card, colored her, cut her out and adhered.  The grass was added in with colored pencils.

My sentiment was stamped onto a Sentiment Strip and I used a Leafy Flourish along with a Rolled Daisy.  MFT Razzleberry Replenishments was used as the card base and to die-cut the rolled flower.

On the inside, I stamped a few of the other sentiments from the set along with the girl in the lower right corner.

I added a die-cut Peace Sign onto the “wire,” adding dots with a 0.03 Copic multiliner to look as if the peace sign is hanging.

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great day!  🙂

SFYTT – Have a Picture Perfect Day

Hi everyone!  My Favorite Things is sponsoring the July SFYTT (Sketch For You To Try).    We hope you’ll play along! 🙂

The moment I saw the circle and strip on the side, I thought to use our new Little Shutterbug set (Pure Innocence) along with Mini Film Strip Die-namics.

MFT Black Licorice Replenishments was used for base cardstock and all matting.  Cute little shutterbug was stamped onto X-Press It Blending Card, colored and cut out.

I used both sets of Circle STAX to create the “camera lens.”  After die-cutting the film strip, I cut a strip of patterned paper to fit beneath.  The girl’s dress was paper-pieced then shaded with gray markers to add depth.

Inside (above.)

It’s a fun sketch!  You can check out all the details HERE.

Thanks for stopping!  Have a great day!

Make Every Day Extraordinary

Hi everyone.  I don’t know about where you are, but here it is SMOKING hot, making those swim practices torturous (for the parents, anyway).  We have a swim meet tomorrow and the temperature is predicted to be 102.  Holy moly. NOT looking forward to this one…five or so hours in that heat…. bleh.

I wanted to take a moment to quickly post another card I created using Forever in Bloom by Taylored Expressions.

It’s a bit bright, but I like how it turned out.  (I like the gingham in the background.)

I stamped the flowers onto X-Press It Blending Card, colored with Copics, then used Hydrangea Blooms Taylored Die to die-cut the pieces.  The leaves are adhered only in the centers, allowing the tips to bend up slightly for added dimension.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  And stay cool!  🙂

Stamps:  Taylored Expressions “Forever in Bloom”   Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black   Paper:  Prism Intense Pink, X-Press It Blending Card, Echo Park This & That and Lilly Bee Design Double Dutch (both 6×6)   Accessories:  Copic markers (R22, R24, R29, YR03, YR06, E33, E35), TE Hydrangea Blooms and Medium Scallop Taylored Dies.  Finished size 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″.

Let’s Get Wild

Happy 4th of July to all of my American friends!!

It’s time to get sketchy with My Favorite Things!  We had sooo many fun releases this month, I wanted to use a set I hadn’t had a chance to ink.

For my card I used one of our super-cute new à la modes sets, On Safari.

I colored my image with Copics then added grass/ground with colored pencils.  I die-cut a Sentiment Strip, stamped “Let’s Get Wild,” lopped off the right side and stitched to the image panel.

To help my Vine Borders stand out, I die-cut burgundy vines to place beneath each patterned one.  I adhered only the center stems, then slightly bent up each leaf for added dimension.  (To do this quickly and easily, use a paper piercer, bamboo stick or other thin pointy object to lift several at one time.)

On the inside,  I stamped a partial silhouette of the safari girl and adhered a scrap of Vine Border left over from the front.

<—Here’s the sketch if you’d like to play along.  Remember, if you upload your card to the SCS gallery using the keyword MFTWSC79, you will have the chance to win up to $20 in MFT money!  One winner is chosen at random each week.  More info can be found in the MFT Forum in SCS.

Thanks for visiting!  Have a great day!  🙂

Here I’ve used Surf Chick (Pure Innocence) along with new Jumbo Squiggle Border and Hibiscus Die-namics.

I never know what to do with the “scene” pages in paper pads but here I decided to take advantage of the sun and wispy palm trees.

I stamped my girl onto X-Press It Blending Card, colored with Copics, then cut her out and tucked her between some layers of Jumbo Squiggle Border.

Surf board stripes were drawn in with a 0.25 black Copic multiliner.

I stamped my sentiment onto a length of twill and adhered a hibiscus to the left using foam boosters.  The stamen was created by fraying the end of a short piece of twill.

The lighter shades of the squiggle were cut from MFT Replenishments in Blu Raspberry and Berrylicious.

On the inside, I used more Jumbo Squiggle Border strips and completed the sentiment I began on the front.  (The “and” was taken from Cute-a-Tude.)

On my second card, I used Surf Chick again, but added in her buddy, Surfer Dude.

I stamped Surfer Dude onto X-Press It Blending Card, masked him with a Post-It note, then stamped Surf Chick.  They’re colored with Copics, cut out and adhered, with a foam booster beneath each head to level the papers.  Again, board stripes were drawn in with a Copic multiliner.

The top edge of my “fence” was cut using Mini Scallop Edge Die-namics with Kraft accents.  The sun was die-cut using Circle STAX.

On the right, I tacked a birthday “sign” to the “fence.”

On the inside, I stamped a few additional sentiments from the two sets and added some flourishes from Sassy & Sweet using Desert Sand ink.

All of our new products are available right now, right HERE in the MFT Boutique.  Please refer back to Kim’s blog for direct links to more samples using this month’s releases.

Thanks for visiting!  Have a great evening!

MFT Preview 6 — It’s Party Time!

It’s time to share this month’s Pure Innocence releases with My Favorite Things! Today we have Surfer Dude, Surf Chick, Gymnast Girl, Little Shutterbug and Birthday Girl.

I used Birthday Girl.  🙂

I pieced her dress, adding shadows with a gray marker.  The flowers were die-cut using new Plentiful Petals (which coordinates nicely with Upsy Daisy –top left smaller flower).

The sentiment is stamped onto a partial Sentiment Strip and I added a strip of Dainty Dots along the bottom.

On the inside I stamped another sentiment from the set along with a partial silhouette of the girl.

MFT Preview 5 — You Are My Anchor

Today the My Favorite Things team is back sharing samples using this month’s new à la modes, On Safari and You Anchor Me.

I had a hard time deciding which of the à la modes to use first but finally settled on You Anchor Me.  I also used new Sea Charms, Sentiment Strips and Simply Scallops Medium Die-namics.  I shortened the sentiment strip to fit the sentiment by first die-cutting the strip, stamping my sentiment (to one side), and then placing the strip once again in the die, sliding it over to where I wanted the second edge cut.

I colored my image with Copics and added a ship wheel charm off to the side.  (I layered it atop a red wheel to help it stand out a bit against the blue gingham paper.)

On the inside I stamped sentiments from Thanks a Bunch and added an anchor charm.
