It Takes Someone Special

Hello.  🙂  I’m posting this a lot later than I had intended.  It’s turned out to be a busy day.

I generally have a difficult time making cards for men but Father’s Day is by far the hardest.  My dad has been gone seven years (this month) and it can still be challenging listening to folks on the radio sharing special dad memories…or seeing all those Father’s Day cards in the stores with all of their sentimental thoughts.   I’m glad my children like to make their own Father’s Day cards.  At least that part is easy.  Regardless, I can’t let the occasion pass without making a card for my father-in-law.  He’s a very special man and I think the world of him.

It Takes Someone Special to be a Dad

I decided to deviate from my go-to color (brown) and instead used blue.  (I really need to put the brown away.  I’ve been using it WAY too much lately.)

Unity‘s Nothing But Blue Skies kit made this card so easy to finish, inside and out.  I used markers to color in a few of the circles and punched two different patterned papers (in two different sizes) to fill in some of the areas.

USPINOn the inside I used a second sentiment from the same set.

It isn’t super-fancy, but I like how it turned out.  I think my father-in-law will too.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  I hope you had a nice Father’s Day, saw or talked to your dad or at least were able to take a moment to remember special times.  I’ll be back soon!

  1. Wonderful card. Love the blue. My Dad has been gone 45 years – but not forgotten. We celebrated John’s Father’s Day by going camping.

  2. What a great card; love it – not the norm, which makes it so great. We lost hubby’s dad 3 1/2 years ago, I still feel guilty talking about my dad on Father’s Day…b/c I am always reminded he doesn’t have his any longer. It’s so hard; I’m very sorry for your loss Michele; but thankful you are blessed with a great father-in-law!

  3. What a wonderful card. I understand completely how hard making F-Day cards can be as I struggle with this too having lost my dad 12 years ago. I gave the card I made to my hubby for Father’s Day though.

  4. Beautiful father’s day card – love the blues and the details. I’m sure your father-in-law will love it.

  5. Brown just looks so perfect with everything, doesn’t it? Love this in the blues, though, too. It’s a great card for Father’s Day!

  6. Michele, this is wonderful! I love it in blue! It’s fun and masculine at the same time! I’m sure he loved it!

  7. Super card, Michele. I love the circles, and I really like the twill matted like that.

  8. This is one great Father’s Day card, Michele!! I love the image with the punched circle accents!! Looks great in blue too!!
