Dream Until Your Dreams Come True

Hi everyone!  I’m trying to get back into the swing of things after several super busy months.  I spent a good bit of time in my stamp room yesterday trying to regain some mojo and work on My Favorite Things previews (which begin tomorrow)!  To get myself in the mood, I thought I’d start with an easy (no coloring/sentiment only) card.

I love this sentiment from My Favorite Sentiments…the fonts, the cool flourish.  I used Textile Rectangle for the sentiment panel, Pretty Posies for the flower and Simply Scallops Medium along the bottom.  Base cardstock and scallops are Hot Fudge with a strip of Hot Fudge ribbon across the center.  In the center of the layered flower is a button from MFT’s FABULOUS new (Hot Fudge) button collection.  Love these!  Different shapes, sizes, no broken pieces, VERY nice!  I’ve realized that all buttons are not created equal.  🙂

After stamping my sentiment (using Amuse Studio French Roast), I die-cut a second Textile Rectangle from Hot Fudge cardstock. I cut the Hot Fudge panel in half, clipped off the side points and layered each half behind the sentiment.

The sentiment panel is also raised on foam tape.

On the inside, I added a sentiment from Essential Sentiments as well as a couple flourishes from Finishing Flourishes.

I’ll be back tomorrow with our first August preview as well as this week’s Wednesday Stamp Club.  Thanks for visiting!  🙂

Since I never seem to have birthday cards when I need them, I decided to use our adorable Birthday Girl from the Pure Innocence line.  Base cardstock is MFT’s Tangy Orange.

My image was stamped onto X-Press It Blending Card, colored using Copics with colored pencils for the grass/ground.  After piecing the dress, I added a bit of shadow using W1 and W3 markers.

I stitched some cute Vintage Heart buttons to the front using jute string.  While the backs of the buttons are slightly colored, the fronts are brown (wood).  I decided to use the brown sides.

On the inside, I stamped my sentiment and used two scraps of the patterned paper.

Don’t forget to check out the other participants HERE, and leave comments along the way for your chance to win one of the fab four prizes!

Thanks for visiting today!  See you soon!

RAWR

It’s Wednesday and that means sketch time with My Favorite Things!

This week I used Claire Keay’s Little Loveosaurus along with a layered Sentiment Strip.

I colored with Copics, then added dots in two different shades of green.  Once colored, I used my Colorless Blender to add lighter dots.

On the inside, I stamped the little dino and sentiment using Bamboo Leaves ink.

<—Here’s the sketch if you’d like to play along.  Remember, if you upload your card to the SCS gallery using the keyword MFTWSC81, you will have the chance to win up to $20 in MFT money!  One winner is chosen at random each week.  More info can be found in the MFT Forum in SCS.

Thanks for visiting!  Have a great day!  🙂

Penny for your thoughts…MFT VIP New Product Tour

Hi everyone.  In what seems to be warp speed, it’s time once again for My Favorite Things‘ VIP.  We have another couple of really cute Pure Innocence sets for you!  This month’s kit is titled Simple Pleasures.

For $33.95 you can purchase Pure Innocence Picture Perfect and Piggy Bank stamp sets, Simple Pleasures Sentiments mini (VIP exclusive stamp set – will never be offered for sale or be available again $9 value, FREE) and Lead the Way Die-namics, a fun set of various arrows.  You can find the new collection HERE (while supplies last).

Today I’ve used Piggy Bank, the Simple Pleasures Sentiments mini (LOVE this set), Lead the Way and Fishtail Flags Die-namics.

I used MFT’s heavyweight kraft cardstock to die-cut the arrow.  I didn’t have brads to match so instead I punched six circles using a 1/4″ punch, layering two to create each “brad.”  (Base cardstock is Kraft as well.)

I stamped my girl onto X-Press It Blending Card then colored with Copics.  After piecing the shirt, I added a bit of shadow using a gray marker.

The arrow is raised on foam tape, and I layered a second Fishtail Flag behind the sentiment flag for a bit of definition on the fishtail end.

On the inside, I used a sentiment from Pure Innocence All Occasion Sentiments and stamped the girl peeking up from the bottom.

Be sure to check Kim’s blog for direct links to more samples using these cute new sets and dies!

It’s Always Cupcake Time — KKS Release

Welcome to Kraftin Kimmie Stamps‘ July release!   Once again, there are a lot of fun new images… Cheryl Alger has created a super cute Birthday Lulu set. Emilie Goulet has adorable Birthday Buddies.   And Annie has created six really fun Old Hollywood images.  Also, we have new Birthday Trinkets designed by Nicole Aspinall.

You’ll see most of the new images throughout the hop.  If you just popped in here, you may want to start at the beginning as you’ve missed just a few things. You can do that HERE. Be sure to leave comments as you go because two lucky winners will each receive a package of assorted stamps from the release!

Tonight I’ve used Birthday Lulu, peeking around a *really* big cupcake.  🙂

I used Copics to color my image, adding in ground using colored pencils.  To help fill the extra space in the upper left corner, I added a little banner.

Your next stop along the hop is with ELAINE.  I’m 100% certain she’ll have something amazing to share.  (Her coloring is unbeLIEVEable!)  🙂

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a great day!

YUM

Hi everyone.  🙂

My Favorite Things is sponsoring the Cupcake Inspirations challenge today. After digging through my MFT sets, I decided to combine two for one image on my card.  🙂

I used Fresh From the Oven, Hello Cupcake, Typewriter Alphabet and Mini Wavy Pennants Die-namics.

After stamping my chef onto X-Press It Blending Card, I masked her, then inked the cupcake portion of the Hello Cupcake image, stamping next to the chef. I colored with Copics and pieced the shirt, bowl and pants.   After assembling, I cut out my image and adhered over the lined paper.

The little banner was easily created using Mini Wavy Pennants.  A thin strip of dotted paper helped to decorate the top edges and small pieces of foam tape beneath each banner added a bit of dimension.

On the inside, I used a bordered sheet from the patterned paper pad, stamped my sentiment and more of the Hello Cupcake image.

Base cardstock is Tangy Orange. Another favorite.  (It goes well with a lot of the reddish oranges found in My Mind’s Eye and Cosmo Cricket papers.)  🙂

Here’s the Cupcake Inspiration photo.  You can find the challenge details here.  I hope you’ll play along!

Here, I’ve used Marilyn along with her coordinating sentiment.

After coloring her with Copics, I added some sparkle to her eyelids using a clear Spica glitter pen.

Tiny Tip:  When coloring lips, leave a tiny speck of white on the bottom lip to indicate shine.

The sparkly flourish is intended to resemble air blowing from below.

Way to Go!

There’s another great sketch challenge this week with My Favorite Things!

I used another of our latest releases, Gymnast Girl, from the Pure Innocence line.  For my sentiment, I layered a Sentiment Strip atop the smallest Fishtail Flag.  The fishtail edged sentiment strip layers perfectly onto the smallest of the Fishtail Flags.

Along the bottom, I layered two strips of Simply Scallops Small (my favorite border die).

Base cardstock is one of my favorite MFT colors, Sno Cone.  I also used Tangy Orange and, of course, X-Press It Blending Card.

I used the two smaller flowers from Flower & Leaf Trio, raising each on a bit of foam tape.  In the centers I used candy dots from Pebbles, Inc.

I finished the inside simply by using a scrap of the patterned paper and a second sentiment from the set.

MFT July Creative Challenge — Christmas in July

Welcome to this month’s My Favorite Things Design Team Creative Challenge. The Creative Challenge is a monthly feature where we are challenged to explore our creative side using a specific theme, product or technique.  This month we were challenged to kick-start our holiday projects with Christmas in July.  Be sure to check the MFT Blog for a list of all the designers who have put their MFT stamps and/or Die-namics dies to work to create holiday projects for you.  🙂

Friendship Warms the Heart

I pretty much had to take this opportunity to get at least two Christmas cards completed so I pulled out two of my favorite holiday Pure Innocence sets.  (Actually, I pulled three but one I only used for the sentiment.)

On my first card, I used Merry Kissmas along with Oval STAX, Traditional Tags STAX and Little Open Scallop Strip and Die-namics.

After stamping and coloring my image onto X-Press It Blending Card (and paper-piecing the snowman’s hat and scarf), I die-cut using Oval STAX, matting onto Gumdrop Green cardstock.

You can see better in this photo that I added a clear dimensional glaze to the berries, snowman’s nose and buttons.

On the inside, I stamped an additional sentiment along with the berries, extending the branch line with a Copic multiliner.

Merry Wishes

My second card uses another of my favorite holiday sets, Sending You a Little Christmas.  The sentiment is from Presents for You.    I also used Circle STAX as well as one of our new Sentiment Strips Die-namics.

I pieced the girl’s hat and coat and used E50 and E51 to shade the “white” areas. The image was stamped onto X-Press It Blending Card (it’s my favorite) and matted onto Red Hot cardstock.

To mat the sentiment strip, I die-cut one white and one red strip.  After stamping the sentiment on the white strip, I cut away the top and bottom edges along the embossed line.  Super easy.  🙂

On the inside, I used more Circle STAX and left plenty of room for a short holiday note.

Don’t forget to check out the MFT blog for more inspiration!

Thanks for visiting today!  🙂
